Not to mention the presenter missed the most important part where the mother said "you WILL be there" IGNORING HIS CHOICE and telling him that he was forced to support his sister. He made it clear he did not want to be there and the mother made it clear that he was required to be there. He didn't want to spend the money to go to a place he didn't feel comfortable going and so the mother should have paid for the ticket Everyone likes to think that just because it's their wedding day that everyone else should kowtow to their every whim But you shouldn't be forced to keep the peace with somebody that you Don't want to Even if it is their wedding

Even if I don't know both sides, the sister ruined the sanctity of her vows by cheating. I would never support a cheater's wedding, even if it's family. She promised to be with him through richer for poorer, for better for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do they part, and she decided "Nah, I'm gonna cheat because I feel 'unhappy' at the moment." It annoys me how people disregard vows so much these days.

Exactly. Cheating is a big No, OP not supporting that is fine and correct. Furthermore she divorced and got re-engaged in 3 months, that’s massive sus. So I definitely wouldn’t support that. And then the defensiveness from mother and sisters… it reeks of narcissistic projection. So, no. His deal with dad is fair, specially after enduring immature harassment at the hands of sis 1&2. Story 1: OP's first problem was dating an exchange student in highschool.... this NEVER ends well, and a lot of exchanges programs highly discourage it and for some of them, its even grounds for getting them sent home. I never get why people just have to go to a dance or prom with someone.... its totally fine and acceptable to go alone. She could've very easily gone alone, and since she was trying to cheat, she deserved to have her ideal prom ruined and be bitter about it. Glad the OP had fun though. Story 2: Very well played indeed. A lot of neighbourhoods are banning or trying to ban those leaf blowers because of noise (they really are not that loud really), but the way the gardener came back with an even louder, legal machine is just hilarious. Enjoy the noise there, you old boot. I swear, those kinds of people would make noise complaints on people whispering. Story 3: Hey, the guy said send no Mexicans, and they didn't. Honduras isn't Mexico. Those kinds of people just label every hispanic person as "Mexican". Story 4: Time for an upgrade? What?? The mother is definitely a jerk here; why on earth would you do that? She did it simply to try and one-up the daughter, and that is just stupid and petty. I wouldn't allow the mom to the wedding if shes going to be this way. Story 5: Do not, under any circumstances, unban this cow of a woman. The future MIL totally deserved to be banned here. She's rude and a snag for no reason at all. Her son was also married and divorced too, so her comments were also very hypocritical as well. If other people are calling the OP a jerk here and wanting the MIL unbanned, then they deserve to be banner as well. Don't back down and go low to no contact. Story 6: I think that there is a LOT not being told here, so i can't really say who is and isn't a jerk here overall. The only one who is, is the cheating sister. I'll sling mud at her with no hesitation. Story 7: Stuff like this is why you shouldn't get tattoos based on people like that. I get the 'my body, my choice', but need to give it more thought. That being said, the new bf shouldn't really be upset here, as it really isn't that big of a deal here. It's 3 dots, not like a giant heart saying "i love you Rory" or something. OP and the bf need to talk more about this, or just break up. Story 8: While the daughter shouldn't be gloating that she has something that someone doesn't, the OP is not a jerk here at all. He has 50-50 custody with the ex, and he is totally within his rights to get his daugther something at his place. The ex needs to grow up here.
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd Жыл бұрын
Story 7: I disagree with this "That being said, the new bf shouldn't really be upset here, as it really isn't that big of a deal here." No one really has the right to say what is a big deal or not. To the BF it is obviously a big deal. Why? Because the tattoo is a symbol of OP's past relationship. It is the equivalent of her having tattooed her ex's name on her body. It is reasonable to set up the boundary and ask, "hey remove it or we are done." It is then up to OP to decide what she wants to do.
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd Жыл бұрын
@@sirei01 How is it toxic and abusive? The BF laid out his stance,”remove it or the relationship is over.” He did not do anything abusive. He did not say anything bad. Heck he did not even attempt to gaslight her. He stated his stance and stayed quiet and allowed OP to make her choice. Also, yes, it is a tattoo about 3 people but I disagree with the friends. When OP got the tat it was a tat about her, her friend, and her then boyfriend. It is nice OP is friends with her ex (i do believe this is fine). It is also nice OP did what was needed to make her BF aware of this friendship. However, her saying she is now friends with her ex does not stop what the tat symbolizes. That reasoning she, and you, are giving is akin to the following,”oh my ex and I are so good friends that I am keeping the tattoo of his name on my body, even though I got it when we were together.” I really dont know about you but that phrase sounds wild and I can understand why some people (OP’s BF) would go,”nope not dealing with that”. Also, why is it a guy’s boundary is “toxic” “abusive” and “controlling” but a woman’s boundary is perfectly acceptable? Such a weird double standard tbh.

