It's nice to see how early Amtrak trains were before the F40s arrived. A great piece of Amtrak history here.

Thanks Alex. Just glad that these old gems can help out. Lots of stuff that has been gone for ages. Everything looks the same anymore, and gets boring at times. Its always nice to go out on a shortline somewhere, and get the odd ball stuff. Thanks for watching...

Seeing the Chessie cars gives me the idea that Amtrak should do some cars in heritage schemes. Bring back some rainbow trains!

That was the north bound Adirondack that gets handed over to the D&H. The usually add their dome car, and the famous PA's for the trip north of Albany. They also add a dome car. The dome won't fit into Grand Central Terminal, so its added and removed at Albany also. There is a clip on my channel of the D&H PA's and the added dome at Colonie shops in NY. Its under "D&H PA4's on the Adirondack" Thanks for watching....

Yahhh! That was pretty neat. Renumbered to a 3 digit Amtrak number also. #257. I have another video up also, of an Amtrak E8 unit still in PC paint. #318 I believe. Its somewhere listed as "AMTRAK SDP40F's & E8's at Albany NY 1977" Thanks for watching...

I personally like Phase III best. It and Phase II look the most "American". Phase V feels cold and industrial.

Did they switch to the E8 at Harmon back then, since they couldn't run into GCT?

When did the Amtrak rainbow era end? Because I see a penn central e8 and I thought it said that the rainbow era ended around 1975
@1jackdk6 жыл бұрын
It didn't last to much longer than this. Some units never made it into Amtrak paint. Thanks for watching...

jackmp294.5™ did Amtrak have m5’s and rs5t’s back in the day because they inherited the locomotives. Which means they might’ve had former railroad’s horn of choice
