I'm not sure I understood the question right but when there is clearly one move on each count you don't have to put the 'and' but when there are several moves between the counts you can add 'and'.. if that makes sense ^^'

Thank you for the helpful video! My question is, how do you know where the “1” starts? I get tripped up trying to find the “correct” start of the count. Is there a definite correct start or does it depend on each dancer?

I’m not a professional dancer but I start at the very beginning of the song/dance at count “1”. Then I count the entire thing and mark the parts by sectioning. That way, you’d know when the chorus starts or the dance break for example at all times relative to the whole song/dance :)

Start when the beat drops. The song in the beginning might have some music that is unrelated to the beat. If you hear drums or any other percussion sound, start counting then. Also try to listen to the song many times before trying to count. Prefer songs that you already know very well and if they're new, get familiar first and then start counting (not a professional, just from my personal experience) Hope this helps 🩷💜

I really enjoyed and needed this video, but I found that some of your + and e+a counts counted steps that didn't make sense to me to count. Do you find that dancers perceive those middle counts differently? And is that okay?
