Lucy, I'm sorry to hear that the move and Uni didn't go well this time. Personally, it took me 6 years to finish my (first) undergrad, and now like 5-6 years later I'm going back to Uni to study something else and then trying to get a master's (or maybe a phd who knows). What I'm trying to say or share is that Uni is tough but I know that you can do it and whatever path you take to get there is valid as well. Your content has helped me a lot in the past weeks. You helped me accept myself and know that I'm the only person who needs to give permission to be who I want to be; who I always wondered I could be. My "egg" completely shattered recently which was... unexpected at this time... but... I feel really happy and good and feel that I can do this! Thank you. Anyway, best of luck sis, rooting for you! Maybe I could schedule a session some time in the future depending on what you're doing. 😊

i'm glad i'm learning from you and the "no need for a degree" factor because the first (and only) time i learnt about vocal fry it made me think i have to DO them in order to sound feminine this exersice seems easier than the previous one, which i have difficulty doing it thank you lucy 💛
@ladydrakka94537 ай бұрын
An interesting thought might also be, I always taken the "voice fry" as simply smokey, right, meant to be a limiter for the voice to hit. So when i was practicing i always taken the smokey tone as a limit to not fall bellow it, which was helpful cuz bellow that are the "deeper" tones.

Some of the women I know have a lot of vocal fry in their relaxed-low gender performance-voice. So I think of it as a common feature of women's voices when they're not trying to sound feminine.

I have a question that isn’t too related to the video but is more of a general practice question. How often or long would you recommend practicing to get a good hold of a more fem voice? I’m currently not at a stage where I would actually use it so probably won’t be practicing in every day conditions, but starting now for the future seems like it would be helpful. Thanks for the videos!
@fairyprincesslucy8 ай бұрын
absolute ideal would be doing the little exercises for a few minutes every hour but that's the extreme. Doing a couple of minutes every couple of hours can lead to amazing results

I seriously love your vids, they are pretty helpful and entertaining at the same time. HOWEVER, (you can't expect to be successful and not hear this word, ever) Is my biggest barrier my pitch. I have a resonant voice and don't use and vocal fry, however is my problem that even tho pitch doesn't define gender, mine does. I have a way too deep voice so my starting point is absolutely abyssal. Imagine corpse without the sickness trying to sound feminine. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK, so please let the cameraman cook.

I like how no commonwealth (old British empire being NZ Australia Canada SA and current dominions (yes I see you people on the British dominion islands)) people can do a decent American accent, like me a Canadian, I cannot do an American accent to save my life, and I literally live next to them. Also great help, I feel much more confident now!
@uncroppedsoop7 ай бұрын
funny enough to contrast, most people who hear my voice online seem to think I'm American, I'm pretty aggressively Canadian. the more urban an area is here the less it sounds like the stereotypical Canadian accent

This one was frustrating for me. Maybe I'm just silly and/or dumb but I felt that your explanation of vocal fry was too vague and I failed to recognize what was and wasn't vocal fry in my own voice. This lead to any efforts of mine being futile because I couldn't truly understand what I was doing or trying to do.
@ShringoMania6 ай бұрын
Maybe watching a singing lesson that explains vocal fry would be helpful to catch you up. Then you could return to this video with a new understanding c: there's a bald guy who did a great video about vocal fry a few years ago. Anyways, I'm sorry you're struggling with this one. I know how disheartening it can feel when it comes to this stuff. I believe in you and your ability to learn! You can do this!
