Baking soda is a natural acid suppressant or neutralizer so gargling with it using as a toothpaste or if you can't stand the taste even maybe a Tums would help save your teeth
@deniz_dee5 жыл бұрын
Baking soda is a base and bases react with acids to make salts, which are neutral in the end. I wouldn't recommend making such a reaction happen in your mouth tbh, because it would fizzle. Oh and if you have burn the bottom of a pot and can't get the black stuff out by scrubbing, you can pour vinegar over the stain to cover it completely, put it on the stove at low heat and add baking soda to perform the exact same reaction. The fizzle loosens the burn mark and you can scrub it off easier. I'm not an expert but based on my knowledge in chemistry, I would rather not attempt something like this unless advised by a dentist. (btw dentists aren't too happy with using baking soda for *brushing* teeth because the granules can scratch your teeth so much more than toothpaste and the heavy duty products they use)
@nightmansmemo5 жыл бұрын
@@deniz_dee yes it can be really scratchy do make a good point with that but if you use something like coconut oil and essential oils it can be made far more tolerable and diluted to be far less granular

I have been fighting cancer for over 8 years so my ailment is not the same as yours but I can completely relate to the side-effects. Sometimes my side-effects are worse than my actual cancer. I have bladder cancer. I have to use a foley catheter now because my bladder doesn't work anymore due to all the scarring. So, I have to carry a "supply" bag wherever I go. How do you get into sporting events and such when you have to carry a large bag with sensitive supplies? Do you just have your doctor write you a note? I am so happy to hear someone talking about how GP affects our teeth. My teeth are so brittle that there has been multiple times when anaesthetists have chipped my teeth whilst I’m being intubated in resus when my lungs are misbehaving & I need some time on the ventilator to give my body a rest. In the next couple weeks I am going into surgery to have all my teeth (what’s left of them) removed. The surgery on my mouth & teeth removal has to be done under GA because; 1. The risk of complications is extremely high so need to have a ITU bed post surgery (hopefully just one or two nights) due to having really poor Lung Function, Epilepsy, EDS, Anaphylaxis yada yada yada🤪 (I’d be here all day writing out my diagnosis best sleep inducing medicine ever😴) 2. I’m going to have incisions made all the way from right to left side of my upper and lower gum (makes me feel sick thinking about it🤢) 3. Due to my respiratory failure I need oxygen & BiPaP 24/7 they want me to have a safe stable airway for the procedure as unfortunately my past proceeds me as I’ve had a respiratory arrest in the local dental surgery. Now no regular dentist will take me, it has to be a dentist based in a hospital🙈 I’m horrified that it’s came to this🥺, I don’t speak face to face🤐with anyone other than my close close family. I’ll be glad when they’ve out in a way as that means no more pain 🤗 Thank you for helping me feel a little less alone & I’m not the only one who deals with this embarrassing problem. I mean I knew it happened to other GPrs, but like you said not may people talk about it. It’s had a huge effect on my self confidence as I don’t smile much anymore (I’m not normally a miserable git lol) I don’t let anyone take pictures with me, like my nieces & nephews which hurts as they are growing up way to fast. Your teeth are perfect to look at though @amy mine however would scare away the trick or treaters this year hahah. ☠️ P.s I love that Lippy with your top it looks Lush!

I totally understand!!!. I don't have Gastroenteritis but I had anorexia and bulimia in my younger years, about ages 11 till early 30's. And I have been dealing with 3 cancers, (1 stage 3b and 2 stage 4 cancers). I am now 45, and because of the malnutrition and from the acid from vomiting with cancer, I have major dental disease, and every tooth of mine has major damage to it. I had to get an upper partial at the age of 35, and now have to have the rest of my upper teeth removed. This is after I had 3 of my lowers removed 1 1/2 yrs ago. Plus, last week, I found out that I have to have another 3 lowers taken out and 2 lower rt. canals. It is all very embarrassing, and painful. I did a video a few yrs ago about trying one of those "As seen on TV" dental products If you want to watch it, here is the name. . "My personal review of As Seen On TV - Perfect Smile Veneers" It turned out to be very funny! But it does tell the truth about my teeth. Good luck to all who have to deal with invisible diseases, and these horrible dental side effects from them.

