Even when the current crisis is "over"... these tips will keep you from making the same mistakes and help you better plan for the future. With the coming rush for more gun control, we're going to see this again. Don't get caught paying through the nose for ammunition.

Hello Jeff. I'm not sure if you remember or not but we did a live webinar about 9 years ago. I was the one who stated " rock climbers and cavers use batteries as currency, for good reason" . During the webinar, i also addressed the potential of an ammo shortage, which we are currently seeing and the availability of certain ammunition calibers. Its always been a point of mine, rule of thumb really, to stick with the calibers that NATO and US armed forces use as these would always have higher availability vs, 16g shotgun or 35 Remington for example. Keep up the good work

I totally agree that some people are asking for too much thinking they need a huge stash of ammunition and they also want plenty of it for tactical training. They want to save it and also use it. You have not exactly said this, but training with airguns is very helpful and can allow one to keep their skills sharp. And your airsoft and paintball guns are good for shooting on the move and learning the difference between cover and concealment. Even when paintguns were much simpler pump-action gravity fed "markers" they were being used by Marines and Navy SEALs. Ammo is not the only thing that is hard to find and many people can't do the things they want to.

So true MasterK9Trainer. In the military we would even use long sticks to practice tactics, communication, response actions, etc. A lot can be done without a bullet, eh? Thanks for your input! Much appreciated! :-)

Your screwed too when you can't buy primers and powder, or find brass and projectiles

In ordered 1000 rds of Wolf .223 steel case in August of 2020. Still haven’t got my order. It was $237 then and it’s now $699. They have it in stock and won’t fill my order. They changed the item number to make sure it won’t fill my order. SportsmansGuide is the crooked company.

Been watching your videos and listening to your podcasts since the early Modern Combat & Survival days. I even have an original X-BOB from a few years ago. Really digging the new format and quality of these videos. Looking forward to seeing more. 👏

What good is your gun without ammo? Looking forward to seeing the price of guns go down. Eventually people will figure out a nail gun is better home defense than an empty sig.
Other than 22LR I reload for practice and hunting. For carry ammo I use a commercial round. Primers are a challenge.

To make birdshot you drip molten lead into water bath. The bigger the shot size the harder it is to make. Buckshot is easier to cast.

The local on line only depot has two or three semi-trucks a day in. And 2 or 3 UPS out.

Picked up some 9 mm at a reasonable price the other day. The problem has been rationing

I wont pay gougers prices, but I've always stocked up when it was cheap, but got caught short on training 9mm an some of the specialty hunting ammo, but I can make do with what I have, thx.

Yeah these are the worst tips I've heard yet. Tip #1 should be stay the fuck out of small gun shops. You just said it yourself they were charging $40 for a box of 223. They price gouge the living shit out of everyone and a lot of them have no choice because they don't get the big box discounts. I've bought all of my ammo from Cabela's during this shortage and have never paid more than 30 cents a round for 9mm. The only downside is you have to put in the work to go there. You should ONLY be shopping at the big box stores if your goal is to save $$. Bad advice here. Paying the outrageous prices small shops charge is what keeps the prices high.
@Warrior3 жыл бұрын
These are two different issues @TheGreatOne. When the big box stores run OUT of ammunition (as they have), then you're going to be forced to find another source. With fewer choices, prices increase. Basic "supply and demand" economy principles. So while you may have found a savings at your local Cabela's, this isn't the case in other areas - and not the case if Cabela's runs out. Plus, the other tips still apply (not sure if you saw them) and there's savings to be made in some of the other considerations. Thanks for commenting.

I think you are a little late on giving tips on how to buy Ammo been seeing videos on this since last year
@Warrior3 жыл бұрын
I was a bit busy last year Manuel. But thanks for the kick in the butt. Regardless, these aren't meant to be for "just now". Good advice going forward for finding ammunition when stockpiles are low.
