Made these rolls this weekend. Delicious! Huge fluffy pillow like rolls. I almost overcooked them thinking the rolls needed 30 minutes like a loaf. The crust was a little tough, but that was my fault. Will mark them to be cooked for 20 minutes. Loved having extra to go in the freezer so they will be ready for this coming weekend. One less thing I have to worry with all the other holiday preps.

This vid had me giggling. Watching you knead in high speed, LOL, I kept waiting for Charlie Chapman to run by. Also, I got so tickled over you doing the 3 teaspoons of salt.. such a rule follower on this recipe! Which cracked me up cause you often are not such a rule follower and I laughed and said, 3 teaspoons is a tablespoon! Had me laughin. And I am Texan, and live only about 90 minutes (which for Texans is NOT a long drive) from the Town of West, the kolache capital! Loved this vid. You are such a joy to watch!

awesome video Linda I am not even half done yet with the vid. and our deal of it you explain stuff so well I hope you do some videos uncanning soups because I think that I shouldn't have to cook black beans and chicken noodle soup would my noodles get over cooked or like beans will they get overcooked or would you just suggest anything is different than adding them all together.

...Hi there, Heather. I was just thinking about you; hope your Thanksgiving went well. I had company, but I wore myself out, now my fibromyalgia is going ape poop on me. I was gonna come knocking on your door to tell you my exciting news.. ready? I just got in about an hour ago from ordering new kitchen appliances.. YEAH.. (had a wee bit of trouble, I won't go into now) but it was long overdue for new.. especially my half baked oven. Maybe I'll get bread and rolls that bake on the bottom now. Anyway, it'll take about 2-3 wks before delivery and installment. The worst of the trouble was finding a fridge to fit in the space, everything was to big considering you need air flow around the fridge. I needed the freezer on the bottom so I'm not bending inward to get in the fridge (bad back). So, its a French door, which is gonna take some gettin' use to. We ended up paying more than we wanted to but still less because of sale prices, if that makes any sense.. no package deal for what I needed & the size wasn't available. Are you going to try this Amish recipe? I will, but have to wait until my big arrival.. lol
@TheKneadyHomesteader8 жыл бұрын
Jo Anne Keryger OMGOSH! I am SO EXCITED for YOU!!!!!! hahaha Holy Smokes!!!!! I wouldnt be able to sleep if I were you. I hate that they make you wait so long for delivery! hahaha I want next day delivery service for appliances. LOL! Sorry to hear you are hurting......the holidays and over doing it, throwing yourself out of your rhythm can do that to ya. Then its like 2-3 days to recover. ugh. Try to take it easy this weekend, Mama! I can't wait to hear what it is you make first in your new oven! hahaha
@joannekeryger79098 жыл бұрын
...I Know, I knew you would be excited for me. First thing is probably gonna be something of yours.. hahaha, let's see, what shall it be??? Girl, I was so tired of that ole oven, I can't even tell ya.. my broiler didn't even work.. (say whatttt??) I usually put my tree up the day after thanksgiving.. BUT Santa will understand. How bout you, did you cook this year or what? Xmas .. I think I'm passing and asking everyone if they want to go to (get ready) ... Golden Coral.. lol
@TheKneadyHomesteader8 жыл бұрын
hahaha we are fans of Golden Coral! We are lucky and have really good one where we live. The manager is fantastic! Plus, the boys LOVE they can get everything they want! LOL I say go for it! hahaha

I use the same receipt but change 1 cup water, for 1 cup of pineapple juice, add 2 TBSP of Honey, decrease sugar to one cup, add 1 tsp. of Vanilla (optional), two room temp eggs beaten prior to adding, and add 2 rounded TBSP of wheat gluten. try it, tastes simular too a famous brand won't say the name! PLUS. Then if you want something different add to your basic Amish sweet bread/roll dough: exchange 1 cup potato water, for a cup of water and add 1 cup of instant potato buds decreasing flour by the same, add 2 TBSP of wheat gluten making a heaver moist great tasting potato roll or bread.

hello Linda we are from Charlotte North Carolina as a child my father's mother used to cook ice box rolls I don't know if you've ever heard of them before I'm trying to find a good recipe that would kind of feel like the ones that she made when I was a little girl do you have any suggestions for me and your arms must be extremely strong and I really enjoyed this video so thank you so much also if I cannot afford a bread maker but I do have glass Lowe's for bread how do I get bread or is there another recipe I need to use would you recommend glass to make homemade bread thank you so much happy holidays
@TheMwnciboo7 жыл бұрын
Does all US bread have this much sugar in it? General in the UK our bread contains little to no sugar, potentially a tea spoon of it in warm water to real activate the yeast. Its not for taste just to jump start the Yeast. It interesting how different cultures & countries make small variations on recipes.

Why didn't you knead in the mixer? Was the recipe too large?
@michelleevans55316 жыл бұрын
Kneading by hand is a better option since it's good excercise for the hands and arm muscles. Keeps you limber. If I don't excercise my hands, they get weak and sore. I've always heard, if you don't use it, you lose it.