@@GiordanDiodato he isnt forcing her though. She is being given a choice. The tattoo or the BF. Being given a choice is not the same as being forced. It can be applied to any other sort of boundary or deal breaker. One person wants kids while the other doesnt? No one is being forced to have/not have kids. They are just being asked to make a choice. Obviously kids and tattoos are different but intensity aside, the concept is still the same.

Story 6: ah female bias once again. The situation is simple, the sister cheated. OP does not endorse cheating. So he does not go to the wedding. Simple. As for the mother and other sister of OP. This is also simple. They are endorsing a cheater’s relationship. OP does not want to be associated with a cheater. So by proxy, these two and OP will drift apart. As for the dad and OP. Honestly, if the dad doesn't go to the engagement, I would take that as him endorsing the cheating and I'd go low/no contact with him. Also, it is important to note this is OP’s engagement. He can choose who he wants and it is not a jerk move. OP is also placing a boundary which is “I do not want a relationship with people who endorse cheating”. This is very reasonable. So yeah female bias strikes once again from AITJ, fun. -- Story 7: “Current Boyfriend’s insecurity” ah the bias shows once again. Why is it insecure to place a boundary? The BF does not like the symbol of Op’s past relationship. His boundary is simple. Keep it and the relationship is over or remove it and the relationship stays. This is a boundary and honestly a reasonable one at that. The tattoo is basically a less tacky equivalent of getting the ex’s name tattooed on OP’s body. That said. I don’t see any jerks here. OP is not the jerk for not wanting to remove it. She did everything needed to make her BF aware of her friendship with her Ex and she did not lie to him. So at this point it's really just a matter of boundaries for the two and when it comes down to boundaries I do not think either party is a jerk.

With your opinion on Story 6, I agree with everything except your opinion on the Dad. It's not his battle, and it's not fair that he's getting dragged into this. We shouldn't be labelling him as taking the cheater's side just because he's trying to stay neutral.
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd Жыл бұрын
I disagree. In this situation, there is no neutral and the father is just trying to avoid confrontation that will inevitability occur. The relationship between OP and the sister's + mom has already reached the point where the father needs to make a choice. Why? Because the father recognizes that if he goes to the engagement without his wife then a rift in the relationship occurs. Also, at some point there is a difference between trying to be neutral and fence sitting. The father, imo, is fence sitting. He is not doing sh*t. His wife and daughters are in the wrong and he should be supporting his son. So, imo, if he was to not go to OP's engagement I would take that as a sign as the father either a) looking out for himself b) endorsing his daughter's behavior c) not being willing to call out bad behavior None of which is something, I think, OP should associate himself with.
@Orca4135
@Orca4135 5 ай бұрын
I am shocked that you agreed with OP’s family about going to his sister’s second wedding. He was absolutely not the jerk! On this channel you've always said that blood relations doesn't mean family if they did something horrible to people you care about. OP was good friends with his brother in law, then his sister does one of the scummiest things a person can do, cheats, gets a divorce, and then marries the person she cheated with. If I was OP, no matter how my relationship with my sister was beforehand, I would fully support the brother in law unless there were EXTREME extenuating circumstances. I also agree with OP's decision to shun his mother for supporting this disgusting behavior. As for the trip with his girlfriend, I would much rather have a trip with my girlfriend than go to the wedding between my unfaithful sister and the rat who she cheated with. I understand that this puts the father in a tough spot, but he is free to decide what he wants to do, and so long as OP holds no grudges about his dad's decision here, I think he was in the right the whole way, and congrats on your engagement by the way OP!

