MashAllah very fascinating. Islamic calligraphy naturally draws the onlooker with its beauty and intricacy. Having learned about the deeper spiritual connectivity, I feel, gives this stunning craft a whole new depth and meaning. I'm in awe of the whole process, the art, the spiritual elements, the integrity, the master student relationship, valuing the tools materials and having that timeless bond with the ancient masters... JazakAllah Khair for the valuable insight into an amazing skill.

Bismillahirahmannirrahim. Just some thoughts. In this era, modern arts has become more unaesthetic if thats a word. If compared to the previous era or centuries. I often wonder why. Then i realised, those days, people didnt have entertaiments that blunted their minds. They have all the time to beautify things. Im not artistic myself but i appreciate beautiful things. And God loves beauty. And in Turkey itself, mashaAllah, they preserved their art so well.

Was interesting to learn how people became calligraphers. I would love for my child to follow in this field. But when I was listening to the bit about pen burial, it all sounded a bit weird. Not sure a dead persons barakah can infuse into a pen

MashAllah valuable talk over calligraphy and it’s background. Calligraphy places an integral part of Muslim history, art and culture, side by side geometrical mystical art and architecture. It’s spiritual discipline and knowledge is been discussed in a very interesting and detailed manner. Jazzak Allah.

I am in love with the Ottomans, not the Dynasty but the system and the concept. We Muslims should seriously think about what have we lost behind?!?!

Fascinating episode MashaAllah. I think the value of the process is lost and very much needed today: (1) Master prescribes the work, (2) student practises by repetition, (3) submits to master for critique and correction. Perhaps this survives a little within the culture martial arts in both east and west.

A fascinating insight into the world of calligraphy. Loved it masha'Allah. I was just put off with the practice of burying pens into their master's graves for barakah. Just doesn't sound right.
