About OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY:
We moved to our 11 acres in 2011 from a large city in the Midwest with zero carpentry and farming skills. We live with no solar / wind power / public water or well. We share our adventure to a sustainable life, growing our own food from vegetables to meat. We post videos DAILY and they range from HOW TO to EVERYDAY LIFE and NUTRITION on the off grid homestead. We were city folks just like you probably and wanted to enjoy life and have more control over our food. We share food recipes as well as natural remedies.

Thanks for the video, took me back to my younger years growing up in Delaware. It was part if my life growing up seeing the buggies and hearing the clip clop of the horses as they passed by our house, The weekly auction in my town of Dover wasn't that big but I loved going there with my grandfather.

Hey Doug and Stacy.🤗 what a video. But have to agree too short. Never been to a amish auction.. but we have seen a barn raising.. that was fun.. Wow they work like little beavers .. together fast .. and what a lunch the amish women put out .. And your right no pictures. Wanted to take some of the barn raising.. We were by the road and one of the Amish men invited us to come watch them work . We have some good Amish friends that have a furniture store in Texas.. good people. Glad you 'll had fun. Thanks for a great video.enjoy it . Blessing 👩‍🌾

Up in Wisconsin we have an Amish Auction during the Fourth of July. We were camping and went to it. Has anyone camped with a Rooster, Hen and 8- day old chicks?!!! ($3.00 for that group. I named them the Homesteaders) They were in the screen tent that night! At 4:30 the crowing began!!!! 🐓 Our neighbors were great but we did have people ask where we bought such a unique alarm clock AND why we set it so early. Hahaha That was a GREAT weekend!

That was fun :) did you buy anything guys? We live in an Amish area too in Ohio - they pass by our homestead daily on their travels. I always enjoy seeing them gather for social events...it's like traveling back to a simpler time of hard homestead work, building a close-knit community, & gathering together for picnics & Sunday-go-meetings. Their small school house is around the corner from our place & they ring the old fashioned bell for recess & call to session. They may not like to be photographed, but our Amish & Mennonite neighbors always wave at us, smile, & sometimes I get a brief, little hat tip o.- . It's comforting knowing that those are the kind of neighbors you have: hard work ethics, family oriented, & their homesteads are always beautiful, orderly, and clean. Thanks for sharing Doug :)

I'm a little surprised they tolerate you with that camera. I guess the word around about you is that you're good folk who can be trusted. I have a friend who grew up on the edge of Amish country and lives off of the grid like they do, he just loves that life. He had friends among them growing up. He tells me it takes a bit to earn that kind of trust in their community as an "Engelmann, " so kudos to you!

I would be like a kid in a lolly shop! We have nothig like that here in Australia and "Amish" buggies and horse drawn implements have to be imported from the States at vast cost. More often than not the shipping costs more then the item costs. Doug, I miss seeing your draft mares but I'm sure they went to a home where they have regular work and a looked after well.

You are correct about the prices being extremely high! $700 (and still bidding) for a really old sickle mower (we would definitely call it vintage) with missing teeth and blades was really outta there! Makes me wonder the correlation between the high prices and the $ going to the schools. Never knew there were that many Amish in Mo. I lived south of St Joe and always heard of the communities up north, but never knew there were so many.

I just got a map for 2017 that shows where all the Amish shops in the area are located. I have more in common with your culture than with my friends and families culture near St Louis. First time viewer. Went to school in Northwest Missouri but never saw anything like this. Original exposure to the Amish was those reality shows, which showed us "English" that even in some Amish communities, there is corruption, violence and some real bad people. However, was exposed to Amish in Pennsylvania. and, while they weren't any different as human beings who, in general, were peaceful and heart warming, they were friendly and allowed us into their world. What an education! Like your videos. Far more respectful than those who filmed those reality shows. I hope to never see another one! Looking forward to more videos!

Doug... put some coconut oil on your beard and fluff it up. Lol, just kidding. We really enjoyed the video.