In regards to story 6: there is a time and a place for making peace, this isn’t one of them. While the “idea” of fairytale wonderland where everyone gets along together is nice, it absolutely isn’t realistic or even ethical at time. The sister cheated on her husband, there is no excuse for that. No magical “behind the scenes” that forgives that. The OP set his boundaries pain and simple, if they truly wanted him there, they could pay for it. They said no and he stood for his boundaries and I respect him for that. He never said that he didn’t have enough to pay for a ticket, he just didn’t want to invest his money and time on a cheater of a sister. This is similar to a family member asking money for a car, so everyone pitches in and helps, then said family member purposely crashes new car and then expects everyone to help with another car. Why should OP have to waste his time on that? And while I can understand the mom maybe being a little biased, it’s natural for a parent to want to take their child side, even if it’s the wrong side. Everyone but the OP and the dad(ish) is a jerk, including you to an extent @AmITheJerk

17:45 I really disagree, it’s the boyfriends choice whether he dates you or not, he can choose to end the relationship for any reason. I don’t think I’d date a girl who kept a tattoo she got for her ex boyfriend. There is obviously some residual feelings there. If he wants to end it, it’s really entirely his choice.

Okay....... The story about the mom and sisters harping on the op for not spending money on the plane ticket to the second wedding. But shelling out money for a trip with his girlfriend...... Not the jerk. As someone who lives "across country" from a lot of family and the like with what op says. While burning few hundred dollars in a road trip, or an off shore boat trip(boat goes out a few days and comes back to the same port it left). Compared to spending thousands of dollars to hop across the country to be at a wedding you pretty recently heard about with the divorce 3 months prior. Op basically said how he lived a ways away from the family and information was spotty, so I can assume that the divorce was as much a shock as the remarriage too. Couple that with the trip, even if you ball park op living in Florida and the family living in Maine. Pending on the time of the year, the duration of the time between arriving and departing flights. Round about 3k for the trip. Even more if say that the family lives in California and the op lived in Connecticut. If they Insist the op "HAS TO BE" at the wedding then they should be more than happy to foot the bill. Then there's the op's own wedding. While yes kind of a dick move to invite dad but ban mom...... The least that can be done is a group phone call between dad, mom and op. To see if mom is apologetic, and if nothing else, show dad how much of a hench bitch she is being........ Now if she subtly is bitchy in apologizing, then the op can just not pay for her ticket to come out there for his wedding, or something. But end of story, op is NOT at fault, mom and sisters are. Sister for not keeping her legs closed, other sister for being an angry mouth piece and mom for not only demanding presence for cluster fuck wedding. But also denial to at least fork over some money to help op buy their ride over and secure some lodging for the time spent there....... Honestly there's more going on here than just the wedding, op hop skipped and jumped across the country from home for a reason apparently.

Gonna make another point in the dad's favor and ask how truthful the mom is being about her gloating. She said the other two kid's parents are having financial issues, but the question is did she take her daughter being excited at the prospect of getting a PS5 as outright gloating and use that to try and keep her from getting one? We don't know, and from the way the dad talks about her and having spent time with her, he would probably know pretty well if she would go around gloating like that or not, and he never promised her mother he wouldn't get it for her in the first place.

Story 1: this is a clear case of “your actions always have consequences.” Story 2: well played. Karen got what she deserved lol. Story 3: love when racists get schooled and put in their place. Well done OP. Story 4: talk about entitled. Story 5: DON’T let that woman attend your wedding. She will ruin your day on purpose. Story 6: you are putting a lot of pressure and stress on your dad, because of your sister’s actions that you don’t agree with. You don’t have to invite your sisters, but leaving your mom out is not cool. Story 7: if your boyfriend is going to “demand” you to get rid of your tattoo after knowing ahead of time of your friendship with the ex, then you don’t want to be with a person like that and should breakup with him. Story 8: if the daughter is throwing her privileges into her step-siblings faces and making them feel bad, then she doesn’t deserve the gift no matter what she got on her test. You are teaching her how to be an entitled brat that will become an entitled Karen in the future.

