Ethel has given me so much strength behind closed doors as a trans woman from a backwards upbringing and background. Because of a lot of my online presence, I do not have the current power or support to be able to step into the skin I wish I could live in eternally. But when the thoughts get heaviest, music and art helps the pain subside somewhat. Ethel's been a massive part of that this year for me. When I first heard her music, it was genuinely full-body, and I felt like I was understood and heard, and not so damn isolated in this world. We are all limited, but nothing is ever forever and no hurt is always permanent. Thank you for all you've done through your music, Ethel. You have healed so much of an inner child in me that needed to her your words a long time ago, and bound those words with memories I've cherished this year. It's been a dark one, but I know there's a brightness on the other side. I can't wait to see where your projects--and more importantly, this gorgeous community you have build, who I've met countless friends through--lead you next on this wild journey. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

That's one of the most genuine and sweet things I've gotten to read in a while. Congratulations on your journey and being brave enough to begin down that path. I saw you had a channel and subbed. While I don't listen to much metal anymore except for some post-metal bands, I always love hearing something new along with thoughtful breakdowns and critiques of music and the cultures that surround it. I was an electronic/noise musician for a long time before I took a Roland Juno-106 to the knee. Can't wait to dig into your content, although I was a wee bit sad I didn't see a single review for a HEALTH album. The entire Ethel Caine project got me right through the guts the first time I heard it as well. While I am hetero CIS scum, I am also southern and a survivor of abuse/trauma from an early age, so I immediately got where I felt much of her music as Ethel originated. Those uniquely southern flavors of abuse, alienation, redneck hypermasculinity, isolation, religious guilt, and that oppressive trend south of the Mason-Dixon to make secret anything and everything that isn't white, Christian, hetero, and blandly status quo.

My mom is going through a psychosis or is developing schizophrenia and I’ve never been this scared or have had this much anxiety, she thinks people are out to get her (physically harm her). After each time she completely loses her mind she’ll go into a catatonic state and I take care of her, and I take care of my little brother who is autistic, we stay with my elderly grandmother (the only person that’s ever been there for me).. I say all of this to thank you Ethel, without music I don’t know what I would do. If you ever have a show in Alabama I’ll be there 🙏🏼💕ily stay safe and stay cool

My heart goes out to you and I can empathize with you. My grandmother was really my mom and I took care of her the last 11 years of her life. She was the only one in my family who truly loved me unconditionally. Losing her was soul crushing. Then this past February I lost my fiancée of 7 years. He died in his sleep for unknown reasons. We were planning on getting married this June. Finally I was going to get married!! We were also saving money to move to a new town in our county so this entire year’s planning and my entire future was stolen from me in the blink of an eye. I say all this so you know that I truly do empathize with you girl. This post is 5 months old. I hope you are still thriving not just surviving because I am merely surviving right now. I will keep you in my prayers. 💜💜💯🌙☀️🎹🎼👑🫶

Hi Ethel, I’ll write a little something here and I hope it can make you smile in case you read it ❤. I’ve become a fan of yours this year, I was just looking trough the Spotify’s recommended albums and preacher’s daughter popped up out of nowhere, at first I listened to ptolemaea and American teenager, needless to say I fell in love with them. After listening to your whole discography I fell in love with hard times which was the reason I finally wrote a song I had been trying to put into words for a year, for context: I’ve been writing songs for 1 and a half year and there was this song called “Open wound” that I started writing from the very beginning and I would rewrite times and times again because it never felt right. One day, after listening to hard times I finally got it out of my head, it was there in front of my eyes, and I finally have it saved in my notes app with all the other songs. I’m young, and you’re helping trough so many things you have no idea, there’s this one thing I haven’t talked about with anyone at all, barely even with myself, but I’m starting to feel more like a woman than a man and months ago I felt like I just had to suffocate that feeling and keep living my life the way I am, and even though I know many transgender celebrities and singers you just twisted something in me, I don’t know how or why but you just did, I’m finally starting to take in consideration this feeling and I am so happy I found you, you’re really helping me out in ways I never though a singer could. Thank you, thank you, thank you, you deserve the world. (This was really brief and dull but I just hope you know how many people you save everyday, it’s incredible, I really look up to you in ways I never have before)🫶

I don't know what this is... An instrumental to a new song? A demo? And idea Hayden just conjured and was like...listen to THIS? I don't know. But this is way too gorgeous and perfect and emotive for how hilariously simple it is. She has SUCH a skill in writing the most simple...songs. In a way that conveys more emotive power than anything else around. It's not just emotional intelligence...it's that, but it's also a really intuitive genius for songwriting and arranging and crafting...a song. She's a stone cold genius. And this seemingly simple piece of audio...is proof of that. There's literally infinite potential on top of that bed of sound...most people can't do THAT.
