Dr Amina Nawaz Thank you soo much. Thank you Thank you Thank you soo sooo much. You showed me a great aspect of an aboriginal Muslims of that time. I have begun to understand that how an average Muslim has a great understanding of believes which connect them to ALLAH and how to hold on to them when there is a threat hunting to get them down. It shows me that no matter what circumstances are ever going to be, there is always one can do to please ALLAH while staying connected to faith. It all about Intention. Thanks for showing us that how beautifully a faith can be preserved in times of trials and tribulations.

Salaam. Wow, This is what I have been looking for for decades. Jazakallah Hu Khir Amina for the talking about the Moriscos/ Spanish Islam. I started writing about them at uni early 2000 and left it as it is, but listening and looking at your research makes me want to delve back into it! What great stuff you have with you. I am very inspired. Masyallah.. Hope to hear more from you again soon, Insyallah. :) Thank you again!! You made someone in Australia really happy.

Asalam Alaikum and thank you for this insights. Completely new for me on my first Ramadan as a newly convert. This all puts my former history knowledge about the development of religious geographic statuses and power upside down. That is perfectly Ok for me. Especially when taking into account, that Christian religiousity has a long history of forced baptism throughout the centuries and continents. And furthermore when taking into account, that todays worldly wealth of the roman-catholic church was founded on the robbery of gold of sout-american indigene populations. And continued with the forced christianing worldwide. This is not meant to start a discussion on nowadays worldly situations. Thanks for the eyeoppening insights on the peacefulness and steadfastness of the islamic community. May Allah bless you and your continuing work on this minority group. This could be maybe an example "pars pro toto" of how parts of the Islamic community, our Ummah, is still under persecution, while those who persecute, even reverse the direction of aggresion.

Thank you CMC for transforming our Ramadhan and giving us a daily dose of inspiration and spiritual up lifting.

She is giving misleading facts, such as Andalusia, which never exist. Ms Nawaz is confusing my History. Moriscos were highly persecuted in some areas and some of them always manage to keep their faith and principles secretly: parking, marriage, new born celebration, burial. we had local Qadis and expertise on fiqh.
@kauserahmed32014 жыл бұрын
We saw this at the beginning of the 21st century (after 9/11) when there was greater exhortation on how to deepen and strengthen individual faith. I used to think this was a dereliction of duty on part of the spiritual leaders, but this erudite talk explains to me why. In times of trouble and trauma, we need to focus on building a stronger and more secure faith. Thank you Ms Nawaz, a superb introduction to the Moriscos. May Allah grant you all blessings and rehma.

A real eye opener. I had thought that Muslims left the Iberian peninsula after the 1492 expulsion. Very enriching. This context may help many Muslims who live in Europe, especially in countries such as France where Muslim rituals are prohibited in the public domain.

Yes. But most still left for south America and especially to Morocco. Morocco is as far as i know the only place where their culture has survived and not died out after assimilation/genocide.

hamwic BI Syaikh Abdal Hakim Murad know and make some lecture about walisongo (the nine saints) in Java or Nusantara. They spreading Islam in Indonesia without war. And in the colonialization period, some syaikh build traditional school (pesantren) and teach the student many arabic kitab/books make translation with javanese or malay language, but with arabic text (we call it “arab pegon”, you can google it). At the same time, the colonial goverment and some scholar build modern school with abcd text and european curriculum. (Sorry, my english not good 😊)