The Cheater's Wedding story: While I am one who tries to keep peace. I will never actively condone forcing someone to attend a function they're not comfortable to attend. If I convinced them or are willing to go under a condition, OP was willing, they are doing it out as an act politeness and should not be made to pay their way. As for the OP's side understanding "what went on behind closed doors" is not their responsibility it was the OP's family's responsibility to explain it. Pettiness aside, this entire situation only served to show the OP's family's true colours. Where instead of respecting their decision the WHOLE family just berate the OP. WTF? As I've said I am one who tries to keep peace or at the very least remain neutral but why do so if it's at the the expense of of your own peace? At this point one must make a stand.

Story 7: why is it always insecure if a guy has standards and boundaries. If a tattoo of a ex is a big no for this bf then he has that right to ask OP to get it lasered off and OP also has to option to walk away from the relationship if that tattoo is more important than a potential future husband. Narrator really needs to stop simping.

@animegamer501stthelastyeet8 if that's the case okay. But that's separate from this. Even if you feel something might be going on between them now suddenly you address that. Not back track on something you said you were cool with before. Man or woman that's a lie and it's wrong. If it's that big a deal he should already be packing up the relationship not gonna work if that boundary that you were aware of was crossed before getting together. Instead he chose to manipulate and control her. Idk how it's so hard to see the dishonesty came from him. She made everything public for him to decide what he was comfortable with and move on if it was too much and now that they are actually together for months he's suddenly hurt by their friendship that's existed most of their lives and stayed friends years after splitting lol. If you think you gotta get your partner drunk to get the truth. Then leave lol. All this justification for pure bitch behavior is crazy even wilder to have the the original comment call him the video host a simp and the man in question is the one in his feelings 3 months into a relationship. And demanding surgical procedures lmao

Story 4: The mother was not only jealous in a petty, disrespectful way, but also stupid. She insisted on buying an expensive new ring to one-up her own daughter, but did so when she knew she and her spouse were having money problems. I hope she has to declare bankruptcy. Story 5: The fiance's mother was not only truly obnoxious, but also a female misogynist. Seriously, what year was she born? The turn of the century?! Nobody but the fiance's mother will care that her son is marrying a woman who already has a kid; the fiance's mother is completely alone in that regard. Plus, the fiance's mother is a hypocrite ('ironic" is not the right word for it)! The OP was married to her daughter's father and got pregnant after the wedding (before the first husband abandoned them), while the fiance's first marriage was a shotgun that had his son born seven months after the wedding! Also, it felt like she was targeting the OP's eight-year-old daughter. No wonder the OP went mother bear on her fiance's mom! Story 6: Does the OP's mother actually supposed to support the fact that his sister, Bella, is an adulterer and a possible serial spouse? Very hypocritical for someone who is religious. "Do the right thing?" What exactly is the right thing? Also, Bella is definitely going to cheat on her next husband, who is an idiot if he expects otherwise.

On Story number 6 I don't think original poster is the jerk. It was stated that the sister did cheat with her first husband and it was also stated that three years later they went through a divorce. It sounds like she's rushing the second one. Sure the original poster might have had the money to go but what if they had been planning to save up for this trip for awhile? They just happen to find love along the way. It doesn't seem like the original poster is being a jerk in my opinion because this is the sisters second marriage and while yes, the brother could say that the he does support his sister, we also have to take into account that the sister cheated and was rushing things for the second relationship as it was 3 years and then divorce for the first one. She just doesn't have her head on straight and doesn't know what she wants and is rushing things too fast is what I'm hearing. I think the family is the jerk in this aspect and not the father mind you because the father doesn't want any of the drama. I can understand where both sides are coming from. And as you say I'm playing devil's advocate here. Sure we don't know what happened with the sister and husband during the first part of the relationship and wedding and what happened after that except for the divorce and a little bit of cheating or something like that, but we do know that she went through a divorce 3 years after which means she obviously had a lot of tension with her husband at that time up to that point which caused it to get to the breaking point. Why should the original poster have to deal with another lump sum of money that could just end up in another divorce? Especially when things were rushed. Original poster is not the joke but everyone except for the father is just a little bit of a jerk on the original poster side of the family. You don't have to be there to give your support to a family member. You could be there via video chat or something like that. I understand it's not as meaningful but sometimes you've got to do what has to be done and especially since it's obvious she had a falling-out and was cheating on the first relationship and rushed the second marriage. Kind of her fault there. Why would somebody want to support something like that? I mean come on, that's not right supporting cheating like that and especially then that short amount of time getting remarried. Sounds like she has no shame at all. Hope her second husband was smart enough to have her sign a prenup.

