Man, this movie was such a letdown. I was so excited for this film from the first trailer I saw, especially for Christian Bale. You're incredibly well-spoken, I hope the algorithm continues to push your content! I'd only suggest adjusting the background music. It might just be me, but it is a bit too loud and distracting; It eclipses your voice at times. Also, as a hard of hearing person, thank you for the captions.

Thank you so much for the kind words and for sharing your thoughts! I really shared your excitement, but alas. Hopefully we get better from Bale's next project, The Pale Blue Eye. Really excited for that. Back when I made this video, I used to record my voice on my phone. I ended up buying a mic not so long ago, so I think that my voice in my newer videos is better focused relative to the music, though I'll make sure to focus more on that regard just in case. You're quite welcome for the captions; I love seeing them, so I thought it important to add them. Thank you again! This was a very sweet, very insightful comment, and I truly appreciate it!

This movie cant be bad because in one scene someone hilariously pushes Taylor Swift in front of a car and she gets absolutely mangled by it and i cant help but stand up and cheer

Bale’s anti fascist speech at the end of the movie was so preachy and obvious that it made me want to throw my bag of candy at the screen. At one point I actually, out loud, said “Oh shut up!” Also I think another problem with this movie was Russell’s directing; so many scenes were directed and staged in an utterly unimaginative way, groups of characters would spend whole sequences just standing or sitting in one spot talking, sometimes looking right into the camera which gave the effect that they were acting with Russell, not each other. I’ve heard that he talks constantly through takes to try and throw the actors off which can be effective some times but in this film it seems like the actors were just in a daze. I think he’s quickly becoming the Shyamalan of this era.

Relatable. Most of that stuff went through my head as the movie went on, so I really feel you. A shame, really. Thanks for commenting, btw!

If they said Amsterdam one more time, I was gonna throw my tablet across the room. I just saw it a couple of days ago and hated it. Everything seemed to occur too easy for the characters. No challenge ultimately to get "fascism is bad". Wow so deep...

This felt like a movie set in the uncanny valley. Nothing really flowed, it felt like everyone was a second or two out of step. I've had acid trips more coherent than this movie.

My mom and I went to see this in a theater having absolutely no clue about the film, and we had more fun making fun of the film together than actually watching it. Great video and analysis! Super underrated!

I was sure this would not be good, but when Taylor swift started repeating her lines oddly I knew it was going to be a long and terrible ride.

That definitely started ringing the alarm bells for me, yet I tried to hold onto hope that it was an intentional character choice. My hopes were misplaced.

If you’re at all familiar with Bale’s work, you’ll see he’s in some failed films for sure. Knight of Cups is a weird, jarring, incoherent movie. Velvet Goldmine feels like a fever dream. Public Enemies fell flat and I didn’t think it was bad but it is a bit meh and forgettable. Thor Love and Thunder was an absolute sh*t show. He’s my absolute favourite actor ever so I watch A LOT of his films. Yes, he’s an excellent actor, very very skilled at what he does but some of his movies have not always been great.

An preachy and sophistry based review for a preachy movie And yet the movie had a far better message to preach. For one, the dialogue is not perfect, but it is fine The script is not noteworthy but it has some very interesting moments and lines, delivered from characters who come off as inserts, but for good reason. The overall point of this film is to be more simple and to point out the symmetry of history that we humans so readily ignore and forget. For example several times in the film they talk about history repeats beecause the good times makes us forget the hard times and the hard times render us at our worst... Much of the diaolgoue on hisotry and the bit at the end about how insane this real real situatioon is Is I think the thesis of the films message It allegories the same dance and tango between fascism and the hard man over kindess, equality and benefit for all The film is an outright call out of fascism and those who wil enable and back it for monetary gain Alluding to current history which is seeing that same trend Using the past to connect to the future If you think it's preachy, it is, cause it wants you to pay attention to the same factors going on today Robert deniro was chosen cause he has stood against our modern mussolini, and he embraces the role of the real life general who sounded the alarm about their attempted coup This movie was not meant to be a art house avant-garde fest for high intellectuals or those who pretend to be so So they can crow and sniff their own farts for how sophistocated they are for knowing art This was sort of a based proprangda film agaisnt a cause that far too many Americans in this day and age pledge to, yet will call anything but what it truly is And the reason for that is because that stuff actually works and hits a chord It's not the most artist based film, but it had a message and an important message A message that seems to be dismissed because it wasn't given a bunch of fluff and spectacle for the typical sophistry and elitism that panders to the claim of intellectuallism. Maybe not so "Relatable" here hmmm...
