Eddy, one of your videos showed up on my feed today, and I am finding them very helpful! Are you a Stoic, by chance? Or have you read Stoic philosophy? A lot of your advice reminds me of Stoic philosophy - and I love your delivery, you seem like such a straightforward guy,

I would be retiring or working less in 5 years, and I'm curious to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around $250K per year but nothing to show for it yet.

predicting short-term market movements is extremely difficult in reality. It also essentially requires the investor to be right twice: they must perfectly time both their entrance to and exit from the market.
@soniajames-tn4mp2 ай бұрын
That is exactly the reason I stopped taking advise from KZbinrs; in the long run, I only end up with a jumbled collection of stocks and bonds. Whereas all I needed to earn over $350k in less than two years was guidance from a true market expert.

I've been considering but haven't been proactive. Can you recommend your advisor? Could really use some assistance.!

I think you’re pretty good at this Eddy. All your points resonated with me and point 6 made me recall a bit of advice I received from my father in law. He told me that friends and associates are like drains or radiators. The radiators make you feel good about yourself and the drains suck the life out of you and leave you feeling less confident. The real kicker about the drains is that they are masquerading as your friend. Recognising the radiators from the drains is a valuable lesson to learn. That bit of advice has stuck with me and I’ve tried to ‘find my tribe in life’ as you so brilliantly phrased it. I reckon I’ve gone through a very similar journey to you Eddie and being of a similar age I think we’ve arrived at a similar point in our journey. Keep up the good fight ❤

A lot of what you’ve said in this video Eddy resonated with me. I’m turning 40 this year. I wanted to chuck myself off of the Tyne bridge during the second lockdown three years ago as I was caring for my grandmother and I thought my life had no direction, no light at the end of the tunnel. Now, when I get those dark toxic feelings, I visit Saltwell Park in Gateshead. I keep my phone in my pocket and enjoy the peace and serenity of real life. It clears the head and the soul. When you realise when certain things are out of your control in life, it frees you up mentally to care about the things that are in your control. I too believed I was a victim three/four years ago and my life was a mess. It took moving mountains in my own life to achieve the freedom and happiness I wanted all along. Life still is a matter of ups and downs but that’s how it has to be.

Totally agree with the first point 'You are not special'. I try to communicate this to my teenage daughter without sounding heartless or lacking compassion I am the same age as Eddy and have found during difficult times that acting 'as if' everybody else is feeling as bad as I am feeling helps me put things into perspective. It reminds me that if other people can overcome their mental heath issues and function in their daily lives then I can too; it motivates me to take action, even if that meant just dragging myself out of bed and getting to work on time. This strategy helped keep me in a job and paid the bills when I was at my lowest point

Great advice mate. Don't want to sound like a hippy but I over the last year I have been reading and trying to follow Taoism. It teaches effortless action. Bruce Lee was heavily influenced by following. His analogy of '"being like water". it honestly has helped greatly. When ever I hit a problem I try and not force changes I just go with the flow like a river running around a rock in a stream. Anyway what ever works for everyone.
@Eddy-Hope5 ай бұрын
Hi Martin, following the Stoic philosophy helped me. There’s some overlap with Taoism but without the spirituality and spiritual immortality beliefs. This stuff should be taught in schools

Broadly speaking I agree, although I’d say young people today are 2nd generation who are like this. Ultimately its s reflection of parenting and the cracks probably started to appear in my generation, the first generation after the 2nd world war and the formation of the welfare state.
