Morgott is easily my favorite boss in Elden Ring. Not for his fight or the presentation or even the music, but his constant presence throughout the game. The Fell Omen, the Night's Cavalry, the scene with Godfrey holding his body and all inbetween. He's one of the few noble souls, fighting for what he believed in, who retained their sense of self all the way to the end.

It's a shame they cut so much from the capital and the Veiled Monarch. I think a major theme of the game is that people who are rejected by a system often become its strongest defenders. Radagon with his red hair, Morgott the Omen, and even Godwyn the Golden, who I have always suspected was born with fish features from the crucible. All of the art of him has his mermaid tail hidden by his skirt.

I think there is actually a very straightforward reason the Crucible and primordial life was eventually persecuted so heavily: the Golden Order was built around removing Death from the Elden Ring, and worshiping a Queen Eternal. No past or future, only the timeless, eternal Golden Order. Anything that points out the beginnings of (or even eras preceding) the Golden Order would inevitably become taboo, because it flies in the face of the paradoxical achievement of the Order, that Death has been mastered and endings no longer exist.

@@briankeys5941 Wow, you must be completely unfamiliar with Fromsoft then, this is how most of their stories are told. The Dark Souls series, Demon Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, if you wanted the backstory for any of these games then you'd only get fragments of it at a time and you'd have to piece the story together yourself and fill in the gaps since not everything is explained. In reality, the story is basically being told from your character's perspective; they only learn about the world around them and what happened and all of that based on details they can glean from different items and what different people tell them. This is how the story of these games has always been and this is why people love it.

@@briankeys5941 Have you even played any of the other FromSoft games? In Elden Ring, like every other From Software production, the _overwhelming majority_ of story narrative is given to the player via environmental storytelling and item descriptions. You are complaining about the lack of story clarity when, if you really pay attention, it's all laid out for you throughout your time playing the game, and it's up to you to use your brain and actually put two-and-two together with the given information. If everything was explained in longwinded exposition, the game's story would be boring - as there is no sense of intrinsic motivation for the player to actually explore the world and learn what is going on for themselves. If all you care about is "Me STR build do big numbers ooga booga," then that's totally fine - you bought the game and can play the way you want, but you simply cannot look at this game, with it's _entirely unique_ fantasy universe with deep lore, and complain that it "doesnt make sense." I suggest paying attention in English class and actually completing your reading assignments so your grammar develops beyond a complete keyboard-driven trainwreck.

I will always remember the Dung Eater. Because in all my Soulsborne blind playthroughs, I have never once attempted to kill an NPC even though they may seem questionable. Because I can never be sure of true intentions and personality. The Loathsome Dung Eater made me break my rule. Even in my best assumptions about him, I could still see him doing unspeakable things to at least one person who didn't deserve it. So when I finally got to his corporeal body, I showed him the same lack of mercy he would have showed to Boggart, and killed him without letting him even fight back. This was probably the only time in all my Soulsborne experience where I felt purely good about killing. And when I found out later about what he was all about, I am so glad I made the right call.

Just a thought, morgott doesn’t call his twin a traitor. And mogh uses the same magic as morgott to defend the path to the three fingers. And brings ruin to the haligtree by taking Miquella from it. @Canaanitebabyeater Жыл бұрын
Doubt Morgott even knows what his brother is up to, nor do I think he ever even mentions him. Mogh protecting the entrance to the three fingers makes sense since it's a threat to the creation of his dynasty and that assumes its him since he disapates into a golden mist, which doesn't make sense considering his affiliation with the formless mother. While Mogh is never mentioned, Miquella is and it's in an almost admiring tone leading me to conclude he isn't opposed to Miquella, not as much as Rykard anyways. Mogh also has no real reason to go the Lyndell; having no desire to brandish the elden ring unlike the other demi-gods who've tried seizing it. Honestly I think Morgott either hates his brother to such a degree that he refuses to speak about him or he has no clue what his brother is doing.

You manage to hold your own to point that he’s not completely contemptuous of your existence, so he acknowledges that you have some ‘passing skill.’ What I’m curious about is if Morgott was aware of Godfrey’s past as Hoarah Loux. If not, I’m sure it would probably come as a major shock. It’s pretty great that the First Elden Lord’s two personas end up reflected in his twin children; on the one hand, you have the regal ruler that is unfairly shunned/exiled, and on the other you have the maniac that spends most of their time coated in literal gallons of blood.

I just came back to the video after the DLC and my god. Does this quest line and ending hold so much more gravity! Imagine being Marika, your people are put into jars and made into ‘saints’ by the Hornsent. You (Marika) meet the Mother of Fingers and you are given a way, a method to fight back and escape your people’s persecution. You take it and create your own order. An order that is tied to the Erdtree and now, those born of grace will return to the Erdtree and be reborn and you have made a cycle you think is rid of your oppressors. Only you still harbor that old hatred, so you demonize Hornsent and name them Omen. They are denied grace and rebirth by the Erdtree but, you have two children of your own that are Hornsent. You secret them away and continue to Order but over time you feel maybe, you were the one not in control. Your Order falls apart as your other self begins to slowly take over your self. So, as you lie crucified, in your desperate hour, you resurrect the Tarnished. A Tarnished follows your Grace but in their travels they meet the Dungeater, a monster of a person that defiles the corpses of those able to have Erdtree burial and he does this by making his victims genetically Horsent or Omen. The Tarnished, not knowing the full story, think this Dungeater might be on to something. So the Tarnished, your last chosen, fixes the Elden Ring by placing a rune of pestilence, a rune of Omen no, of Hornsent and your story, of oppression and genocide come full circle and your Order is now responsible for the death of the Erdtree, the sky a plague and it’s all your fault. WTF Fromsoft.

