This song is one of the major reasons why I am still alive. I had a hard childhood due to bullying so much so I was depressed by the age of 10 and suicidal by the age of 11. This song came out around that time period and music played a vital role for me in the last 80s/early 90s. Well when I was 12 and in the 7th grade. I was by then going to a private school, since my parents believed that would help me and it did. Well the school had a talent show. I decided to give it a try and I sang this song. My grandpa was there too. I always believed I got my singing voice from my late Grandma after she passed away since she could sing, but I never could sing until after she passed away. I must have done a good job saving this song because the next day at school, literally all of the girls in my class came up to me saying how much they enjoyed my singing and invited me to 'hang out', which was a God sent. So this song, helped me make friends, and along with other factors like developing a personal relationship with God and Jesus, and having teachers who believed in me, well, these things help me see the value in myself and saved me. So this song will always have a special place in my heart, so thank you Amy Grant for creating this lovely song!

The joke is that even back then most "love songs" were either sad or sexual. Amy is Christian and she knows love is positive thing. Also "Love of Another Kind" from her is definitely worth listen. Amy "going secular" wasn't end of her faith. We have sad and happy music in 2021. We had also before The Beatles.

The first time I ever heard Amy Grant sing was back in 1990 & it was Christmas songs. My boss at that time told me how Amy sang Christian music - that definitely got my attention. Amy has always represented herself very well........she is so beautiful & happy AND she keeps her clothes on & doesn't swear!!! There needs to be more Amy Grant's in the music industry. God Bless Amy, Vince, & all of their children!!!

Not hardly. What we call love is the light of creation and fills your being with instant, profound joy. But we are imperfect containers for that kind of transcendent energy and it dissipates. But you can always recognize it by that joy. And it is felt around the heart which is probably why the heart is associated with love. It is a strange thing and different from romantic love which is better described as physical attraction.

Sometimes we make it harder than it is We'll take a perfect night And fill it up with words we don't mean Dark sides best unseen And we wonder why we're feeling this way Sometimes I wonder if we really feel the same Why we can be unkind Questioning the strongest of hearts That's when we must start Believing in the one thing that has gotten us this far That's what love is for To help us through it That's what love is for Nothing else can do it Melt our defenses Bring us back to our senses Give us strength to try once more Baby, that's what love is for Sometimes I see you And you don't know why I'm there And I'm washed away by emotions I hold deep down inside Getting stronger with time It's living through the fire And holding on we find That's what love is for To help us through it That's what love is for Nothing else can do it Melt our defenses Bring us back to our senses Give us strength to try once more Baby, that's what love is for Believing in the one thing That has gotten us this far That's what love is for To help us through it That's what love is for Nothing else can do it Round off the edges Talk us down from the ledges Give us strength to try once more Baby, that's what love is for That's what love is for That's what love is for Melt our defenses Bring us back to our senses Give us strength to try once more Baby, that's what love is for That's what love is for That's what love is for That's what love is for