I had the same thing happen to me last year although it was determined that it was a combination of just a direct result of EDS making my enamel weaker, and all the medication I have to take, as well as mild malnutrition from my own stomach issues, giving me dry-mouth. People don't realize just how damaging dry-mouth is to your teeth - it is more damaging than constant vomiting and often is a huge contributor to why people with vomiting disorders end up with teeth issues (when you're vomiting all the time you're dehydrated which means less saliva to protect your teeth). It can be scary and expensive so my only advice is to try and find a really good compassionate dentist who will work with you to tailor a plan to your specific circumstances, AND TO DRINK AS MUCH WATER AS YOUR TUM ALLOWS

A crown is generally just a covering over your tooth. They are generally gold or some sort of acrylic. My dad has two of them. US healthcare though and he grew up in the 1960's/ 1970's and did not have decent dental until his 30's. He said the worst part was getting used to the new feeling in his mouth after it was put on and that it was sore at first, but now he does not even know it is there. I have to agree with him as I had invisalign braces due to a nickel allergy and the worst part was getting used to the texture if the acrylic nibs on my teeth. I also have sealants on most of my teeth as they have deep indents, courtesy of my dad from genetics, and the worst part was that they were a little sore for a few days after and eating felt weird for a while and now I do not even realize they are there. Hope this helps, sorry for the long explanation there as been a lot of dental work between me, my dad, and younger sister.

I’ve had a root canal on my tooth for the same reason. The root canal itself has been super complicated, which has sucked. Still in the process two years on. Seeing a specialist makes the process less painful and more effective - I would always go to an Endodontist for teeth problems over a dentist now. I also have nightmares about losing my teeth often.

I also use a flouride mouth wash and special tooth vitamin paste to try and get my teeth in the best condition possible. There’s only so much we can do though.

Even if you rinse lots of times after you throw up? I'm sorry you deal with that. Omg I love the red outfit you're wearing! Looks so fly! 😅

Thank you for mentioning this. I hate how my dentist treats me. I have scars from my attempt at pain patches. My doctor won’t let me retry them.

GP has made me lose all my top teeth but 3. I was able to get a bridge and caps and get my smile back... but my GI doctor aren't wanting to be aggressive with my treatment even after losing my teeth... hopefully they can help save your teeth.

I don't have gastroparesis but I had a problem with my teeth since I was four. I got cavities in my gums first then it spread through my mouth rotting all my teeth at once. I remember being in the hospital when I was four after having all my front teeth pulled and side teeth capped in silver crowns. I suffered with this until I was 25 and broke my front tooth on a piece of honey baked ham at Christmas dinner. After that I had the last 13 teeth I had pulled and dentures were put in. I am now 49 and I am much happier not having to struggle with rotting teeth anymore. Get the crowns but Do Not get a root canal!!! I had root canals done on three teeth and they just died faster. Also, Congratulations on your moment in the limelight!!!!! You looked so beautiful!!!!!💗💗💗💗💗💗

So sorry that you are experiencing teeth problems. My hubby, went through some serious, but ultimately successful, cancer treatment (loads of different chemos until they found a combo that worked) a decade ago. He has permanent dry mouth which results in tons of cavities (he had 40 cavities right after he was done with his cancer treatment!!), and teeth breaking off. Last week the tooth immediately adjacent to his two large front teeth broke completely off. Looks like another he'll be getting another bridge--not enough tooth left for a crown. And yes, unfortunately, dental work is super expensive.

when my cyclic vomiting was really bad (I don’t have gastroparesis but I have similar digestive issues caused by EDS) it wrecked my teeth. they’re ok now because I was able to get my vomiting under control with MMJ but my molars are still a mess and I have stains on a lot of my teeth and most of them have fillings. it absolutely sucks ass and I hate it. I had no idea brushing made it worse, I was always told the opposite by medical professionals 😩

What’s MMJ ? Doctors are thinking might have cyclical vomiting syndrome
