An Interview with Freddie Prinze Jr | Star Wars Rebels

In this interview featurette, Star Wars Rebels' Freddie Prinze Jr. discusses playing Kanan, the experience of voice acting, and why the animated series will appeal to Star Wars fans of all ages.
"Kanan is," Prinze says, "pretty much the coolest guy in the universe." The actor notes that it's thrilling for him to play the role. "I have so much fun doing it and getting to kill those lines that I loved as a kid watching Star Wars."
Star Wars Rebels' place in the timeline is exciting for Prinze, too. "It's definitely a show for everyone who loves that world," he says. "Just that time period they put us in is so rewarding for fans of this franchise. It puts you right where you want to be."

Marion Dorsey So true, but it still pains me to see all the haters that Star wars rebels has racked even on its first season, for me this season was thrill & chill inducing, scary at some points, heart stopping, all around family relationship which I really like, plus the animation is better that it was with the clone wars.

I think people misinterpret that rant. Freddie was expressing the ideas that came straight from George Lucas. Star Wars at it’s most basic, fundamental form is mythology, which means it functions as a series of lessons for children to absorb and apply to their lives, even into adulthood. Star Wars IS meant to inspire children, and because EVERYBODY was a child at some point, EVERYBODY can still relate to it. It is for kids, but that doesn’t mean adults can’t enjoy it or still learn from it.

He is cast in one tv show and gets a big head claiming to know more about Star Wars than fans because He worked with Dave Filoni. I expected to find Rebels to be a dumb kids show with a whiny teen jedi lead and ripoff jedi master but I WAS SO WRONG it quickly became my favorite animated Star Wars show, and Kanan shot straight to my top 5 Star Wars characters overall. I was completely blindsided. Gotta say sorry to my younger brother who I apparently teased for watching Rebels when it was first coming out 😅

I feel like a lot of the interviews that actors give about their shows are nothing more than them trying to sell their product. "Oh this is the best thing I've EVER worked on...blah blah blah." However, Freddie seems genuinely excited. And I can't blame the guy. I was worried that the show would be a kids show for the little ones. But after seeing the first couple episodes, I find myself engaged more than I ever was in the Prequels. It feels almost like an "animated Star Wars meets Firefly" kind of show. Keep up the good work. I love seeing the people involved with creating it having as much fun as the viewers are.

The stormtroopers were the clones from the republic, why don't they fight like it? I realise it's a show aimed towards the younger demographic but, in the clone wars, soldiers were soldiers and they acted like it (though these imperials might be 'green' since the veterans might be dealing with rebellions or planetary uprisings elsewhere). Are we going to see challenging stormtroopers in the future?

well after the clone wars they stopped making clones and also they opened up recruitment for anyone to join so anyone can be a storm trooper. Imagin 15 years of that and clones eventually dissolved in the mix Only the 501st really maintained purity. Do hope they add troops that put up a fight.

stormtroopers in general aren't clones , not in the original trilogy (501'st excluded) , not in the old expanded universe , or in the new disney cannon , Its one of the few aspects of star wars that im happy has never changed . The outer rim is most likely populated with "green" recruits , which probably explains why they suck in general . "Vaders fist" for example is an elite stormtrooper unit , lot of clones in that one , They are all crack shots (see the opening battle of A new hope)

Actually, it has been answered in a previous video (Rebels Recon #2). Basically, the clone facility has been shut for a long time, and clones growing twice as fast as regular humans, they got old pretty quick (the first batch being almost 60 by the time of Rebels). At this time period, the Empire is hiring people who believe in the Empire and are willingly enrolling themselves in the Empire army. That said, I agree on the fact that the stormtroopers we've seen so far are acting much too goofy, and the same could be said of the battle droids in The Clone Wars. Let's hope they will tone down that a bit in the future.

According to the new canon, as the time goes by and the Clone Army becomes the Stormtrooper Corps, the accelerated aging of the clones starts to deteriorate their skills, so the empire resorts to recruiting volunteers, this explains why they suck so much again. Remember, the old expanded universe is no longer canon.
