Story 1: I don't blame OP a record sounding that sketchy I wonder why the government hasn't revoked the right to own a car and their driver's license
@MarsJenkar
@MarsJenkar 10 ай бұрын
If this story is based the US, then a license revocation is generally seen as a big deal because there are large sections of the country where if you have no car, it can seriously cripple your ability to live since most places are built around the assumption that you can drive, or get a ride, to where you need to go. These places are generally small towns or small isolated cities, so no bus, no train, not even taxi or rideshare. You have to do something like repeated DUI or kill someone in an accident that's down to your reckless driving in order to get your license revoked, and from the sound of things these people did not go to that extreme.

Story 2 - Married or not, NEVER combine finances. Always keep your accounts Separate. Your account, their account, and ONE joint account that is only for bills and emergencies. If things go bad then you split the money in the joint account and it's done.
@sicilianprincess-tm5nz
@sicilianprincess-tm5nz 10 ай бұрын
Nowadays I agree but when I got married everything went into one account . But we do make sure we know what we charge and pay it in full the next month. And we have a spending limit on our cards even though we have very high limits
@thePsiMatrix
@thePsiMatrix 10 ай бұрын
I'd say only combine finances for combined fiscal responsibilities like mortgage/rent (especially if both names are on agreements). If something terrible were to happen to a partner and they're the one with the account that pays for it; it can be a frustrating experience to gain control of the account. Everything else can and should be separate.

For story 2, for the boyfriend’s viewpoint, I think there’s the possibility that he has the “broke mindset”, which is possible based on the implication that his parents are first generation immigrants. I’m in a somewhat similar situation with my parents telling me not to spend so much money and to save like hell. My own bedroom severely lacks “fun little decor” because it’s kind of a waste of money when it could be spent on food or other necessities. Though I believe the boyfriend shouldn’t be so controlling of the girlfriend’s money, I can understand why he might have a “broke mentality”.

My mother does Before I went NC & we regularly would talk on the phone she would constantly tell me about this woman & her daughter. Basically that woman was the daughter she never had. She would help her financially & that woman's daughter would call her granny. Fun fact, when I (her actual daughter) needed financial help she would not help me Hearing how she would consider a stranger her daughter & would put her above me, was very hurtful. But honestly it's not the first time she put strangers above me rather than be there for her own daughter

8:20 the bra thing is not exactly an option, it’s underwear and an absolute necessity. There are different kinds of bras for different outfits and events and some of the bras out there have this thing called an underwire built in for support but after a while the cloth tears and exposes those wires and can severely damage your skin. I understand being broke but there are just some things that can’t wait.

Story 1: “Why should I give you my car when you know of your track record? Why should I be responsible and suffer because of the stupidity and blatant recklessness of another person?” There is NO good reason for OP to give them the car, at all. Story 4: AH. I agree with OP’s dad. OP isn’t being replaced and they made a stupid decision to cut off their parents, when they were probably concerned for their wellbeing, and they were kinda right, in a way. OP is being childish and petty. The world shouldn’t stop rotating because of OP’s experience. What did they expect their parents to do?

The first story. I would tell them to meet me at the dmv. If they ask why. Say "to transfer the car into your name." Mainly cause from what it sounds like. They don't want to. And when they start complaining saying that they want it now. Just then say "Why? So you can leach off of me and ruin my life?" Then just block them.

Story 1: If they won’t take on the full responsibility of owning a car, then they don’t deserve the privileges of owning a car. Especially after stealing OP’s first car as “punishment”. If OP paid for the car and insurance costs themself, she could file a police report for theft if the parents “took away the car” (illegal in that case). OP should never give/loan money to the sibling, let alone let them borrow either of their cars. Story 2: Why should you need YOUR BOYFRIEND’S PERMISSION, to spend YOUR OWN MONEY. Especially on essentials. Dump his controlling, sad, cheap @$$. Story 3: OP should either file for divorce or have her file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy if the debts are only in her name. Though really he should divorce her for being that reckless and awful. Story 4: OP did throw them out of her life, now she wants to check back into her family like a motel? To heck with her. YTA. Story 5: NTA. Expenses are expenses. Your dad wasn’t there for you, so you don’t owe him a thing.

Story 1: OP is not remotely a jerk and the sibling is a piece of trash. The poor track record the sibling has, along with being unable to get any kind of insurance is proof enough that they shouldn't be driving, but the added insults towards the OP, especially the comment about lying that the OP doesnt want a relationship with the dad is just wrong and crossing major lines. With all things considered, i know i wouldnt be helping that sibling out in any way shape or form. They are nothing more then just selfish leeches. Story 2: If he wants to be cheap and frugal with his money, then that's really his business.... but the line should be drawn when he makes comments about how you spend YOUR money. Getting that uptight over celery..... really?? Story 3: This is 100% the OP's business. If she's getting sore over that, then who knows what else she could be up to... and shes lying about the amount too. Keep a very close eye on your bank accounts before she drains you. Story 4: Yea the OP is a jerk here. At first i thought maybe the OP was misunderstood by running off and eloping with Mike and going no contact with the parents, but it became rather clear that the OP was being dumb and immature... made all the more valid by her actions coming back later on. The parents have every right to have their own friends and family and i see nothing wrong with them treating that person and her kids like family. The OP is just being stupid, selfish and acts like the parents owe her something..... which they dont. The parents should now go no contact with her over this. Story 5: OP is not a jerk here. It really sounds like the dad is trying to pull the "Why wont my kids visit me?" card here and its really pathetic. The dad, and the rest of the family, dont seem to be very good towards the OP and this just cements it all. The OP need to look after themselves first... especially when it comes to rent. If you cant afford to take the trip, then dont take it. It doesnt sound like the OP is really missing much anyways.

