When my grandfather died, there were several people in the neighbourhood who remarked that they had never seen him without a suit, a tie, a walking cane and a homburg (and of course his beloved dog!): "And he always lifted the hat when he saw someone in the street". They obviously saw his way of dress as a sign of respect for them. I think, I would like to be remembered like that.

Ah, my two dear British friends! I agree with all this. I look forward to next year when The Chap, the Dapper, and Bug Pretty will form a trio conversation on video. I lift my glass to you my sartorial brothers. Cheers!

Wonderful interview. Like you two gents, many of my school masters from sixty years ago were ex military (WW2) and were always impeccably dressed. They didn’t stand for nonsense either and were treated with utmost respect. Both of you have used your life skills to create platforms that put something back into your respective subscriber communities. The appreciation was clearly evident from the gathering we enjoyed in London on 27th Sept (2023). It was also a meeting of minds. Both of you inspire and influence and yet each of you produces an entirely different style of content unique to your individual channel. It is not lost on any of us that the KZbin success you both enjoy has been built entirely from scratch and an awful lot of hard work to bring each video to screen. Your back catalogues are a priceless resource for dipping into, so don’t be afraid to re-visit the topics they cover as the need arises. Well done, and thank you for giving us, your subscribers and followers, your time.

John, thank you for the lovely comments and I must say, it was a pleasure to meet you and enjoy your wonderful company last week. Both Chris and myself were blown away by the extremely enjoyable evening and the conversations we enjoyed with everyone who attended. It was the first such evening of many more hopefully. Thank you again for your support - it is very much appreciated. Ash

Thank you Ash for introducing me to the British Dapper channel. I look forward to catching up on past videos. The observation you made on some younger men never knowing a father who wore siuts is an interesting one. My father wore workwear all his life but I was lucky that he was of a generation that insisted on siuting up at the weekends. My hope is that younger men who have not had such influence to take their cue from people like yourselves.

It's funny Chris mentioned that Daniel Craig should get an English drape cut suit, because he's a client of Anderson & Sheppard. On our generation dressing up, we're slowly beginning to realize that dressing casually is just as much of a uniform as dressing in a suit, except that it's much more banal and the same comfort can be achieved in a suit. So in a sense, we're dressing up not because we have to, but because we want to!

What a great interview with two veterans showing the standard we should all be striving for. As a former Air Cadet, RAF Regiment Gunner, Army solider and now Air Cadet Officer myself, it's great to see these two gentlemen crediting those organisations!

It was great to meet both you and Chris at the London meet-up. A lot of younger men have been influenced and inspired, in recent years, by "Peaky Blinders". I've a lot of tweed flat caps worn by gents in their 20s and 30s. What James Bond, and a whole cast of fictional American gangsters, did for previous generations, Tommy Shelby's Brummie crew is doing for a lot of young guys on both sides of the Atlantic. Maybe worth a closer discussion.

The Chap reminded me of my scout meetings back in the 60s - inspection! Always polished my shoes before going to scouts - and woe betide you if your neckerchief was not folded and toggled correctly! ;)

I wore a sharkskin suit to my eith grade graduation. I went thru the hippie years; denim trousers, yellow or blue t-shirts, denim jackets, Harrington jackets. Retired now. I find trad/preppy works well for me. I can wear Sperry cvo shoes or leather Church's. I can wear chinos or wool trousers. Linen vlazers or wool blazers. Linen or oxford cloth shirts. Tweed blazers too. Color in shetland sweaters. Lambswool too. Suits are not necessary for what I do. Younger generations can benifit by these ideas as they improve their style journey.

Excellent interview, Ash. I particularly like how both you and Chris Andrews embrace the concept of buying pre-owned as a strategy for men without an unlimited clothing budget to find shirts, suits, and shoes of very high quality without breaking the bank. I was also struck by the insight of your comments about slim-fitting suits and young men, and agree that the Tom Ford influence of suits that are quite uncomfortable to wear for all but the slimmest and most athletic of men may have turned an entire generation off from the idea of developing a personal sartorial style. The truth is that a properly fitted suit can be as comfortable to wear as a pair of jeans worn with a hoodie or sweatshirt.

Ash & Chris. Great interview by two great influencers. The chap and the British dapper are my two favorite channels on KZbin. I am very much encouraged by the trend of the younger people starting to find style. And I was very glad to see that our Senate here in the US created a proper dress code. Thank you both for all that you do. Until we meet I remain your most humble and servant. Ron

Another tip is posture. Head up, shoulders back and walk like you know where you’re going. If you’re not used to this it will take a couple of weeks of conscious practice but then it’ll stick.
