For a little more realism when driving in game, you can also open the console (~ (tilde key)) & put in *g_hshifter_synchronized 0* which will have you actually double clutch the truck
@Corky3D2 жыл бұрын
Or float the gears.
@slayerjohn4472 жыл бұрын
I do believe there is a setting you toggle when in the control layout menu that allows this too. American version has it like this, simple, advanced, then one of the real transmissions like Eaton. Advanced and real allow double clutch and float and gets mad when you don't double clutch it.
@tristangornall8649 Жыл бұрын
Depends on the gearbox too as to whether you need to double clutch, i.e. Volvo and Scania are both synchro boxes so only single clutch application where Eaton Fuller boxes are non synchro boxes so require double clutching or floating
@johnhouston4931 Жыл бұрын
I never double clutched, learned by syncroshifting/floating the gears :)

You don't have to set it Range-Splitter. You can set it for any of the other options under Range-Splitter as well. The only different will be the physical layout and how the gears are displayed on the on-screen GPS display. Volvo has 1st gear in a different physical position than Scania. And the display will show things like 1L and then 1H when you split, instead of just 1 and 2. The only real reason you might want to use Range-Splitter is if you switch brands of trucks a lot and don't want to have to memorize the different physical locations of the gears.

@@TheWolf68k exactly this XD in a DAF truck with a 16+2 gearbox the position which is normally 1st gear, is actually reverse. and the position that is normally 3rd gear, is 1st gear and if you split its 5th gear. same layout as the Eaton Fuller boxes in ATS.

Can't thank you enough Amstudio for showing us the way :) your instructions were very easy to follow, I found one at Walmart for under $25 US, (6Pin Truck Electric Gear Shift Knob ) pretty much identical to the one in your video. I am using the TH8A shifter so once it arrived, it of course did not fit the shaft on my shifter so I took a chance and purchased from Amazon a set of three different size plastic adapters and those were't the right ones but I took the one that closest fit the shaft on the TH8A and with a Dremel tool along with a sanding disc, I ground off the threads so that the plastic adapter would fit up inside of the knob, after placing it over the TH8A shaft it sill had to much play in it so I then had to drill two holes in the knob and through the plastic adapter then used two small machine screws and just made them self tapping, they tightened the knob onto the shaft but it would still turn in hand so I drilled a third hole and with a third screw that did the trick. After completing my button box ( again thanks to your button box video) , I had it placed directly over my shifter in my TR 120 Sig Rig and so I was able to add extra long wires to the wire kit that came with the joystick encoder, enough that I was able to place the joystick encoder inside the same box (button box along with the Arduino Leonardo board and then drilled the hole large enough for the group of wires from the shifter to pass through along with a rubber grommet and the two USB cables to come back out of, one from the AL board and the other from the encoder board, I already had some extra plastic wire protection that slid over the long exposed wires along with adding the extra heat shrink making them look nice, tidy and chic. It'd would have been nice if I could have displayed pics of the outcome with it on the Sim Rig.

This is SO much cheaper than all the other options out there. I understand the cost of labour, but wiring up an Arduino board doesn't justify a $200+ USD price tag. Aside from the cost of buying the tools, including customs/taxes, this will be maybe $50 USD all-in when finished. I've put off getting back into ETS2/ATS because I wanted a real shift knob for my SHH Shifter, but now, I don't have to anymore. THANK YOU SO MUCH
@mardal842 жыл бұрын
I also built this for myself just for an shh shifter. I used an arduino instead of the joystick adapter, so I was able to make a realistic key start with ignition and start and a parking brake with a pull-out switch.But this way it's simpler and better for beginners in my opinion.

Nice, I already made one like this (without the jake brake but still a knockoff MAN shifter) a while ago. I also found it useful to fit a stiffer spring inside the Logitech shifter, to counteract the extra leverage and therefore sloppiness of finding the gears. I designed and 3d printed my own adapter to fit onto the shifter, including the 'notch' and ability to screw down, as well as an option to put a 'pin' through the hole in the knob so that there is no rotation. However, I just use it as friction fit and it's good enough for me

Hey man I was wondering if you could recommend such spring and if you don't mind saying where to put it. I also want to upgrade mine after knob change.

Cheaper shifter than sim panel and a little better built because it comes with adapters for every shifter type. I replaced my sim panel shifter for this one which took some getting used to. I dub the new one a "short range" shifter cause the switches are smaller/sleek as opposed to an imitation eaton fuller shift knob.

All I have to do now is build it. Thanks! I just have one question how do you mount it on the Logitech shifter? Does it fit right in? Or do I have to make or find an adapter?
@danielrcdrift2 жыл бұрын
you can buy 3d printed adapters for the logitech shifters and then you can just screw the shifter on or if you have a shifter with a little screw on the bottom you can tighten that to the shifter and it should hold or you can use some tape around the shifter rod and press fit the shift knob if done it myself in the past and it worked its just not really good if you want to switch between that shifter and a normal shift knob

No way that plastic peace is a real shifter. They don't make the gear spliter and the range shifter levers out of plastic. Also they are actual levers, not simple plastic buttons like this one. It seems like you can break them by just looking at them. Also they don't come with that cute little button for the jake brake. Seems more like a simulator gadget. Also the scheme on the top makes no sence. It seems to be a ZF Ecosplit 16 gear transmission, but they don't come with an eaton fuller-like shifter. Whoever told you this was made for real trucks, fooled you. Trust me the real ones you can't get for $23.99...
