Nic - you and Ford are two of my go-to health authorities on THE KZbin. I saw his video on the A/B index a while ago. I did it at home and had good results. My markers are good as well, despite being overweight but not hypertensive. Your review of his video has inspired me to take the DIY test again - but with more resting in between measurements. I appreciate your science-based insights and practical recommendations. Thank you.

Medical student here, ABI is a great tool and is commonly used in primary care. But as Dr. Nic said you'd want a physician to interpret your values holistically as not only diabetes but many other things can modify your ABI. For example someone with mediasclerosis can have a normal ABI but it might actually be masked peripheral artery disease... and so on.

No one likes everything. What you meant to say is that *_you_* don't care for the music. And that's fine. Just because you don't care for it, doesn't mean that everyone shares your taste. So, instead of projecting your preferences as if they indicate that something outside of you needs to change, consider owning your preferences by saying, "I don't care for the music on Dr. Brewer's videos." That's honest. Saying that somethings needs to change because _you don't' care for it_ feels... like an unwarranted sense of entitlement. No offense intended, just aiming for clarity.

Maybe 'this cowgirl' should learn to separate the medical advice that he offers, from the people he support. One doesn't have anything to do with the other. If I was an expert neurosurgeon -- the only one in the country who could operate on your life-threatening brain tumor, but I happened to support someone you don't support... would you decline the surgery? Hopefully, you're smart enough not to do that. Your response is akin to 'shooting the messenger', which is an error in reasoning. I assume that doesn't work or doesn't work as reliably with a wrist blood pressure monitor?
@RichardHarlos21 минут бұрын
I've read about the difference between wrist and arm-cuff readings on several sites (Mayo, Cleveland, Healthline), and they all agree that wrist readings tend not to be as accurate as arm-cuff readings. The two things that makes wrist readings less reliable are 1. the blood vessels are closer to the skin, making an accurate reading more difficult, and 2. the ease of use leads some people to use them without reading the directions carefully, particularly when it comes to positioning. There are exceptions for when an arm-cuff can't be used (pain in the arm, lymph nodes removed from armpit, etc.), and in these cases, some recommend using the wrist meter when at the doctor's office, so that it's reading can be compared to the one the provider measures.

Side note about Internet trolls you may find interesting. Canadian researches looked into the phenomenon and according to Psychology Today: **Study: Internet Trolls and Dark Tetrad Personality Traits** They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior. They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the "Dark Tetrad" of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism. They found that Dark Tetrad scores were highest among people who said trolling was their favorite Internet activity. To get an idea of how much more prevalent these traits were among Internet trolls, one can refer to tables from the paper showing low Dark Tetrad scores for everyone in the study ... except the trolls. Their scores for all four traits soar on the chart. The relationship between trolling and the Dark Tetrad is so significant that the authors write in their paper: "... the associations between sadism and GAIT (Global Assessment of Internet Trolling) scores were so strong that it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists." Trolls truly enjoy making you feel bad. To quote the authors once more (because this is a truly quotable article): "Both trolls and sadists feel sadistic glee at the distress of others. Sadists just want to have fun ... and the Internet is their playground!"
