Being a fellow Montrealer, I had the chance to visit his atelier when I bought two straps from him. The experience was fantastic. Being able to go though his extensive selection of materials was great. And he is a very nice guy. Well deserved shoutout

I have close to 30 of his straps and can say that they are all amazing. The variety of colors and materials make for amazing straps to make a watch stand out. I love giving my watches a new look and changing things up all the time!

Gah! I have been meaning to make a straps video! Straps are beyond underrated. It can make a watch feel completely different. When I’m craving a change, and my wallet says “you can’t buy a new watch” I know it’s time to get freaky with my straps 😜. I need to look into this Aaron!! Thanks so much for this video fed!

It's important to get items that are made with Ostrich leather. Not because ostrich leather is the best leather. Because Ostriches are a bunch of jerks.

Try Frank Clegg leatherworks. They don’t make watch straps, however. But their leather bags are second to none. I have a couple pairs of custom cordswained ostrich shoes. I definitely agree with your liking of ostrich! Each leather type has its Pros and Cons. Ostrich seems to have the great number of pros and the fewest number of cons.

I have heard only good things about Aaron, and I appreciated seeing your close ups of the cases. I will note one cool thing about ABP Concept (Atelier du Bracelet Parisienne): they now sell swatches of the leather choices for custom straps. The samples are not cheap, but they are indispensable if you have an unusual dial color and want just the right shade and texture of strap to compliment your watch.

Excellent point on straps. I never put that much importance on it until I got a fully handmade leather strap by an independent leather craftsman based on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey for my Grand Seiko Snowflake that brought the watch to a new level. Now I know Turkey is famous for leather work with Bosphorous Leather being world famous and famously expensive for watch related leather products. But mine waa not that expensive but it is extremely high quality. If you can find a good leather craftsman locally like your friend, it's well worth spending the money.

Will definitely check out Aaron's business. I'm commenting to 100% agree that straps can make the watch collection. On the wrist right now is my Seiko Arnie. A cool, but large (for me), watch with an amazing rubber strap. So ridiculuously comfortable it has taken over this summer. It has me ready to plunk down $$$ on rubber straps for other watches have been left behind by the comfort proposition offered by a strap that kicks butt. Straps are a relatively cheap way to totally change up a watch and a collection. Thank you for calling this out. Fed - you have been a wonderful guide into the world of watches. Thank you.

Matt, question for you. Do you swap out your straps by yourself? If so, what equipment do you have to do that? Just got into watches this year and love the idea of custom straps but not sure if I'm handy enough to change them out myself.
@mattwasilewicz96772 жыл бұрын
@@drewmadden457 I always change my own straps, its not very hard to do, just be careful. Buy yourself a proper strap tool, and not some cheap Chinese one, get a high quality tool that won't break on you. Bergeon is a good brand for tools. Some watches have drilled out lugs which makes it even easier to change the straps

Hey Federico, just discovered your channel, and just getting into watches. I’m actually commenting here because the video I just finished is the one you did early in the pandemic called “Don’t Buy These Watches! Huge Waste Of Money!” and the comments were turned off . Lol I’m very curious, a little over two years later, if anything has changed in the watch market to alter or amend your thoughts from that video, or perhaps they’ve even been more confirmed..? Has the market seen shifts that have over or undervalued certain high quality watches recently? Are certain watchmakers enjoying a heyday of irrational exuberance right now, while other beautiful watches are sleepers that no one is paying attention to? I’d love to hear your thoughts on these particular questions, as well as some specific brand/model suggestions for a newbie (before I go drop 2, or 3, or 5 grand). I will say this in advance- I’m very unlikely to buy a Rolex (but would love to know what’s on par or better with them as far as quality). I used this analogy recently to explain my thoughts about that. If I was going to go buy a super car, I’m sure many would suggest getting a Ferrari….. but that’s what everybody seems to do. If I was in the market for a vehicle on that level, I’d far prefer a Maclaren. Beautiful, high performance, and more elegant understatement. Everyone recognizes a Ferrari, but with a Maclaren they likely don’t- they just know they’re enjoying a look at a beautiful car. I feel that same way about Rolexes vs other highly desirable, lesser known watches. Thoughts on all these questions?

Well, well, well... interestingly enough, I was this morning in Paris shopping in Camille Fournet's flagship store in rue Cambon. Caro Federico, I very much like your videos and your most infamous rants. This time though, I would disagree with you. One can very much get a custom strap from Camille Fournet: colour, size, shape, material, type, method and colour of stitching, initials engraving, etc. You name it. I am not working for them by the way and I am not saying Aaron is not doing a good job. I am just saying Camille Fournet's core business is making customised straps. I got one for my JaegerLeCoultre Master Compressor Memovox a year ago and it cost me €325. It is a wee beauty like.
