Amazing bloom bill! A heavy warm rainstorm, is what normally wakes up these plants, happend to all mine. 2 weeks after the rain leafs came up. No flower this year tho. Also they like way more shade than konjac, full shade, no direct sun unless in the morning maybe. Bulbifer is more tropical. Bulbifer also makes the bulbs on the leaf and rarely divides itself in the ground.

Thanks for the tips! It’s funny that you say growth is triggered by lots of rain.. this year has been one of the wettest that I can remember and it’s not starting to grow until now…. Lol. I was actually worried it might have died of rot.

@@PlantzNThings had a heatwave early summer and they didnt grew at all. You say it was super wet? Maybe just a weird plant. I got hardy ginger that first started to grow now at the end of the season.

Am surprised it bloomed so late in the season ! I used to have a bunch of Konjac Amorphophallus bulbs. Stored them dry In Wisconsin over winter and planted them out in spring. The flower stalk usually came up soon after, followed by a leaf stalk after the flower stalk died away. Unfortunately after I moved closer to lake Michigan where summers are cooler my bulbs got smaller and smaller till they were not able to survive the long winters in storage. So I no longer have them.

Well done, Bill. What a great botanical oddity! I don't have bulbifer, just konjac.

Thought I had lost my Amorphophallus Konjac due to it going 6 months w/o water. Dug up the corm ... smaller, but still there, so replanted.. Just this week I see a few pointy stalks coming up... it's confused too. ha