I don’t think the hornsent and the omen are the same thing. I just think it’s an aspect of the crucible that manifested again. Horns are a very special aspect of the crucible because of how it allows one to communicate with spirits and divinity but you can clearly see that the omen have much more visceral horn growth than the hornsent.

I feel like Godfrey, a true pinnacle of the crucible shown through his raw strength, would have been against the shunning of the crucible. I think it was mainly because of him that the omen were “spared” and sent to the sewers, along with his knights still being allowed to serve. After all, if Marika had any love for Godfrey and their children, she would have listened to his plight. She always had a plan, but I’d like to think she had at least some romantic feelings towards him somewhere in her cunning heart.

I think the Outer Gods fight for control of the Lands Between indirectly and The Outer God of The Crucible was the previous owner. If that's true it would make sense that his influence still persists and that The Greater Will seeks to erase every trace of it. Maybe the Erdtree it's an anchor and it's aspect changes depending on who's in control.

I feel like Morgott and Mogh weren't locked in the sewers always. I feel like Morgott was in fact out of the sewers way before the Shattering. The hammer he uses is the Giant Crusher. A hammer used in War of the Giant and later fell out of use which leads me to believe that he was out of the sewers way before the Shattering. Not to mention Morgott already having an order of knights by the time Godwyn was killed which we see in the trailer, the way he talks about his siblings as if he knew them personally (He is respectful with Radahn, hateful towards Rykard, mournful for Ranni, nostalgic for Miquella and Malenia and even uses Godrick's actual title), his way of speaking of them felt WAY too personal for him to just know of them by hearsay and I think he did know them and may have been loved by some of them, maybe by Miquella who loved the deformed ones and Godwyn who was ready to befriend Dragons. Not to mention that Morgott also created Sentry's Torches which means at the time Godwyn was killed he had to have authority over Leyndell's army. Not to mention that Mogh would have to know of Miquella's existence to even get to him and know where he was. Not to mention that Morgott and Mogh both are VERY articulate for people that spend apparently their entire lives in sewers which leads me to believe they must have been out for a while and be taught. After all Godfrey loved Morgott at least so he had to have a say about his children being in sewers. Also the Shade we fight before Morgott HAD TO BE made by Morgott himself and the fact that he places HIS crown on the throne I think further proves that Morgott did knew Godfrey personally. He wanted him to come back so HE can be Elden Lord. As for Godfrey, it may be so that Godfrey was banished because of Greater Will and not Marika herself. Both him and Marika seem to still carry some fondness for one another and maybe Godfrey was the one to make Marika conflicted in her faith in Golden Order and Godfrey's willingness to accept Crucible and it's knights made him a dangerous foe to Greater Will which had to be banished and that made Marika go on to make plans to shatter Elden Ring and be reunited with him as he mends it back together so both of them can be free. Also I feel like Dungeater's Curse could be his OWN version of Omen curse. A Omen curse born of his understanding of Crucible, not of Crucible itself and therefore his Omen curse is horribly depraved, corrupted by his terrible mind. After all, how could someone like him re-create blessing of Crucible? I think what he makes is his own way of looking at this curse which is why it's so twisted and evil. I say that also because I feel like the closer thing to Crucible itself is worshipped by the Bull people of Siofra river and their spirits. Budding horns mention that creatures with horns were once seen as holy, much like Omens and one of the biggest features of their spirits is their great horns like branches of trees. This may be the last remains of true Crucible while Dungeater is mad imposter. Which fits with his obsession with being an Omen despite not being one. Those are my thoughts.

I have a strange, tiny bit of headcannon about the Dung Eater, no real evidence to back it up though. I believe that he was once mostly normal, but had a child that was afflicted with the omen curse, and the excision of his child's horns lead to its death, as is often the fate of omen children. I believe that this is what broke the Dung Eater and led to his obsession with the Omens and hatred for the Golden Order.

@@Duskwalker68 The one I wanna see the most is the rune from Fia's questline, the Mending Rune of the Death Prince. Aside from Ranni's ending, Fia's ending seems like the next best ending. Goldmask's ending is pretty sound, working out the flaws and kinks of the Golden Order, though I'm not sure I can trust it even then. There's such a thing as too much good. Evil and good need to coexist. Balance takes precedence over pure order. The Frenzied Flame is intriguing, but madness....well, I don't need to explain why it wouldn't be a good idea to force a true chaos upon the world. Even chaos has to have reason. It needs to be balanced with order. Just as order must be balanced by chaos. The Frenzied Flame has no reason.
