Yes... I've met people who have existed in a time when planes don't exist, and I'm not even old. Imagine a scenario where you'd pluck someone from that age, put them in today's world without having experienced the time in between and how much they'd freak out.

i'm glad their first trip wasn't on the alaska airlines that had the door panel blow out. everyone survived, but they'd probably be more scarred than most...and never fly again..

Luckily you didn't have any turbulence on your first flight. I fly very often, but my ex-girlfriend had the great pleasure of enjoying her first flight with the most violent turbulence :D I don't think she'll be flying on vacation again so soon...

Simple. They are on the road because they dont want to follow the rules to harsh but there family does. They dont need an photo id so why do something like that in advance? They said for armish not for "them"

It's not that they can't have pictures or video taken of them, just that they can't have the pictures or videos because looking at them could start to make them more vain.

I remember the first time I ever went on a plane. It was a day in September, 1985. I was 21 years old and flew out from London and into Rome at the beginning of a tour of Italy. I loved the flight, the holiday and the return to London. Plus it was all paid for me - I was even given spending money.

Do you mean that these "actors" have specific lines they are all supposed to say? I'm wondering why they would see all that trouble, when real life people with authentic lines and expressions are so much more interesting than what we see in any movies and such. It would be so much effort to hide the fact that they were scripted too, considering how many people take part in these shows. I have understood that some parts of some shitty drama shows are "scripted" so that the people are asked to do certain things, but it's not the norm.

The Amish that appear in this show are leaving the Amish life and are completely shunned by their family, friends, town, etc. The whole point is for the people leaving to experience life outside of the Amish culture and either decide to keep living a "regular" life or go back to their town and continue being Amish. The towns they come from are against the tv show and usually refuse to appear aside from those who are leaving

They’re leaving Amish They aren’t supposed to fly Or use cameras and phones Or drive around in cars Or even have TVs They’re leaving Amish They just didn’t know they needed an approved state ID to fly The ID without photo is just so they can take it with them if they ever visit Amish places or back home It’s like if they want, they can actually get certain kind of semi-modest clothes that you can wear back home as well as still be fashionable in modern society Tips and tricks Just little loop holes so you can take some stuff back with you

Glasses have been around since the time period they decided to freeze in time as their lifestyle. I find it weird that their religion means you have to be frozen in a PARTICULAR time period - the 1800s in America or Germany. What's so holy about a time period? Why not pick Biblical times and only use tools they had during Jesus' time - same farming methods etc. I didn't know Amish people said "Oh my God", either.

@@frankG335 I know, but you have to get a prescription for them. I’ve also been watching, “Cults to Consciousness” and they delve deep into the really hard core Amish. They also spotlight LDS and Scientology. It’s super interesting.

I wonder how the Amish as a religious institution, and Cosa Nostra as an organized criminal institution could compare to one another. Maybe if Michael Franzese did an hour long (or more) sit-down with an Amish Bishop or someone else within the hierarchy of the order who defected, we non Amish people could potentially learn about things that we aren't supposed to know, that even TLC and others won't reveal. Why not?

@@freemagicfun Because she already has an ID that the government accepts. Hypothetical: If i have a driver's license that all the car rentals, the police e.g accept, why would i pay for another one ? I dont know if you have to pay for an ID in the US but i would guess so, and even if it is free you still have to spent your time to apply for it. I would also bet that they highlighted that issue to teach people that the amish get certain freedoms that normal americans dont have.

Ok, I'm only 8 mos late on this... but I feel like I'm catching up to real time here, at least it's not 2 years! Yeah, introductions is a learned thing, and realizing Amish have German background, Germans aren't big on emotions and such. If Amish had Hispanic backgrounds, they'd be all over her the moment she walked into that pool area. My German friends tend to date Hispanics for this reason... one's into Mexicans, the other's dating a Dominican. Kinda balances out that way.

This effort to evangelize doesn't work and it makes you feel like you're "doing something for God". But the right way to go about this is to instead learn to hear the quiet voice of God, the Holy Spirit, which takes time and maturity. Then you let the Holy Spirit lead you to speak only when you are led by the Holy Spirit. Just blasting this stuff out doesn't do anything but irritate people. Please mature and seek wisdom and learn the whispered voice of the Holy Spirit, which comes from a very quiet place- and does not seek publicity, points, and is done privately. Jesus said not to even pray in public to be seen by people. Read the actual words of Jesus Himself, not the distractions of Paul's letters, which were never meant to be seen as scripture. Learn directly from the words of Jesus and try to just follow those and allow all the other trappings of religionism to fall away.. You'll find that it's completely different from the in., nationalistic, self righteous culture you've been raised in. Above all, seek wisdom. That takes time. God is not in a hurry. Don't get your beliefs from pastors, who try to talk about things they don't understand (like science and politics). Get it from Jesus actual words and deeds. Get a good NSAB study Bible so you can cross reference the prophecies he refers to. YOU need to get serious about this before you blast this unthoughtful stuff all over the internet. That's not what following Jesus is about. You've been mislead. -Christian for 57 years
