It says a lot about your character that you respect other people and their right to not be on camera in your KZbin’s. It’s something more people need to be aware of and take into consideration. Thanks for being such a good person Kelsey.

I love how you include real life, practical, and realistic things, amongst your natural/organic/homesteading lifestyle....it makes your channel very genuine...and actually 'doable', for those who are thinking of living as you do... Having canned soup in the pantry for emergency - love it! Nothing wrong being being prepared, in every way that one can be!

Just FYI, in order for maple syrup to be organic, the farmers must follow sustainable practices across all aspects of production. This includes the way the trees are grown, how sap is transported and processed, how land is managed, and hoe the syrup is packaged and stored. There is very specific guidelines and regulations that cover forest management, processing, and storage to ensure that no chemicals or other inorganic products are used at any point in production. It’s really expensive to keep and produce organic maple syrup. Which is why the cost of the syrup is so high. But if all of this is important to you then it may be worth the extra cost.

Thank you so much for all this information! I appreciate it! The cost is the same as the non organic which is why I was somewhat skeptical!

I had seen on television somewhere once that said there was no such real thing as organic Maple syrup. They said it is ALL organic. They also said ALL popcorn is non GMO.

8:30 In case this tip is helpful for anyone: I am extremely forgetful which makes it difficult for me to track how long any particular item lasts in my household. I have started using a sharpie to label everything with the date it was opened so I have a better idea of how much/when I need to stock things. It was kind of a game changer for me.

Those pretzels are great with some honey mustard! You could go a little heavier on the honey if your kids aren’t mustardy, but they are delicious

So at least as far as I’ve heard, organic maple syrup isn’t really different based on being sprayed. It’s different based on the woodlot being managed in a way that’s better for the environment. Like not tapping trees less than 10 cm in diameter. They also have to clean the lines and equipment in a non toxic way. I prefer to buy the organic from Costco, but when I can’t afford it some weeks, I try not to sweat it.

Hi Chelsea! Thank you for the inspiration you give us! As a woman of faith, if you have space in your prayers, I would appreciate a word or 2. I just lost my job (for specious reasons), and it was pretty traumatic (HR sent the documentation to me instead of my bosses - I confronted them with it) and I'm struggling a little.

We were without power for 8 days with 2 kids under 2 and and 8 year old in 2022 during a bad snow storm. We got real creative with a camp stove because we were completely over Ramen noodles and canned soup. I always keep instant potatoes and canned veggies, boxed mac and cheese and canned fruit we don't necessarily love to buy those items but for convenience with minimun recourses it was amazing. We had to think of 2-3 meals a day for young kids we as adults would have been OK but sometimes for a meal we just had mashed potatoes and corn and canned fruit after. Or Mac an cheese and peas for lunch and apple sauce We always keep frozen lunch meat and store bought bread frozen just because that would have been amazing to pull out the freezer and have at some point for back up. We didn't have a generator then but we do now to be able to plug in a toaster or even air fryer or crock pot to have a meal cook for you overnight while running your heaters or fridge

We also ran out of propane to use for cooking and needed it for our propane heat lamp which kept out living room at 50 degrees most times when the temp was less than 10 outside at night so a necessity in my eyes. But without having a way to cook something on the camp stove we used about 20 tea light candles on a baking sheet in our oven on the bottom rack and placed a small pot of water above it. You need to keep the oven door cracked for air flow to keep the candles lit but within an hour we had almost boiling water to make Ramen noodles for our kids and us. Keeping your babies warm and fed during a major 8 day power outage is a true test in patience and will really make your wheels turn to prepare to never be caught unprepared again. We were maybe 50 percent prepared for a power outage of 2-4 days but 8 days in cold Temps we could have been a lot more prepared and we weren't but we 90 percent prepared for another outage like that. I'm still preparing everyday thinking of things to have and make something like that not knock us down to our knees again. We did it, we kept them fed and kept them warm but it could have been so much easier and so much less stressful to have things in place better. Sometimes you think things like that won't happen and that's when we need to realize that they will once you think they won't and to always be prepared no matter the case. This was a long rant but that was so scary to go thru with 3 kids and 2 under 2. Last year was my 1st year on our homestead and our first garden and this year we are going at it full force. It'll be our first year canning our own food and I can't wait to be a little bit more self sustainable. We will have lots oftomatoes, peppers, zucchini, green beans and I hope to be able to have some source of fruit established soon!

Pam says- I had a nerve issue in my cheek a while back that seemed to be caused by a reaction (overdose) of B vitamin (1500%min). Doctors/dentist couldn't find any other cause. The symptoms went away after 3 days when I stopped taking the supplement. It was the only change I made. I just thought I would mention it because it's not something doctors generally scan for. I had a neurologist suggest it after an MRI showed nothing. 😎

Thanks for the video, Kelsey, It's always interesting to see what people, who are health conscious, purchase at different stores. I have been a Naturopath for over 45 years. The following are some suggestions: One of the herbs that is a great stone and calcium dissolver is hydrangea. Taken internally, hydrangea seems to help with kidney stones and even heel spurs but I've had clients use it for cysts with good results. I've also had clients use a "drawing salve" topically. Most drawing salves include activated charcoal. I have a video on making one. Have you tried apple cider compresses? Heating a clean washcloth with hot running water; wring it out and then put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar on it with a few drops of tea tree oil; apply this to your cheek. Leave on for about a half hour or until your cheek comes back to normal temperature. Feel free to contact me, or disregard as you see fit. Shared with love and respect. Mary Born, ND

Great video Kelsey. Where we live we use Costco almost exclusively. We are limited also to organic foods. We can only do what we can with what we can get. We have been using the Kirkland batteries for years and they seem to work just as well as the Duracell. Anyways take care. 🌷🇨🇦

What she is referring to is more of a farmer's market. There is also an actual "auction" there as well, where people can bid on household items, like an estate sale. I hope this helps. Being from this area too,, we sometimes forget that others from out of the area might not understand. 😊
