An Enduring Partnership

The United States Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force have had a relationship since the 1940s during WWII. At one point, the largest United States AFB was RAAF Townsville in North Queensland, Australia, where the 5 AF Engineers worked closely with RAAF Engineers leading up to the Battle of the Coral Sea in 1942.
Since then, the USAF and RAAF have strengthened their partnership in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance airbase recovery capabilities, ensuring that air power can be provided across the theater. This effort demonstrates a strong dedication to increasing interoperability to remain mission ready anytime, anywhere.
