I am in my 60s and never really knew what it was that I actually wanted to do in life. I have raised a family, have a steady job, a campervan which I long to live in full time. But deep down I am a drifter. A quote I love comes from Jane Lynch (Glee): Don’t deprive yourself of the exciting journey your life can be when you relinquish the need to have goals and a blueprint. The truth is that you are an artist through and through and your desire to create an atmosphere that is a conduit for you to experience life in an almost hyper state is something I totally relate to. Also needing time for oneself is an absolute necessity and is quintessential to being who we need to be. For you, it’s travelling around in Gloria being a glorious haute couture road warrior with GiGi and your parents sharing in the adventure as well. For me, it was moving to Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada so that I too can be at one with nature after spending the majority of my life on the road playing music. I totally get your vibe. For me, when I watch these videos, it just all makes sense and I’m glad you’re here so that I can not feel alone in the world with this mindset and need to be WHO I AM 100%. when I see this empty truck without Amèlise it saddens me, this van is an extension of you, without this van Amèlise is still there, life goes on, the van without Amèlise is a frozen page that would not have finished being written, moments of your youth that you were able to live, this fleeting passage in a life that will remain engraved on these videos, a stranger for many and a sister for a small community. I live in my van too. I was working nights at a casino for five years and then I got injured on my shoulder and my doctor took a year for my surgery to have any money to back me up. I’m finally I got the money just this year it’s been a real nightmare recovery of my shoulder I really ripped it up injuries from the casino and they denied all of them so I’m on the road recovery almost 8 months later my shoulder still not right, but it’s better than recovery from what I heard the last year rough out of my van I don’t have AC park next to the gym where I go. I work out four hours a day at night take my shower and eat food. I can I have esophagus reflux disease and they test me for something else spent along the road I got Social Security disability finally but still, it’s been hard for a long time, did you have a lot more have an older 1990 van I’ve kinda converted it with a bed and things that I need a mechanic so I’ve been pouring a lot of money into it to keep it going at the end of that road where everything‘s finally working out finally working spent a fortune on stuff that had to be redone got windshield because the windshield wasn’t cracked but it was coming apart because it was still the original after 32 years I have a 1990 Econoline Ford. It’s been my home for a while. I don’t mind it’s similar situations people are in I can’t afford rent, it’s not an easy life being alone living in a van all the surgeries I’ve had I’ve had to work out every day to keep myself going about $15,000 to keep it going mechanically. Then I find out my mechanic rip me off about 10 grand or so unnecessary repairstrying to get a smog. I finally got it to pass this year. I just tell my story maybe I should do what you’re doing this is Gerald Quaco signing off God bless everybody.

I have a injured shoulder. My second shot of cortizone was the oil based cortisone. It has worked. The injury has changed life now in the last several years. I might need total replacement of the joint. I take MSM as well.

Ame, I'm about to start lap2 of Australia. I'm not on KZbin. Being subscribed to both yours and your parents channels inspires me. So, thankyou for that. After living full-time in my old Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van 312D for well over a year now and fixing up my van (this...as you know is a never ending journey) to increase comfort. I travel alone and don't have a Gigi to talk to. I've found that the solo lifestyle is one that I thrive in. Honestly, I couldn't care less what people think of me. I'm divorced and older than your parents. Plus, I've never been happier in my life. I have a son about your age. So, I see how you enjoy life. In Australia things are very different as a nomad (we have a name for people like me "Grey Nomad") my main concerns on a daily basis are: 1. Food, 2. Water, 3. Diesel, 4. Am I happy being where I am? 5. Not much else... BTW my son is supportive of my life choices.

I actually want to live in a van, and do exactly what you do: be free... Loneliness can be a challenge, but it's not because I'm with people that I feel more accompanied.... and I sincerely feel that when I'm alone I can connect better with the world, with situations... and really understand the genuine content of all of this that is life... Talking to people is important, without a doubt... but... if no one feels the same things as me, don't I end up being alone after all? This may seem like nonsense to people, but the only thing I want for myself is to live like you... Gigi may have stolen the beach portion of the video. I think you and anybody that lives in a van and travels around is very brave. I'm sure it can scary and lonely at times but you keep doing it anyway. Thanks for sharing!!!
