Absolutely brilliant video. I can relate to everything in this video so well. I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 50s, Dyslexia in my 30s and depression in my 40s, Im currently 57. It has caused failure of 2 marriages and a lot of anger issues, which has caused the issues with my children. I am now medicated and a lot more balanced, less angry and in a better place. Im not angry with the system not picking my autistic unique way, I am learning to find ways to except them and learn to listen before I fly off the handle.

Ey-up Eddy & Helen, I’ve come over from your other channel. I work at a school for students Autistic Spectrum Disorders. All students have been excluded from mainstream schools for various reasons. It caters for students with a high academic potential. Good for you for being open & honest about your autism. This will help you & Helen in the long run. Much respect to you. 👌🏻👍🏻

Hi Eddie & Helen ...now don't switch off Eddie! My wife (now almost 77) received her late diagnosis at age 42 and we've been a couple now for just short of 40 years in which time she has taught me all about her 'world' thus allowing me a visa/permit into there lol. All her children (now adults) are on the spectrum, grandkids too. It's such an uncommon cluster that Cambridge University are studying it. You are fast becoming a spokesperson for autism, well done. People like you and Chris Packham - big respect to. Also, please bear in mind that the term 'normal' might just be a bit of a myth y'know....

Hey Eddy...great video. I have a lot of empathy for you not knowing about your autism until your 50's. The positive side is you met an awesome lass when you knew about your autism and with open communication you both can understand your "quirks" (can't think of a better word). My nephew is autistic and knew very early on...and he's an awesome guy who just got married. As you say if you meet one person with autism...you've met one person. Glad you two are enjoying your time in Paris!

Love this Eddy and good on you Helen for understanding. My 22yo son is autistic, has adhd (so do i) and EUPD. The EUPD is hard, the Autism & adhd are mostly brilliant. SO much more interesting than neurotypical people generally. Quirky and like me, not different, just, not like everyone else 😊 followed you here from Tyneside life as a Geordie in exile in Oxfordshire.

Hi, Eddy and Helen, I really enjoyed your video. I have not been officially diagnosed with Asperger's or ASD but i have for a long time thought that i suffered with this. Your video confirms it . I also have a wonderful woman, my wife who puts up with so much from me, it's hard for her. I know i can seem uncaring and blunt sometimes but she is always there to support and help me. I couldn't cope without her.

Thanks for sharing Dean and hopefully you’ll get a diagnosis. For info, in the UK there is no such thing as an Asperger’s diagnosis. We’re all just ASD. Be careful of the online tests too, they’re just an indicator that you might be ASD. They’re also a bit like marking your own homework. The full ADOS tests have practical experiments that can’t be replicated through online tests

Thanks Eddy, I am very blunt and don’t enjoy conversations that contain nonsense and my partner of 20yrs always telling me that I don’t listen which I’ve always thought was just my lack of interest. I struggle to maintain friendships too so it is a question I ask myself but I think I am just being practical with information; being stubborn. Wow, what a thought at 64 just the other day that I too could be on the spectrum.

Hi Nige, after a lifetime of troubles and turmoil and deteriorating mental health I had a breakdown in 2018. Therapy led me to being referred for an ASD diagnosis in 2021. Knowing I have neurological challenges has made me understand myself and why I sometimes behave and react in certain ways. Being ASD also means I can avoid triggers and can lead me to let people know that I process information differently. It has been a huge relief knowing. If I’d have known whilst in the police my career would have been completely different and I would have received additional support to navigate quite a complex career path. There are also protections under the Disabilities at Works Act 👍🏻

@Eddy-Hope
@Eddy-Hope 5 ай бұрын
They aren’t reliable tests. You need to have the full ADOS diagnosis by NHS professionals. This includes face to face experiments and observations. The online tests will only provide an indication that there’s a possibility you may be Autistic 👍🏻
