As a special ed teacher, it terrifies me that one of my students may get into trouble one day and if no one is there to tell them what is going on and help them with things, what is going to happen? Will the police wait and give them time to process questions before they answer? Will they be able to explain themselves in a way that is clear and understandable? Will they understand what they did that got them into trouble enough to not do that again? I wish law enforcement as well as lawyers (and everyone else on the planet) could have at least some kind of training on how to work with people with disabilities. It is so important

When I was 19 I was selected for jury duty. One of the managers at my old job tried to get me to lie and say I was never served the order, meaning I never received it in the mail. Knowing how important jury selection was I did the right thing and went. It took 9 hours, I lost a days pay and I wasn't selected. But to this day I'm still grateful I went because I got to understand how the judicial system works just a little more. Go to jury duty people!
