My Dad was born in 1908 and spent part of his childhood in Metaline Falls which was a company town carved out of the wilderness at that time. We had the good fortune to take him back in the early 90's and listen to him recount his many memories from that time. There is a lot of beautiful country tucked up along the N.E. Washington and Idaho panhandle. Thank you for another wonderful video.

The border signs are often a long ways from the border when you see the first sign. From that cave to the border shows about 1300 feet and you need to cross a jeep trail before the border. We used to cross in to canada at a very quiet crossing years ago that I am sure is no longer legally open. It used to be no issue to cross the border. Be safe.

We love this campground and visit it at least once a year. It was remodeled and reopened in 2018. The campground had been in existence before 2018. Last year, while camping in the spring, we invited some friends over so we could take them to see PeeWee Falls. On their drive down the hill into the campground about 100 feet from the entrance, they had to stop their car as a young grizzly bear emerged from the forest. This area is grizzly bear habitat, so please carry bear spray!
@oneadVANtureatatime7 ай бұрын
Wow! Did not know that was grizzly country! We walked several miles up the road…… without bear spray!
@LifeIsBetterByTheBrook7 ай бұрын
@@oneadVANtureatatime Yes. All of Montana, the North Idaho Panhandle, and North Eastern Washington are prime grizzly habitat. Always carry bear spray and know how to use it! Soon there might be grizzlies introduced back into the North Cascades as well.

@@oneadVANtureatatime I was in France in late July. The yellow jackets there were IMPOSSIBLE. I bought a 1-liter bottle of Lime-aid. The moment I opened it, the yellow jackets "attacked" it and within 20 seconds, there were five or six of them INSIDE the bottle. Within seconds after that, they were all over me. My French relatives said to me "Ignore them, there's nothing you can do." Lunch was impossible..I just threw the food in the trash and went hungry (ugh). I did not get stung, thank the good Lord. Where does Roodle ride when you drive you’re van?
@oneadVANtureatatime2 жыл бұрын
Roodle wears a harness when we drive....well pretty much all the time except for when he is sleeping. When we drive he is tethered to the bed via a very strong horse lead, it is just long enough for him to sit at the edge of the bed and not be able to get off the bed. This is really important to us for a few reasons. 1) he is secure if we have to hit the brakes. We learned this the hard way. 2) he is secure if we were to get into a accident 3) for our safety when we drive.....if he wasnt tethered he wants to be in our laps....he is a bit big for that and has actually knocked the van into reverse as we were pulling out of a gas station. 4) he actually feels safer back on the bed. I think its the equivalent of how a dog feels safer in a crate sometimes. We highly recommend dogs be harnessed in. One of our patrons got into a pretty serious accident and he attributes his dogs well being was because he was harnessed in.
@rangerider512 жыл бұрын
@@oneadVANtureatatime okay. I have a Toy Fox Terrier and she loves to ride on the bed. I also have heated seats on my 2020 high roof Ford Transit van and sometimes she’ll ride in the passenger seat in the cold weather. I’m not a high speed driver and I always keep my distance. I think that’s mostly from my 28 + years of driving a semi after retiring from the Army. Good to know how you keep you’re dog safe. Mine’s kind of funny. I have a full size mattress in my van and she thinks it’s her bed. She sometimes seems miffed that I’m on “her” bed. She’s been my partner for 10 years even in the semi. Happy travels.
