It's really more of a hot-rodded Crate/Ampeg GX/VH. James Brown based this pedal on those amps (his admission), he also designed the 5150.

Excellent demo! I think the big selling point on the TMP 2 is the built in res/pres. I got my TMP modded to have them added, and it takes the pedal to a whole new world. Really looking forward to the Ceres shootout. With regards to the Fat Metal, it's my understanding that the Fat switches gets you most of what the Fat Metal brings. A thicker low end. I'd be curious to hear the difference, but I don't think there'll be a huge difference between the TMP with fat mode engaged and the actual Fat Metal.
@PariahVSGear3 жыл бұрын
Good to know dude! And yeah, I forgot that the original didn't have the res/presence! That explains why I like it so much more haha

Have you tried the older version made while James Brown was still at Amptweaker? I’d be interested in a comparison between the two to hear if there are any differences
@PariahVSGear2 жыл бұрын
I did. Personally, I prefer the second version. If I'm remembering correctly the original didn't have a presence knob, which was a pretty big deal to me
@slayabouts2 жыл бұрын
@@PariahVSGear It didn’t, just an edge vs smooth switch. Really from what I can tell the only thing missing is a gain level, with the old one being able to be set for lower or higher gain. Everything else about the second looks to be an improvement. I like the mildly cringey skull too

Definitely can’t wait pick this up soon! Sounds amazing with the parallel drive. Is the cloud drive the same as your parallel drive? I saw u said this is about as good as the Ceres and that’s saying a lot. Can’t wait to hear the comparison! Awesome video as always!

As usual this doesn't come with an adapter. All I could find is '39mA with 9V adapter' but it doesn't say tip size or which is positive and which is negative. So what power supply/adapter do I need to get? Doesn't say on their website.

@@PariahVSGear I went to buy a 7 but found the tention too low off the rack with most being 25.5 so went for a 28" 8 and since steph carpenter was now on 8s at the time I skipped 7s. Building a 9 string at the mo (since steph now plays 9 lol)

@@PariahVSGear Hey Pariah just found this video and these new Tightmetals and figured out that James left the company. Do you think this is worth getting over a Pro 1 or should I get the original and trust James’s design?
@PariahVSGear3 жыл бұрын
Tough one dude...I THINK it boils down to personal preference. Tonally, I greatly prefer the new one PERSONALLY..they sound very similar, but the presence/resonance make a huge difference for me. The main thing I think was better on the originals was build quality, but my new pedals haven't broken on me or anything..one of the foot switches was just a little weird for a bit there.
@robacdc19773 жыл бұрын
@@PariahVSGear Well as long as it can still get that Ampeg VH sound perfect that’s all that matters. Though I will say, the originals looked better imo. Thanks for the review boss, you got a subscriber!

Yeah, pretty much all the modern high gainers are SLO based on the preamp. Rectos, Uberschall, Peavey, EVH, KSR, Revv, Driftwood... All the same sound with minor differences in feel, response and a slightly different voicing that is barely audible unless you compare them side by side.
@chrisvuk30533 жыл бұрын
As before, it is a great sounding preamp. however, the new ascetic makes it look like a cheap knock off. I've always been curious how one of the 00's SS metal amps would compare to these modern pedals. I have a Ibanez TBX amp, and I feel it holds it own really well next to my ISP THETA. I've seen the 150w Ibanez TBX heads go for $100 dollars used recently. riff at 13:25 was sick.

I just recently got this, and $300, man I was very disappointed with this. What you were playing sounds great. I dunno for whatever reason maybe it’s my setup but to me it sounds for nasally and not that much gain. Thanks for your videos tho!
@PariahVSGear3 жыл бұрын
Really? Can I ask what your setup is?
@krissymf2 жыл бұрын
Ok. Pleae tell me what pickup you use. Pickups and the scale length and body of guitar - then we make settings. But for a good setting, try your Tight Meta Pro 2 in the return of your amp, not the input. Try noise gate at 2oclock, gain just before half way, thrash on and bass just over 1 o’clock, mid 2 oclock, high up to 1 oclock. HighGain switch on, mid boost switch on, but leave main boost off unless playing solos. Try this, but tell me why guitar you have if this doesn’t work. This pedal will get any metal sound right out the box.