The parents in the story that replaced their daughter are AH. The daughter isnt a saint either but she said with encouragement from her ex to go no contact with the parents. This dude was mentally abusive in a passive way. In terms of most to least AH. Ex bf was the biggest AH, then the parents, and then the OP. No one is innocent but she isnt the most guilty of all them. Plus the daughter probably thought she was in love with the ex and we know people do stupid stuff when they think they are in love.

Story 4: Yeah, I am playing devil advocate here but the timeline on the parent meeting this family friend kind of fall in the same time as op eloping, at least that is what is said. So, they already replaced her before op and her ex broke up. There is moving on then there's just plain replacement. So yeah they replace her ahead of time so in that case, they are the jerks. I’m not going to lie and maybe it’s playing devils advocate. But there’s parts where I agree with the original poster in the first story but I also agree with the sibling. In a way it feels like the original poster and some parts think they’re a little better because like they said there’s sibling lives in a bad neighborhood and she’s like oh I’m not gonna go there cause it’s a bad neighborhood. But then she kind of wants to be judgmental when she learns there’s a weapon in the house, which is not illegal as long as it’s out of children’s. as long as it’s out of children’s reach. And also, we don’t know the whole story behind with the parents. But it seems like this original poster in the first story has problems with everyone in their family. And I don’t know if I heard correctly because I was distracted, but was there a part where they said they were their significant others wanted them to go left to see their family and they’re like no because I just don’t want to go see your family? Because if so, that seems a little selfish too, so again, I can see both sides. OK I know the original comment was long. I apologize everyone. But if anyone reads this, I would really appreciate it but I want to also put out in story number two. If they have different bank accounts and the girlfriend make some more kind of sounded like she’s asking him to buy these bangs like oh can you buy the bra? Can you buy the cell celery celery sorry I’m a little tongue-tied right now. So if she makes more instead of just asking him if she can do it or asking if we can buy it for her. And again she makes more money. Why don’t you she just buy them?

The op in the first story holds absolutely zero obligation to give the siblings or their family anything. If you actually hear how these adults (with children) have acted and treated their family as an atm. You'd understand why. The siblings don't take any accountability for their insanely irresponsible financial habits. Let alone being financially supported every day by someone else and they're not even grateful for that. Then with all this massive support from the op, they have the nerve to call them selfish because the OP doesn't wanna be responsible for their terrible past and future history . The OP not wanting to visit them because of the terrible neighborhood they live in is justified as well. The OP *is* better than their family because they're making better choices instead and supporting themselves rather than supporting people that complain about their crappy life, when it's their fault in the first place and won't make any effort to change it.

@@gigglesgaming131 look to me, no not wanting to go visit because of the neighborhood they live in is not just fired. I am in a similar situation where I have to pay rent to my dad because I still live at home and he’s not grateful for either. But they get mad because they know they don’t live in a safe neighborhood and be like oh they have a weapon in the house and that’s another reason. No that’s not justified.

I also think the am I the jerk narrator missed the fucking mark at the end that’s classic abuse on the bfs part manipulating op into going no contact with their parents the fact he got so huffy at that is mind boggling 😤 yes you are the asshole, it’s like slow your roll buddy and look at it from a different angle!

@@CajunReaper95 i’m not going to lie I used to like the narrator, but over the time I’ve stopped really liking this one. I miss all the other narrators. But I like the narrator they have for the second video of the day he seems more sympathetic to both sides. Well, I feel like this narrator jumps too quickly to take one side or the other.

With the fourth story the parents can go on with their lives but it’s not like you broke up with them your child is not a boyfriend or girlfriend in terms just because they don’t talk to you doesn’t mean you find a new one honestly I thought it was a bit shocking how a good friend the person who tells people if there’s a jerk or not agreed with it can’t expect them not to go on with their lives going on With your life it’s all right but replacing a daughter if they had another daughter that would be fine but they replaced her with an outside person name it five years ago honestly the parents of a jerk and that one

I had 3 strokes until i managed to understand this comment. The parents said they did not replace her she only was a good friend. Like how peoples kids call the parent's best friend uncle, they called them grandma and grandpa, probably little kids. OP was an idiot and is very immature.

How ??? They didn't replace her. They met a family friend 4 years after OP went off with some loser. You expect them not to have friends ???? They would have been friends with this lady regardless of whether OP was there or not. OP an immature child that needs to grow up
