In the same boat lol. I do have relaxed hair and my last relaxer was 5 months ago. I’ve been letting my hair grow out as I continue to do protective styles. Another thing that has helped me is following and subscribing to different accounts who have MY hair type/texture. I always said natural hair was too much for me to handle and my relaxed hair made things easier but listening to others tell their stories and give their tips inspired me to have self love for my curly hair and made me start this journey in the first place.

I haven't had a relaxer in my hair for a year, but I use a blow dryer and flat iron on wash days. I want to go natural, but it is so time consuming and I am really impatient. I have looked a numerous videos of how to do this style and wash your hair this way, but my main concern was where do you start how do you choose products when you don’t know what to buy or not to buy. My last relaxer was on feb 27. Corona is what jumpstarted it. I have been the classic salon girl. Never did my own hair, just went to the salon every two weeks and let someone else do it. So this is really a big step for me. Thank you for the how to 101. Can’t wait to watch the next two videos.

Hello and very informative video! I'm 58 and beginning my journey to natural hair TODAY! Today I will throw out all of the shampoo's and conditioners that I have, in addition to returning a very expensive curling iron that I recently purchased at Sally's. Whew! I'm not going to lie, PATIENCE IS NOT A TRAIT that I have acquired, when it comes to my hair. I've tried transitioning before, however, the part that really frustrated me was when the chemicals started growing out, I just didn't know what to do with my hair. Since watching your video, I now know what products I need and will be purchasing them today! PRAY FOR ME! I truly am tired of the chemicals that I've put in my hair, as I have been applying them for 40 years! I truly can't wait to see the definition of my true curls, even though it will take a year or more. Thank you!😃

When I was younger my hair was straight but I didn’t take care of it and it got really knotted. I ended up having to shave my whole head and my hair started to grow back curly for some reason. I have a different father from my sisters so I was the only one with curly hair. I took care of my hair as I did when it was straight so I didn’t pay attention to the heat/bleach damage I did. My curls were never defined and my hair would be straight in some parts and curly in others. I thought I was the only one but I’ve been doing a lot of research and I found that I need to transition to natural hair to get the curls that I wanted. I did finger coiling for the first time and I saw a huge difference in the curls at the front of my head. But at the back the roots and top half of my hair is frizzy and won’t curl but the end will. It’s been hard because I’m 13 and my sister makes fun of my hair a lot while I’m transitioning so I became really self conscious, but now I know that what I’m going through is normal and I’m so happy that I have videos like this to help me in my curly girl journey.

Thank you for all the tips and I want to especially thank you for the encouraging words at the last part of your video. I really, really, really hope I don't give up within these next 3 months. I'm glad I'm starting while the weather isn't stifling hot (I live in the southern part of USA). I feel like if I can make it to June, then I have a fighting chance of making it through the summer heat. I'll be watching the rest of the videos in your series. But I have family members who are 5 to 7 years into their natural hair, so I'll have a lot of support.

@fred4peace4 жыл бұрын
Also my sister suggested to finger detangle before wetting. I tried that and then did a full prepoo & detangle. Washed and deep cond the Next day. Still a challenge but no tears and much much less shedding. I’m six months into a transition from perm on 4b/c (I think) hair. I now also detangle midweek as the trauma was too much.

Beautiful. Looks great. Maybe the butter side. Both sides look fabulous 😀 since not having a relaxer anymore. My hair drys up after a couple days trying the twist. Not good at doing hair and I have hair that tangles easily and I'm tender headed, so it's a pain. I prefer the relaxed look, but also like the natural styles. I get tired of braids ( my own hair) my relax was never damaged, and the comb goes through much easier. I've been natural since 2017 and if I do my own hair not a good look long. 😄 I have medium length. I don't like the tangled and I use detangling products and brush and comb. I have a bad shoulder that I will need surgery, so it doesn't make twisting easy all the way around. I'm seriously thinking about relaxing or press and style for better management. Your knowledge makes me to hold out longer for relaxing. I appreciate the lessons on upkeep and how to keep it moisturized. Thanks

Thank you so much for this video! I literally held scissors to my permed ends yesterday, deciding if I should cut 60% of my hair off and be left with short natural hair that I don’t feel comfortable with yet. I wasn’t sure how to style it after it’s cut and I know I’m not good with patience when it comes to my hair (considering why I permed it in the first place). I feel better about transitioning back after these tips! Thanks again! 🙌🏾

I’m almost 6 months post relaxer now and nobody told me having 2 different textures in my hair would be this hard, it’s so easily tangled and hard to detangle and it makes me not want to touch my hair 😭
@bluberrybabe10134 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! My last relaxer was August of 2019 and I’ve been washing and putting my hair in box braids since. But WITHOUT those braids, dealing with those 2 different textures are a DIFFERENT ball game that I’m NOT mentally prepared for 😩😩
@fred4peace4 жыл бұрын
I was shook with the tangles. 😭 but now finger detangle while dry and before prepoo. Then during conditioning. Post with leave in and then braid. Clip-ins are a quick add on but I don’t sleep on them for fear of breakage. Trim ends too.

I am working on my transitioning stage right now. I watched your part one video and looked and found your second and third video. During the first video you mentioned that your shampoos don't need to have sulfates and that other thing ( i forgot the name) in your shampoos and conditions , then i went looked at my hair products and it had those ingredients , so then i started to look up good shampoos and conditioners and i made a list of the one i would like to buy to help my hair . And plus im saving up my money so i can be able to do the things i want to do with my hair i will update my process of my hair. So thanks for the tips and advice to help me with my transitioning stage

I am 21 months into transitioning & your videos have been my favorite for the transitioning process. Flexirods have become my favorite style. A little harder to do now that I have more natural hair & the detangling process is out of this world! I rarely use heat but I went to the shop recently & my hair was almost to my butt. After a trim it is still down my back. With relaxers my hair could never get passed bra strap length. I have very thick hair even with a relaxer so now my hair is a beast! I love it even though it is a lot of work. Can’t wait to be fully natural & to try a wash & go! 🥰 Just wish I would’ve started this process sooner!

I’ve never gone natural in my life, my moms my hairstylist so she’s been controlling all my hair decisions since I was born. I had relaxed hair until I was like 13 since my mom started to realize what the treatment was doing to my hair but even after that I did my hair every 1-2 weeks keeping it in it’s straight form as best as I could until now because Im pretty sure it’s killing my hair so let’s see how the rest of this year looks during this process for my hair.
