Call of Duty hasn't been the same since World at War because the series lost it's identity. The games used to be about the horrors of war, and how being the hero didn't always pay off. (ala the nuke scene from Call of Duty 4). But ever since Modern Warfare 2, the series has just been about you being some kind of Michael Bay action movie hero. But with some shock value thrown in. (ala the Airport scene in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2).

yea... so, here is the thing with the titanfall games. EA published the first two, but at the time they did not own (and thus did not have any real control over to an extent) respawn. however, they where recently brought out by EA outright, meaning EA now has the power as the owners of respawn to demand whatever they want. and if battlefront 2 proves anything, all they want is a shell of an experience that acts more as a perpetual money bin for them to collect from than an actual game.

Campaign lost all emotion when your character cinematically almost died, and Dark Quarry was the most fun mission by far, actually eliciting emotional outbursts from me as psychotic robots ran at me whilst avoiding sunlight. The more free-flow gameplay that encourages creativity, the hub area where you pick your missions and listen to logs, and the longer length. You even get to listen to the character's death letters during the credits, which was more effective for me than any other moment in the game (Not counting the death on mars with "Is that rain?") The gameplay, levels and set pieces were there, but the story itself (characters, plot, etc) was missing. I wonder how much of this was the limitations Activision put on them, and how much of it was the lack of a decent writer. Considering the sparks of good moments in the story, and the heavy amount of highly priced DLC modern COD games have, I assume it's the result of Activition's abuse of control and evil over their franchise and how they manage them.

Hey, Shammy, love you work, subbed liked and all that fanboy shit, but I have a correction to make. Your intro is pretty harsh on Infinity Ward and while it is warranted to a strong degree I think you're ignoring the massive, necessary disclaimer that a lot of the core members were forcibly fired from the company after releasing Modern Warfare, the majority of which went on to form Respawn and form Titanfall. The drop in quality is pretty visible just in how the post release MW2 multiplayer was handled, I was kind of surprised to see you not note this in the video considering how awesome everything else holds together.

Yeah it was in the original script, but I removed it because I always stumbled over that bit because of how awkwardly it fit into the rest of the review and I felt it was more important to talk about the game's quality itself than the history of the studio. I stand by what I said though, there are a lot of *crazy* talented people working at Infinity Ward, and I legitimately don't think they should bear all the blame for the quality of their games when Activision keeps assigning them the hardest ones to make people like. MW3 - IMO this sub-series peaked in game 1, but I felt a third was a stretch regardless and they had to make the game take itself seriously despite being fucking ridiculous plot-wise. Ghosts - Complete technical overhaul of the game, given that (I think) this game was developed in 2 years it's honestly an insane feat that it even functioned, regardless of how much of a game-mechanical step backward it was. IW - No one wants space Call of Duty, I don't think anyone has ever wanted space Call of Duty, but when that's what you've been assigned you just kind of have to cross your fingers and hope you can make it work. I don't think they're absolved of all of the issues, obviously, it's still on them to deliver a good experience, but again, I don't think it's fair to the devs to rest the blame solely on their shoulders when there are larger factors at play that the players don't get to see that shape the games outside of their control. Just my 2 cents.

Looking back on this game, the only thing I really miss from it is the Specialist mode. It gave a different kind of difficulty and reminded us that space exists, making helmets destroyable while also making a somewhat believable damage system. No helmet and you get shot in the head? You're dead. If your arm gets shot enough you can't aim as good, leaving your weapon flail a lot as you try to aim and so on. Wishing that it went beyond Infinite Warfare but it never did, made the only thing I enjoy about the game when I borrowed this from a friend out of curiousity.
