AMT Stage 2 First Dyno Runs: How Much Power??

PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION
Hey guys!! A bit of a shorter video, and some talking about the tune. Finally got on the dyno to get some real numbers with the car, no more guessing. Keep in mind this is an older video when I was on the "Stage 2" tune. I have since been testing out some new files which are much more aggressive, "Stage 2++", but have not been able to get back on the dyno yet.
EDIT: I have to add this because there's one person saying that the AMT tune does not work and even put up a video claiming it does not work, and in this person's videos you can audibly hear the clutch slipping LOL; while legit every single other customer AMT has, including myself, has noticed a huge difference in how the car performs. These cars stock make 151 WHP. I went to the Dyno in November of 2019 with just intake and full exhaust, no tune and stock header, put down 165 whp and i have a post on my Instagram to show it. On this Dyno video the difference between this Dyno and the last Dyno is header and amt stage 2 tune. There is no way the car will gain 15 whp WITH JUST HEADER. You can tell that the tune is working to maximize the performance of all the mods to squeeze out 180 whp at that time.
I WILL be back on the Dyno soon. Not sure when, but soon.
There is also some factors going against us in these dyno pulls; lack of fresh air flow even with fans, 3rd gear pulls instead of 4th gear for a closer 1:1 gear ratio, and the wideband was inoperable so we could not get readings. On top of that, the charts were displaying weird; shop owner was alone that day and stated he was having a crazy day and that it normally doesn't have issues. It is what it is.
We will take what we have and make good use of it. I hope you guys enjoy the video.

A 30 whp gain on a modern, efficiency based 2.0L is very impressive. What’s even more is if you find some of the dyno charts from a google search, the gains stretch through the entire power band. That’s going to make the car pull harder everywhere, which means it’s going to be substantially quicker. Also, this is basically a base tune, as they learn the car the revisions will gain more power and better drivability. I’m pretty impressed with these little corollas, not gonna lie.

I wish more people thought like you! Everyone is focused more on “does it shoot flames” or “what’s the max power” and don’t realize how much better the car feels all throughout. It’s such a blast to drive now compared to stock.

Nice work! Those power gains are quite solid. Totally agree with your assessment of the car generally. The Corolla SE is more about overall balance than flat out hp. Awesome video, my concerning is that do you think reliability on engine will be the same after these mods? Thanks in advance.
@JulioTRD
@JulioTRD 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I understand your concern as well. As with any mods, you run the risk of loosing reliability, especially if you do not take care of the car. I use shell 93 octane only per the tuner's instruction, as well as perform oil changes every 5k instead of Toyotas recommended 10k intervals. I do not beat on the car 24/7, actually drive it pretty normal most of the time unless I wanna have some fun. I always keep an eye on oil level as well, though I have not had any issues with oil consumption. Small things like that will make sure that you minimize the risk of having problems 💪🏼
@luchighwalker4108
@luchighwalker4108 2 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons why corollas are as reliable as they are, is because the engine can take a lot more than what it puts out. You'll definitely lose some reliability. And it'll be very easy for toyota to claim an out of warranty repair if you take it in modded. But an extra 30hp really shouldn't be too concerning for these engines. Once you get into boosting, that's when reliability goes straight out of the window.

@@luchighwalker4108 not true, my friend has his 2021 xse model and its at 305 HP and doing great!! Toyota built their motors to handle far more then what they put out you should research all the corollas that are pushing 300 plus HP!!

I think the one guy you talking about is Am20a19 on youtube. He kept talking smack that amt doesn't work... cause he dyno it.
@JulioTRD
@JulioTRD 2 жыл бұрын
I dyno my car as well, twice, one of those times being in this video and the other time was documented on my instagram. First dyno i went to was just injen intake and exhaust and the car put down 165 whp. in this video all i added was 2jracing headers and a tune and made 180 whp. 15whp is a decent gain for a n/a motor and everyone knows that headers alone will not yield 15 whp. i need to go back to the dyno because now i have updated tune and 2jracing intake so i need to see how much power it is making now. All Am20a19 knows how to do is talk smack. Tork didnt work on his car for whatever reason, so after talking smack about AMT, he was in their dms begging them to tune his car, talked about how great the car felt after tuning it, beat on it consistently, and then went to the dyno with a slipping clutch. A friend and I offered him to come to our town and we would pay for his dyno runs at the same place I went, and then offered to go to a track to race. He came up with every excuse in the books about why he couldn't make it. He then proceeded to tell me to go down to him and race him on the streets because that is the only way to prove power in his eyes, and after i declined (because i was working 2 jobs at the time, moving, and catching up on YT content; also i am not an idiot and going to willingly put others at risk, as well as my life and job by street racing) he proceeded to insult me and my friends. I have not talked to him since, nor do I care to. He is a laughing stock in the community and i refuse to associate myself with someone like that.

That's a good question... I don't see why they wouldn't fit, but the only way to know is to try.

Do you like the injen throttle module? Ive been thinking about getting one
@JulioTRD

its good if you are planning not to do much to the car, but if you plan to go deep into modding and tuning, it'll become useless in my opinion.

I was looking into the v6 Camrys but I was like na it’s slow doesn’t have a lot of aftermarket parts so I’m getting Corolla hatch

Well, the corolla is also n/a... but they are fun to drive and they have a fair amount of aftermarket support.

Any way to know if a tune would have the same effect on the 1.8L LE?
@JulioTRD
@JulioTRD 6 ай бұрын
it will definitely have some effect on the 1.8 but you wont get the exact same numbers since its a different motor

If I’m driving ✨spiritedly✨ it’ll range anywhere from high teens to low 20s. More normal driving will get me mid to high 20s.

i dont think so, i know cusco makes one for the manual. i have various instances where both wheels spin when either launching or doing stand still burnouts. id have to do some deep searching in forums and stuff to see what i can find at some point.

I had been working with AMT for a while on that issue. Toyota uses like 3 or 4 variations of ecus in the corollas, some have had success with removing the govenor while others, like mine, have not. When we tried the same method that worked for someone else it would send my car to limp mode. Toyota has that extremely locked down.
