I like the way this speedrun is less extreme and break-neck than the speedruns of the modern versions. Makes it seem more pragmatic and less guns-blazing. Wow it is like a breath of fresh air seeing a MC WR due to better strats and a better run, unlike 1.16 rsg which seems to only get a WR now when someone abuses external programs like the timer or stronghold finders.

What are you talking about. That is in no way true. 1.16 is by far the most Optimised version both in times and strategies. If you actually grinded instead of insulting the accomplishments of others you'd know that calculators barely make a difference in the gameplay. If you want to keep your nonsensical beliefs at least keep them to yourself. That way we will be spared from seeing such stupidity again.

@@m8ty4u Reading appears to be difficult for you. Nowhere did I day 1.16 isn't well optimized or that it doesn't have complex strategies. We got the "first sub 10" which included a now banned strategy that wasn't actually an in-game strategy so much as a manipulation of the timer. By manipulating the timer and using the various hotkeys of MC they could examine their surroundings without losing time. Essentially defeating the purpose of what makes MC such an interesting speed game, the randomness in map design and reacting to it effectively. It was so garbage to watch that they banned it immediately after. But the record was allowed to stand despite breaking the new rules and nobody could beat it within the rules. Then only a matter of a few days after they decided to allow external programs to skip part of the skill of the run, the WR was finally beaten. To address the 1 relevant thing you said, if the calcator doesn't save much time how come the record fell so quickly once it was allowed? It may not save much time on the triangulation side, a matter of seconds but it can save a minute or more in terms of stronghold nav.

@mrgamechanger97 there had been numerous times the record was inches away from being beaten. The current record would have beaten the previous even without calculators. This is simply misunderstanding correlation with causation. You say you realise the versions optimization but completely ignore the skill they require instead arguing that abuse is the driving force for new wrs. To suggest that calculators are what make future wrs possible is just ignorant towards the communities efforts and growth PS: preemptive has nothing to do with calculators should have looked into that before using it in your argument

@@m8ty4u It is true that numerous runs before came close. But idk that I totally buy that the current WR would be there if not for the calculator. I mean it was WR by 28 seconds. Hard to tell for sure but the stronghold sure doesn't seem ocean exposed to me. If he wasn't using the calc I think it is fair to say he could have easily lost 28 more seconds. Skill has always been a bit of a variable in 1.16 rsg from what I've seen. Sometimes the runners crafting speed and multitasking is truly incredible, other times it seems competent but was often made up for by really good rng. I wouldn't say either of the last 2 records had the best luck or execution I've seen in a 1.16 WR. Both had good rng and at least decent execution but some of the WRs that came before it def felt stronger in both senses. When you say preemptive I assume you mean preemptive travel? I know that isn't strictly a calculator thing but without the calculator, calculated travel isn't nearly as likely to put you in the stronghold.

@@mrgamechanger97 The current wr is by far the luckiest and skill filled the category has seen. No run before it had such optimised gameplay(although this could be contributed to the skill level rising in general). The luck on the other hand was undeniably high. It is impossible to get even a chance to get wr without getting a seed that is 1 out of 100 000s. Not to mention the required RNG in the run itself. It wouldn't be unreasonable to say luck plays the biggest part in getting wr. A part which will only grow larger and larger the lower the wr goes. It still could have very realistically been wr through perfect travel which has been used for over 6 months at that point. Even ignoring this its not like it would have lasted indefinitely. Crookst has recently achieved a 2nd place time of 9:31 where the use of a calculator most likely hurt him(wasting both ingame and real time for something that could have been a simple direction check). The main difference between previous records and the runs of today is that nowadays we have strategies for every part of the run, unlike in the past where some parts had minimal skill and ended up with runners just being lucky they went to the right direction. Preemptive is a strategy that basically removes stronghold navigation through the use of the pie-chart. I assumed this is what you meant when you said calculators saved time on stronghold navigation because in reality they don't have any impact on that part of the run. It was with or without calculators a luck based part with minimal skills/strategies to be learned. Calculator introduction did not change any factors of that.
