Amish life looks so much less hectic and stressful than going to university and struggling in the job market. It looks so nostalgic with the wooden, covered bridge and riding in a buggy. It's cool that Miriam and her Dad are so knowledgeable about Amish history. With mobile telephones, at least they're small, easy to hide and there are no wires. It would be handy for parents to call their children and say, "Dinner is ready! Where are you?"

Life before computers and technology seems so SLOW. Everything moves so fast in information era. Got 8 different things trying to grab your attention at any moment. This life looks a lot calmer, you can actually look at someone else and talk to them.

Im really fascinated about the Amish people. Did you leave them and where are you living now? I am from the countryside myself, in a place in Europe and I am a little bit old fashioned, so I am a big fan of the Amish way of living, it would be a dream come true to see or experience the Amish way of life some day.

Sometimes I wish I was Amish, I’m all about being outside, farming, dealing with farm animal and managing horses
@neetrab12 жыл бұрын
lol! Okay. I see. I live near lancaster, PA but my religion is pentecostal/apostolic. I have always been fascinated by how you live. Fascinated by the fact that among all the things in life that's going on, you still stick to what you believe is true... which should be that way for all religions. You're just different from the outside appearance, I think that's what I'm trying to say.

"stuck in time" seems like a bit of an inaccurate description of the amish. they're extremely frugal and extremely pious and extremely communal, and even though those are somewhat old qualities, as people they seem completely modern. in fact with things like community-based economics coming back into fashion in the "english" world, you could say that the amish were, in many ways, a couple hundred years ahead of their time.

The Amish life looks so much less hectic and stressful??? There are things they do that they will probably say IS very hectic and stressful. The one I can't understand is not using a car but having to use a horse and buggy or walking to whereever they need to go. I know all Amish do not share that tradition, but I know many still do. That has GOT to be hectic and stressful. Also, not using electricity.
@neetrab12 жыл бұрын
I'm confused. I thought Amish weren't allowed to use computers??? I'm assuming some amish believe in using the computer and some don't?

sie ist alte adaaha of amish
@jrhager12 жыл бұрын
If you try to figure anything out, you will eventually be confused. Amish, like any religion, is a 'fruit basket' - people pick and choose what they want to believe, and what is conducive for their survival. Many Amish and Mennonites are changing their ways simply because they don't want to be homeless, and all it takes is to just change their church.

Wearing a covering and dress doesn’t make you Amish. No distinct accent and Meyer isn’t an Amish last name. Nice try though.
