story 1: I witnessed something like this at a gas station. A woman came in and made a purchase of $6 in gas station food. She then tried to make a separate purchase of $6 of gas on a pump. To be clear $6 is less than 2 gallons of gas. You only put that little in your car if you are broke and running on empty. Her card gets declined for the gas and I realized what she was trying to do. She was hoping to use her last $6 to make 2 separate purchases for the same amount. While she was correct it would take a while for the first charge to process, her card put the amount on pending immediately so she could not use it. Realizing she needed the gas more than the food she proceeds to return the items she just purchased. This is normally not allowed at a gas station but since the items had not left the store since purchase the clerk allowed it. She then tried to buy her gas again and it was still declined. The clerk then told her that it would take 1-3 days for the charge to return to her card. She said nevermind then and demanded they give her back her bag of food. The clerk refused because she had already returned it. She demanded they cancel the return but the clerk said it was impossible. she then asked to speak to a manager. The manager told her the same thing as the clerk so she asked for his corporate boss. He shrugged and gave her the number. On her way out of the store she intentionally tipped over a water cooler, breaking the jug and spilling water in front of the doors. The manager followed her out to her SUV and started taking pictures of her license plate. She sped off as fast as she could. To recap: she wasted time and gas coming to the station, she ruined her own chance to buy gas by trying to trick her card and then she did not even get to keep the food she bought and tied up all of her finances for 1-3 days. She also managed to get the corporate number but I guarantee she will not be calling them because they have her on CTV trashing the water cooler. Finally she wasted more gas speeding off.

@@map_take_nap I guess. Guy owed me 14.01. He said he only had 10 on him, and asked if he could pay the rest with his debit card. Guy hands me over the 10$ bills and I proceed to charge 4.01 on his card. He then calls me a theif because I should have charged him 4$ flat because "he paid cash" . Told him that it's not how that works because he's also paying parts of it with his card, so I don't have to round it up/down to the nearest 5 cents. He started screaming at me, I told him to get the eff out. He told me he's gonna get me fired. I replied with "Go ahead, I don't care. It's literally my last day, and I alreadybstarted my new job" He then said "Oh good, because otherwise, I dunno what I would have done to you" To which I replied " Oh, you're threatening me now? Come at me bro, ans then let's see see who the police will side with" He simply stormed off, yelling me to go eff myself.

Last story, the poster did not get promoted because he was doing two jobs for the price of one. Promoting him would eliminate their little helper and quite possibly require hiring 2 people to take his place. I have seen this happen many times, workers are too efficient in their current position and it would cause the company more money to replace them than it would to keep them in place. That's why you need to do the bare minimum to keep the job and at most 10% extra to get promoted. Any more is just giving the boss free labor.

Not only age and gender play a role. Hard working is often punished exactly as OP described, because it makes the company rely on that person for that particular role so they don't move them up, or it makes the company think twice about promoting them and paying them more for a job that they are already doing with lower pay.

My little brother pulled the same stunt as “dress code dude” when, his freshman year, the school principal decided to change the dress code suddenly, disallowing shorts to be worn at school. He borrowed a friend’s leather micro skirt, because they were not banned, meaning that the girls could still have bare legs on hot days. There was nothing about gender written into the new policy. The new code was immediately rescinded and my brother was told to go change into his gym clothes.

Story 5: Back when I worked in an Ice Cream Parlor at Knott’s Berry Farm I worked hard and then a person who was the same age as me was promoted to shift lead and I was stuck as a Runner and they would always send me home after 2 hours when my shift would start at 11:00 in the morning and I would take my Break at 1:00 in the afternoon. I kept complaining to management asking why I was being sent home early before everyone else telling them that I’m an extrovert temperament type and need to be around other people to keep my mental batteries charged and that I was always stuck working alone in the back. Eventually my supervisor retired and we had a revolving door of our managers serving as supervisors. One day I was cleaning the break room part way through my break so I clocked out for my break 15 minutes later than usual and when I came back from my break at 1:30 D who was one of my shift leads came storming back and started bitching at me for “Taking Too Long of a Break.” I showed him my time card and the sign out sheet and he just said “Oh it doesn’t Matter, You still took too long of a Break.” I LOST my cool and threw a double punch at him but the blow didn’t make contact because I pulled it back before it actually landed. He ran over to the shop phone and called our managers. The Managers came over and talked to us. They suspended me for a few weeks while they conducted an investigation before they called me in saying they wanted to talk to me. I asked the managers if I was fired and they actually lied to me on the phone and said “No, No. You aren’t fired.” I went into the meeting and they said “Here’s your last direct deposit and here’s your last paycheck. Get out, You’re fired.” I was stunned. Now here’s the irony. Shortly after I was fired, D got fired himself.

Last guy I believe he was clearly a jerk as Ann at least didnt do anything to him and even asked for help. I mean he went as far as to make her leave just for a work position. Bruh if your superiors take another person that applied for the job instead of you he could go on with the looking for another company and help the girl to at least make her understand her work better. Then if she ends up failing at her job when you leave it will be her own failure, or if she was so prideful that she didnt ask him for help it would have been her own fault. But refusing to help her after being asked (it doesnt exactly mentions how she asked that) and refusing just because you are mad with your superiors? That is simply mean af
