Story 4 - You and your manager should both be fired. Tipping IS ALWAYS OPTIONAL AND SO IS THE AMOUNT. You DO NOT just Deserve a tip. A tip is given at the CUSTOMERS DISCRETION.

Story 4: Even though it is a curtsy to leave a tip, it is not mandatory, OPs Manager should have been reprimanded for how they acted. Places really need to pay their employees properly, and not put that burden on the customer.

"This is how my staff makes money" translates to "I'm underpaying my employees" especially from a GM. You're general management, you're responsible for paying your employees, not the customer. The part that I find funny is that this is the exact same narrator who in a past video, agreed with an OP about the negative view of tips. Personally, I'd prefer tips to be an appreciation of the giver as opposed to an expectation of the receiver, & if I tip, I do so directly to my server straight cash, but come on man, that doesn't make you Roman Reigns.

(F* off, KZbin. Stop removing my posts, they don’t violate your stupid arbitrarily enforced “rules”). Story 1: I hate people who line jump. It’s a clear indication of entitlement. OP and friends did the right thing. Also, the Karen’s friend needs to mind her own business, people can talk all they want to about her friend. Story 2: I’d be careful, OP. He may try to steal everything to claim as “inheritance”. Story 3: NTA. That is such horrible parenting. Favoritism among siblings is abusive. Feel free to vilify your mom and sister. Stop being so nice. Story 4: Uhhh, no. I’ve been a waitress on and off in my many different day jobs. Bullying a customer to tip just because they don’t pay the waitstaff or bartender enough is not the way to go about it. Customers who don’t tip are horrible, granted. But the management is no better to try to shake down the customer.
@firefly4f410 ай бұрын
For the teenager story, if OP can sit down with their mother and another family member as a mediator/moderator, then that would probably be the best way to talk about it. I agree that it's hypocritical to treat the children so different, and it might take having another person there to help explain that.

The manager isn’t really sticking up for their staff if they aren’t ensuring they have a liveable wage and are instead harassing customers over an optional bill and guilt tripping them.

Story 4: tipping is an American thing, in Europe we in general don't tip and in Finland where i'm from we never ever tip. We simply refuse to be part of that exploitation system. When tipping is not even an option restaurants actually have to pay acceptable wages, otherwise no one wants to work in those places. Now, looking that situation from eyes of a Finnish person, that was a hole move from restaurant boss, they were paying customers and it's not really that customers fault if America have some twisted exploitation customs. And by the way, i wouldn't give a tip either if i was visiting in USA. Whole system is morally wrong and i wont be part of it.
@bobm595110 ай бұрын
Tipping is SUPPOSED to be completely at the customer's discretion. Wether or not to give one And the amount. It is meant to be for (from that customers view) exemplary service. It used to be a 1 to 1 cash transaction. From customer to server. Purely cash in their pocket. But then all this stupid nonsense of all the employees pooling and dividing them started and having to claim it as income. It all brought us to the disaster we've got now, along with people feeling entitled to a tip when they didn't do anything more than hand you a cup or something when you're standing right at a counter. Anyway my point was that it Used to be a whole lot more simple and now it's just a giant mess that nobody wants to deal with anymore.
@Tontteman10 ай бұрын
@@bobm5951 Yes, i think it really should be banned completely and all those people who are now getting large part of their wages as tips, would then start to get normal wages. It's something they should have done at that very first second when employers first time started to use tips as part of wages. It's evil system and it's kind of modern day slavery. People shouldn't have to beg for their wages, wages they have earned regardless if someone tips them or not.
@thecornpoop429710 ай бұрын
story 4- Narrator is missing the fact that tipping is literally just an optional act of kindness, and it shouldn’t be required from anyone, no matter how good a service was, especially if a customer pays over $100 just for their service. I feel bad for the customer and I hope they find a better bar to go to. GM needs to learn to pay their employees right and not expect their customers to do so, and OP needs to treat customers with respect and should not be expecting them to spoil them with tips every time.

Tip story: People working in that industry need to stand up for themselves. Tipping culture has gone way too far. It was only ever meant to be an extra thank you, not a means for employers to stop paying their associates. Make waves people. You can end it, you just have to do it. The expense of your customers is not the right way to pay your bills. I will happily pay more for my food as the cost of convenience and luxury. You should be paid properly.

Not a crime in the literal sense, but it's definitely frowned upon if you don't tip your server (restaurant), or room service or housekeeping (hotel) without a good reason. I do think the tip culture here goes way too far, but it's emerged from how the wage laws here are set up, and if US tip culture is gonna be reined in, then those laws have to change first.

The whole time, from the start of the 2nd story I had this feeling there is way more behind this than just him hating his parents & then we get the info that this creep first tried to be with 2 of OPs cousins because they have money and after that he tried it with OP, too. It seems the whole family is coming from money and this is actually what the whole thing is about. I think at some point he will claim to be an heir of that money, if somone passes, claiming he is entitled to it, since OPs parents are his own parents & OP is his sister. Or he might even coax the parents into adding him to their will & him then going as far as going to court since he is the oldest son, or something like this. Of course I might be wrong, but I think OP & the cousins need to protect themselves against possible fraudulent claims like this

The second story: it’s definitely creepy however it wouldn’t be as weird (in my opinion) because my siblings have a friend who is around their age (mid 30’s) who calls my mom “mom” since they grew up together since high school/college. But by no means does he say he’s our sibling or anything. This situation is one of those ones where if it was a bit different it wouldn’t be as weird but since this man is the parent’s friend, it’s definitely weird. And to force your own kids to do this too? I question this guy’s parenting skills

She’s getting a free trip and all she’s doing is whining oh, I have to share a room with my kids. I want to be able to not be a parent for X amount of time. OK yeah she might not want to go on the trip, but like the narrator did print out she agreed to go she didn’t have to go. But then she’s also whining about. about not getting a separate room from her kids. Here’s a thing I agree with the husband on that one. She’s the one that wants to separate room. Why doesn’t she call her father-in-law it sounds like the husband doesn’t care if they have a separate room or not.
