Awesome video as always! I've tried SHB-1. I liked Bass Grinder's different cabs. TSE BOD is very versatile-so cool!

Great selection here man. When I found BOD and scooped it, simply perfect never looked back.

Thanks man, yeah that plugins is insane, and its super old, I remember when I found it many years ago.

I used it back in 2007ish. Then it stayed 32 bits and I could not use it anymore with the new Cubase, and I was so happy when I discovered it got updated to 64.

I really like this free Audio Assault Bass Grinder version, really rough/dirty sound. In my metal project I am using a blend of Audio Assault Dualit Bass (clean sound) and Parallax (drive sound).
@AmnerHunter3 жыл бұрын
Awesome, sounds like a cool blend.

I needed this video, thank you! I've been using Neural DSP Darkglass for some time, but I'm tired of the distorted metal sound of it. Furthermore, I think Neural DSP in general is very Metal limited, one of its flaws, definitely.

The BOD into the Nalex AMPEG into a Ownhammer Ampeg SVT 4X12 cab IR is my current bass recording rig after many months of using Paralax - just found myself getting a little bogged down in option paralysis with it despite its great sound.
@Rndhld3 жыл бұрын
Buy the real hardware Bod used and something to smash the signal on the way in if you have a bit of extra money. You'll never go back lol

Alot of people use that BOD its great. Its really hard to beat Paralax though. The dual distortion is really good.

I use the BOD - I write punk grunge stuff so I like to feel the bass in the mix as appose to hearing it.
@michaelhankins29293 жыл бұрын
Of course thanks. It's very cool to see one dedicated to bass players. I have to play my own bass lines at this point, so I love this. I'm kind of excited to try out the Bass Amp by Nalix. If it's anything like the Pectifier they put out, I'll be one happy camper cause the Pectifier kicks much ass. I've been playing with it all day and I've finally found my goto guitar amp for recording. It sounds good with my stock passive Ibanez pickups, my passive EMGs, my active EMGs AND my active Tesla AH2s. As well as all the different tunings I use. So thanks for that one too. I tried the ML-Sound-Lab-Amped-Dual, but it kind of let me down. Stay safe bro.

I also record my own basslines, its awesome that amp sim from Nalex, love that ampeg emulation.

The Ignite, the BOD, the Nalex (the mids!!! in the nalex!!!) stand out to me. A problem with the Krank and the Bass Deluxe is they have many parameters so with no time to dial them it's might not give them justice. I was also impressed by the JST, the simplicity of it, the user interface. For metal bass, less is more. For real, just go out on your local ads i buy a Sans-amp bass DI, it's as cheap as a plugin and you get easily get it right at the source with very little mixing needed after the take. A cheap compressor (FMR RNC or wtv) goes a long way and saves you CPU and time. Then in the daw you can run a duplicate track for mid focused band grit at a lower volume if the mix calls for it. That's my two cents. The Nalex stands out the most in the a mix. It's very good.
@Rndhld3 жыл бұрын
For the compressor, a used DBX unit would work, really, it's metal bass, it's nothing to go fancy about ;)
@MaximusAdonicus3 жыл бұрын
I thought the Ignite and BOD were the best from the free ones too. But the Nalex got totally lost in the mix and didn't cut thru, so I was disappointed :( But this might be cured with a different mix/guitar vst...
@Rndhld3 жыл бұрын
@@MaximusAdonicus Yeah, the cool thing is that a used BOD on the local adds runs cheaper than a neural dsp plugins y'know ;) it's kinda cool
@MaximusAdonicus3 жыл бұрын
@@Rndhld I'm almost entirely dedicated to free plugins instead of any overpriced stuff 😁 Hardware wise I like to keep it minimal: just geetaars and a solid audio-interface 😜
@Rndhld3 жыл бұрын
@@MaximusAdonicus same for me; but a 100$ DI pedal goes a longggggg way into getting your life easier lol, a cheap compressor for vocals too. FMR RNC, ART PRO VLA, i agree for the most part. You kinda get mix ready stuff direct, it's faster.
