This video is my saving grace! I've always enjoyed Helena's character but I've also struggled to get inside her mind with what she's really feeling, and this just made the monologue so much more powerful. I am feeling ready for my audition. :)

7:7 omg that reminded me so much of Caroline from TVD season 1. She had almost the same speech about how hard she tries to be picked,but she is never the one, Elena is. Whatsoever, this was so helpful thank you!

This was so helpful! I have to do this monologue for class and was struggling a bit trying to figure out what to do. This video defiantly made it easier and I'm totally going to come back to this channel anytime I get a shakes piece I don't understand lmao.

That's such lovely feedback, thank you so much! Let me know if there are any particular monologues you'd like me to look at. I'm getting through them slowly, but there are so many of them, it might take me a hundred years 😂

@@ShakespearewithSarah Oh for sure I will! aha yeah Shakespeare is so much fun to play with but it takes such a long time to pick though every line and really mine the text!

Thank you so much for this! I could really understand the feelings of Helena as she goes through this monologue. I recently joined a theatre class this year, and I have this monologue for an assignment. I am inexperienced in theatre, but after your explanation, I feel like I can really nail this down. I greatly appreciate you posting this video, explaining the monologue!

That’s awesome Violet! If you have time, I think this video might be helpful too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpasc3mcrLaIf9k It’s my overview of the mistakes actors tend to make when they are new to Shakespeare, and how to fix them. I think if you are new to theatre this video is really handy for improving fast 😊 Good luck for your assignment! ❤️

@@ShakespearewithSarah Hello! I wanted to give you an update on my assignment. I followed this video, the video you linked to me, and your video of acting out this monologue of Helena as an example. I got a 100 for it! My theatre teacher complimented me for understanding the feelings of Helena, and I wanted to thank you for helping me. Throughout this year of doing theatre so far, doing this Helena monologue was honestly my proudest moment. Thank you so much!

OK friends. I'm so glad you're here, but... please stop doing this monologue! It's overdone. Helena's other monologue to Hermia ("Good Hermia, do not be so bitter with me") is wonderful and not done too often kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4u8laSDn7yFndU or try this monologue with a similar vibe (and very simple!) from All's Well That Ends Well, where Helena admits her secret love for the boy she grew up with. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGm4pGR-qd-asK8 Click the links for my breakdowns!

@ShakespearewithSarah4 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry hun, that's not really my area! I generally focus on interpreting the text for actors. But if you have particular questions about the play I can probably answer them for you.
@samahelhimani16004 жыл бұрын
Can you please talk about the myth and realty in the play and also about theatricality in this play I have it in exam and thank you for answering 🙏 I appreciate it
@ShakespearewithSarah4 жыл бұрын
Hi again Samah, I'm so sorry but I'm not the right person to help you with this. It depends so much on the exact questions and what you have been learning in class already. I wouldn't want to focus on the wrong thing and steer you in the wrong direction. But if you have specific questions about things that happen in the play, I can explain them for you, if that helps. Good luck with your exam ❤️
