I remember that episode. What baffled me as a kid, was that they were totally cool with it. Closing their home, freeing their pets and wishing them good luck for the future and then go out in the field waiting for their fate all in gratitude. This was a great lesson for a kid. And the other hand, they are not really dead when you think of it. They just change forms for a new chapter

Me and my dad watched this every single day of my life from when I was like 3 until the day I went to kindergarten. My dad passed away in 2019, and not a day goes by where I don’t think of him and miss him dearly. I was showing this to my son because I was giggling and joking about how “traumatized” my generation was from watching things like this. We were laughing and having fun and he said he wanted to see it. He’s 10. So I put it on. But I couldn’t make it 20 seconds in. I started bawling. I told him I can’t watch it or listen to it because it makes me think of “poppy”(that’s what he called my dad). You see my dad was also my son’s best friend for the first 5-6 years of his life and he thinks about him every day too. I walked outside crying to give myself a moment, and at 1:00am, middle of the night(it’s summer time so I let my kid stay up late), a bird started making the craziest noises I ever heard. It immediately stopped my tears. I knew that was a sign from my dad letting me know he is still with me. Love you dad.

Its like a spiritual metaphor, we are born for a purpose, we live according to Gods will to fulfill the anointings he places on us, and when we reach the end of our earthly journey, we are rewarded with a far better rest than we have ever known, animated series and teen shows like wishbone, stories from the book of virtues, animated stories of the bible, usa high, saved by the bell, fresh prince, boy meets world, family matters, zoobilee zoo, doug, all these shows gave me morality, saved me from real life mistakes, and as a 38 year old man i am blessed because as corny as it sounds those shows molded me into the man i am today, these are programs we need back on television

Looking back, I suspect this cartoon did more to shape my sense of morality as a child than my Baptist background. It for sure instilled in me a firmer principle for empathy and empathetic understanding than my Sunday school ever did (in which I once had one of my teachers look me straight in the eye and calmly inform me that a Mormon friend of mine was gonna end up in Hell, gg Jesus).

CognizantCheddar Amen to that. David Gnome died for our edification

What's with the "gg" next to Jesus there? Is that gg as in "good going"? Because I'm pretty sure it wasn't Jesus who said that your friend (nor would he say that).

@@janesmith7676 Just sarcasm, lady. And Jesus was supposed to be the divine made manifest, so no, I don't think He gets a pass when His followers misbehave. If an entity described as omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent isn't held accountable for literally everything, then He isn't actually any of those things.

My gosh!!! I didn’t realize how sad David the Gnome ended when I was a kid. I was just looking up cartoon series I used to watch for this challenge...

If you listen carefully at 2:36 you can hear Swift's howl from the original Spanish soundtrack... RIP Tom Bosley, who brought David the Gnome to life :(

You know one way of looking at life is that we don't really go, we just change, we move on, change but never truly leave the ones we care about.

This is the only scene from this show I've ever seen. In response to watching this I must now drink a beer and watch Die Hard.
