The beautiful sentiment Mr. Black expresses here should be textbook reading in every civics or Intro to Poli Sci class across this country. It also confirms what I've long suspected about him, that beneath his curmudgeonly exterior lies a noble man who deeply cares about the state of the world around us.

This sounds like something you would have ended your midnight set with at the West Bank cafe back in the day. You were insightful then as now. We came to see a pundit disguised as a comedian, smoking a cigarette which often over ashed onto the boards, because in those days we could smoke in bars. And look, both you and I survived it. But will we survive the idiocy now afoot?
@s.j.58502 ай бұрын
Trump (like George Wallace) will eventually fade away. He will be labeled as a Hitler wannabe who could not make it in the world of the rich, so he chose to lead the gullible into a racist fervor to pump up his weak self-image. More of his criminality will come out as time goes on. A WASHED-UP celebrity that only has racism to offer his followers.

My Privilege by Anon Remember, remember, the 5th of November For that is the day When we have our say Never forget and always remember When the people have the vote Tyranny has no hope From just before sunrise To just after sunset Make your choice without regret You saw through all their crafty lies No need to cry Raise your head high It was so much fun To watch them run Now it is time laugh and wave goodbye

Yet nearly 40% of eligible voters generally choose not to vote. The usual reason given is "Neither party offers me what I want and there's no difference between them, anyway." Okay, I sort of get that. Let me point out that if that 40% were to vote for a third party that did represent their views, assuming one more party would encompass all those who don't vote, that party would win some elections. Then those who claim they have no choice would have another choice. I believe this country, and our Republic, would be far better served if we have four or five political parties. Imagine the frustration of the billionaires when they have to figure out which one to pour their billions into. Congress would have to form coalitions and, gasp!, compromise to create effective solutions based on the full representation of the population's interests. But that's all wish-casting. For now, vote for Republicans and bravely stand for fascism, political violence, bigotry, misogyny, and the imprisonment of anyone who doesn't agree with the Dear Leader. Let me know how that works out for you. As for me, I'll vote, and if indeed the US votes for fascism, march in the streets and probably wind up getting arrested or shot. "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice." My God! I'm quoting Barry Goldwater for chrisake!

Voting is important. But what more important is those who have the ability to make a difference, do so. Black has a huge following, and he hasn't stepped up to support Harris. Sitting on the sidelines was a bad choice for Black. Some states will be decided by, literally, a handful of votes. Black could have easily swayed way more than a handful of votes...
@ronniewaidelich90032 ай бұрын
Who people vote for is confidential, not everyone shouts it from a mountain top, cuz it's none of our business. I'm all in with Kamala but, it was MY CHOICE to say so....& THAT'S what's great about this country. 🤟
