Alex, you're on your way to discovery that Linkin Park isn't just Hybrid Theory and Meteora. No, Linkin Park is an experience, a band who didn't follow one riff, who dared to evolve with their music and bring it to the public despite an enormous hate they've been experiencing since 2010. Linkin Park were honestly so far ahead of the curve for their entire career, always releasing projects that would have been so popular if they'd released a few years later. They got so much flack and hate for being so unique and forward thinking, but their artistic merit really should have never been in question even if the music itself didn't always appeal to some fans.

The message behind this song and this album as a whole is hinted at in the name 'A Thousand Suns'. It comes from the quote “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendour of the mighty one," by J. Robert Oppenheimer who in turn, quoted it from the Bhagavad Gita (a Hindu religious book). Oppenheimer was part of the Manhattan Project and is known as the Father of the Atomic Bomb. He quoted this after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, mostly in awe and regret for what he had created. If I'm not wrong, the entire album is meant to reflect this - a sense of regret and despair that humanity is tearing ourselves apart, creating the tools of our own undoing.
@Rusli1659LPSoldier
@Rusli1659LPSoldier 4 жыл бұрын
how did you know the meaning behind this?
@ElectriTiger
@ElectriTiger 4 жыл бұрын
Also worth mentioning that A Thousand Suns has a track called Jornada del Muerto ( Journey of the dead) which is also the name of the road that lead to the testing site for the atomic bombs during the Manhattan Project. The Catalyst has the lines "lift me up, let me go" which are also referenced in Jornada del Muerto, which lyrics are simply "mochiagete tokihanashite", which is Japanese for "lift me up, let me go". So the song named after the road leading to the atomic testing site has Japanese lyrics referencing The Catalyst. This confused the hell out of me until I realized that atomic bombs were only used in war in one place....

I think you should listen to the album Post Traumatic of Mike Shinoda, is a masterpiece and helped me to pass through this whole situation, now I can listen and sing to Over Again without crying, but still hard and really sad. Anyway, I hope Chester is doing well , wherever he is, I will always be grateful for everything that Linkin Park has been doing to me and a lot of people out there

Super bursting ending, directly revives you from the ashes. One of the band's coolest songs. I miss Chester and the new material from the band, the state of anticipation for the release of a fresh new album. Sorry for bad English.

That’s the first song that made me love LP. The videoclip was released hours before my computer sciences class and I got sent to the principals office in junior high because I couldn’t stop watching it and that’s how I became obsessed with them. I mean I already knew the band but was not that into rock metal or rap yet but they made me love them and along with them all the different genres they experimented with throughout the years. I only have love for this band and it makes me happy whenever I see people enjoying their music.

Knock knock. Okay Behind this track:- The song's theme is war. It was featured in the trailer for the video game "Medal of Honour" made by Electronic Arts. Bassist David "Phoenix" Farrell told USA Today, "When we were talking with EA and being familiar with the 'Medal of Honor' title I think the song made a lot of sense. The song itself has got some dark undertones and it's got a lot of energy in it. It kind of just fits with the subject matter." The line "Living under loaded gun" refers to the nuclear arsenal. The title of the album is a reference to J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, who said, "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one." Mike Shinoda explained the concept of the song's music video to MTV News, "If you could imagine when nuclear fission was invented, or a moment in time when something can be used for positive or negative. Something can be beautiful or it can be destructive."

The thing I love about Linkin Park is they are not a cookie cutter band. They constantly defied all the laws of music. You can't stick them in a single category. People think they sold out after the first 2 albums but they didn't. They just evolved set the bar higher than anyone had ever done. Idgaf who you are there is at least one linkin park song that resonates with you. RIP Chester and thank you for everything. Without you there was and will never be another Linkin Park.

The song's off of a concept album, "A Thousand Suns", which was all about various apocalyptic fears and scenarios we face in the modern world, most especially nuclear war. It's not one of their most successful albums, but one of my absolute favourites. You have to listen to the whole album to get the throughline of the concept. Probably my favourite tracks are "When They Come for Me" and "Robot Boy", but the whole album is awesome.

Maybe you have noticed, that Amaranthe dropped their new album 3 days ago. Cause you haven't been reacting to them since their cover of Sabaton's "82nd all the way way" which you were enjoying (as far as I could see) I highly recommend them. They have great songs on the new album such as "Archangel" or "fearless" but their older stuff with songs like "The Nexus", "Helix", "GG6", "Drop dead Cynical" or "Hunger" is also definitely worth reacting to.
