Thank you, I have just had my inguinal hernia 2 days ago. Pain now after 30 hours is awful. Moving is nearly impossible due to pain in the scrotum right hand side. Hoping with time things will get better shortly. No pain killers prescribed, just told to take paracetamol

Ive seen 2 doctors about my hernia and both have recommended surgery as they said the hernia is rather sizable although it does fully retract when laying flat and for whatever reason I hardly have any pain from it only if im on my feet for numerous hours which isn't often. I think for me the main concern is the fact I have a egg sized bulge next to my genitals and im in my 20s so its not really something I want. The main issue I'm having is how the surgery will affect my job (personal trainer at a gym) as some people have reported that even numerous months after surgery they are unable to lift any heavy weights without pain!

I had my umbilical and right side ingunial hernia repair done on 09/11 via UK private healthcare. Very thankful for this as UK NHS wait times are apparently over 1 year. I am 29 years old, been heavily active over last 4 months with PT and Squash. Overall, surgery went well despite being petrified as it was first surgery experience + general anesthetic. Level of care was very high. I did too much reading pre-operation - dont read too much into other people's experience as everyone rexovers differently. First 3 days or so was sore, mainly due to wounds being stapled shut (umbillical cut roughly 5cm, ingunial area - laproscopic). I requested Tramadol for pain relief which worked very well & helped with sleep. Codeine not for me as it constipates me too much. Took roughly 8-9 days before mastering stairs again and then an extra day and i was back driving. I signed myself off work (corporate desk job) for 2 weeks. Today is day 10 and had staples out. Wounds near closed, no wound weeping or issues whatsoever. Just no lifting for next 5 weeks so got to remain careful - only light cardio (walking) allowed. Happy to answer any questions for UK patients.