Big yikes. Glad he's an ex. If someone gets upset about you having a tattoo, big red flag, especially if they keep it a secret and then reveal later that they hate it. Concern over whether a person is sure about a tattoo is no big deal but telling their partner after being involved and knowing about the tattoo that they don't like is a big red flag. It seems borderline controlling, like the people who once you start dating them, they start to tell you to change your outfits or tell you to stop expressing yourself. I'm planning on getting a stargazer lily tattoo on my arm in memory of my mom and if I end up with a partner who doesn't like it, then that partner can suck it and look for someone else.

Story 8: Being that the daughter earned it, it is not her fault that her mother's other sperm donors are not well off. This is a personal problem of the mother, and has nothing to do with the child, and what her father can offer for her. She needs to get a grip and stop opening her legs for every Tyrone, Pookie, and Ray-Ray. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Back when I was stupid enough to date single mothers _(defined as women who have children out of wedlock and never being married),_ I had a girlfriend who had 3 children, and all 3 had different fathers.the middle child had a father making $35 per hour (which was a big deal back in the 1990's), and the middle child's father would pay for very nice clothing (Lacoste, Fila, and other middle tier to high end clothing), while the other two, the eldest's father was doing a life sentence for malice murder with robbery, and the youngest child's father was playing crazy, to get state welfare benefits and SSI (possibly to avoid paying child support for all 8 of his kids, from 7 different women). The fact of the matter was, that the middle child's father also paid to send all 3 to private schooling (Tuition was about $2000-3000 per semester per child). At the time, I worked as a service technician for Xerox, and went to college part time (just 2 classes per week) she would get angry every time he got his kid something nice, and would badger him into buying things for her other two kids. Me, being in my early 20's, realized that this was not right. I was actually on friendly terms with the father (and we are still friends, 25 years later... It is a shame that his son was murdered due to mistaken identity... He was misidentified as a known gang member, back in 2015... He would be around 30 if he were still alive. The eldest was a girl, and currently following after her mother... 7 kids, 5 different guys, no marriage, and the youngest, a boy is now a supervisor at a postage handling company -- I forgot which one... Possibly DHL or UPS). And I told him that he was not responsible for kids that he did not sire. He gave me the song and dance that if he did not do for the other kids, likely she would use the courts to withhold his son from him. Anyhow, I then tried working on my (now) ex-girlfriend to make sure that she does the amicable thing for the middle child's dad.her and I dated for less than a year, but my influence lasted for far longer. To the point that she laid off the guy, and instead put her two other kids in public school, as the middle son continued private school alone. Granted, in hindsight, it probably would have been better for the other two to have continued at the private school, considering it was a school with high academic standards, whereas the public school that they were forced to go to (by the school district), was considered to be the worst performing school in the city that I lived in. It is a good thing that the youngest ended up graduating top of his class. The eldest.... Dropped out because she got pregnant in the 9th grade. 🤷🏽‍♂️ The point is, that the father who is well off is not responsible for the kids that are not his, even though they are (half) siblings, and it is not the fault of the child who's father is well off, if he gives *his own child* nice things, *_if the father of the other children are not well off._* He is not responsible for them.

Story 6 there is no way the brother is the jerk in any way. He dosent want to support her gross cheating behavior and shouldn't. Its called having a moral conpass and standards to live by. The only thing him giving in is going to accomplish is his mom and sisters are going to continue thinking what they are doing is acceptable. They event went out of their way to being the drama to social media and the dad is being useless and refusing to call them out on it is not helping. This just shows he enables boths his wifes and daughters behavior and probably never stood up to them. Its also ridiculous how you have to make up potential negative events in your head amd pretend they are reality just to make op out as the jerk. You dont know what happened behind closed doors which is why you shouldn't have brought up something you have no knowledge on to make a point. You do however know the sister cheated and can make an assumption thats why the relationship ended. Not made up scenarios in your head that cantbbe proven. I really like the channel but you start to sound like Twitter when you need to scew reality to support opinions.
