Great video. It’s not cheap. You can cut your mileage in half too on your tow vehicle when you are pulling the boat and everyone wants to get in front of you while you are towing your boat on the road. Good times.
@ReelHazardous3 жыл бұрын
Very true! I think our truck gets about 9 or 10mpg pulling the boat.

Always enjoy your content. This is second video you mention paying fuel cost and I wasn’t going to comment the first time. While I always offer to pay for fuel, I never take money to run offshore. I’m going fishing and if I want company and ask a person to come why should they feel obligated to pay for the invite. Yes, it’s nice gesture but if you count on people paying for gas you can’t afford the boat. Not you personally but people in general.
@ReelHazardous3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Todd! Yeah I agree if you need other people to pay for your boat you shouldn't buy it. We were always taught tit was good etiquette to help out though. Not just for the boat but the gear, ice, bait etc. the capt. had to buy and maintain for the trip.

Very good jod so people know what they are getting into. U forgot a truck to pull it n one thing I had done was I separated both engines completely apart meaning electricity from one does not touch the other gas tank I have two gas tanks in the back instead of one big one everything is separate so in case one breaks I still got another one for sure great job guys good joke on that boat break out another grand. Lol very true

I’m looking at grabbing something for North Carolina. Probably mostly bay and near shore. Occasional off shore trips in nice weather. What general kind of boat would I be looking at to do this safely? And possibly a few examples. I have been boating since I was young but only on lakes and rivers.

Great Video. How much, on average, does it cost per offshore trip for just the gas, bait, and ice?
@pelicanbay20063 жыл бұрын
Fuel depends on motor…anywhere between 1.5-3 mpg for outboards. Fuel tanks range b/n 70-150 gallon tanks. $3-3.50/ gallon of fuel. Run 20 miles out, 20 miles back, maybe 2-5 to get to marina…You can do the math. Bait…catch as much as you can on your own. Buying live and/or frozen/fresh bait can be pricey. $100 minimum for an offshore snapper/grouper/AJ trip. Ice…minimal costs. $20-30 max.
@tomdavis30382 жыл бұрын
30’ Sea Ray with twin 5.7 straight inboards gets about 1 mpg at 3000 rpm (22 or so knot) cruise. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s just not worth it Cheers

I was thinking about buying fishing boat with a cabin but I don't think I can tow them around but then if I leave it in Marina but wouldn't the cabin build molds? Because I'll probably the boat once every 5 to 6 month. And if you park it in the Marina, do they clean the boat for you or only thing you do is just park there? Can you do oil changes in Marina? Thanks
@ReelHazardous2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the mold. I haven’t had a cabin on a boat before. The inside of my console doesn’t get mold though. The marinas I’ve been to usually have you clean the inside and when they pull it out for dry storage they clean the outside. I think most marina have a dry spot they can put it so you can maintenance it when it’s time.

I like century, hydra sports, and Grady white to name a few. They have been around for a while so you should be able to find a good used boat that doesn’t cost too much.
