It surprises me that very few people don’t notice that the drums aren’t on the rear catwalk initially! I must admit I have seen this video over 100 times and didn’t realize that he had the drumsticks 🥁 with him all the time. I saw him live in the late 80s! Excellent! He is a legend! New subscriber! Loved your reactions!

@RobertHoward-d8g Ай бұрын
@@mom67lovesu I think you'll find that he didn't have the drumsticks on him all the time. We saw no clue of them when he was putting his shirt on during the intro, and sweaty palms and smooth drumsticks is a recipe for disaster. I can assure you that all drummers have spare sticks beside them as they're too easy to drop or slip. I don't think he'd have taken the chance of that happening during a gig of that size while walking around the stage. No, the sticks were waiting for him.

The guy with the white beard is Leland Sklar, who is a great and famous bass player. Interesting you bring up " Risky Business". I saw that movie and do not remember the song "In Th Air Tonight" being played on the train. For me it was "Love on a Real Train" by Tangerine Dream, that caught my ear in that scene. The sad thing about being a drum player all ones' life is the vibrations really wreak your joints. I have a memory of a scene from a video of Phil Collins where he was walking around with a drum stick taped to his hand. Neil Peart was also worried that he couldn't play like he wanted, and was thinking of calling it quits, before he was diagnosed with cancer. Alex also talked about having arthritis. "Losing It" by Rush is about this idea. Enjoyed your reaction.

I'm 57 and very fortunate to have grown up throughout the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s. At one point in the 80s, Phil Collins dominated radio airplay in America. He seemingly had hit song after hit song, and his music was used as the backdrop in the hit 80s TV show, Miami Vice. If your from my era, Phil Collins is a HUGE deal... plus, I was also a Genesis fanboy. Talent runs deep in his family. His son Nic played drums for Genesis on their 2022 Farwell tour. Nic also played drums for his dad's solo shows towards the end of his career. Lastly, Phil's daughter, Lilly Collins, is a big film star with some very impressive credits to her name. A very talented family to say the least. Thanks for your great reaction!

Hi Guys, there are numerous live versions of this song and all of them brilliant and emotional. I remember seeing and hearing this song when Phil appeared on the British pop programme "Top of the Pops". It was his 1st ever solo appearance and song release. I bought the single that week and shortly after the album "Face Value" There are a lot of heartbreaking tracks, throughout his solo albums, and you can feel his anger and frustration from the pain of a lost love, that he was going through at the time and brought about this album. His follow up album begins with one of the most powerful angry tracks > "I don't care anymore" that really hits you like a brick ! No punches pulled. There is another that I bought as a single but a 12" version which is 8 minutes long that just gets to you emotionally > "Take Me Home" which he does the full 8 minute version of live. Even in Genesis there are many emotional tracks that easily reduce anyone to tears. Phil's vocals definitely draw out those tears and if anyone did cover versions of such songs, it would not have the same impact. Phil is singing from personal experience, making it that much more real and boy do you feel it.....especially live ! Great to see this video, thankyou. His solo concerts are just wonderful. Byee Jim X

You should also, (but probably won't 😉) watch the start of this concert on KZbin; the start is an approximately 10 minute drum-fest with Phil, Chester and the percussionist who's name I forget playing together before the rest of the 'orchestra' come in.
