I read my first Sanderson book pretty recently and loved it, not knowing about any of his past homophobia and was heartbroken, only just found out just the other day that he's come back around and changed his views and really it makes me so happy when someone can reexamine their previous bigotry, so much respect for him for that. I want to read Mistborn soon, I read Tress of the Emerald Sea, got the special leatherbound edition and have no regrets.

I read Nettle and Bone. It was quite good. Also, if you love Grumpy/Sunshine, you should consider reading All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata (I think I spelled that right). It's a book about a girl who is moving back to her childhood town and she needs something more permanent than a hotel but less permanent than a lease so she accepts an Air BNB situation but the owner didn't know his garage apartment was listed because his son did it. It was very good.

Mistborn Era 1 is still only 3, but there is an Era 2 with 4 books. I just finished Era 1 not that long ago. It was SO GOOD. Now I am biased in that I do love Brandon Sanderson, but the story telling was so good and so layered and by the time I read the third book, I kind of wanted to re-read the first book to be able to read it knowing what I know at the end of the trilogy. Give it a shot, you may not love it as much as some people have, but you might still get something from it.

I'm not gonna judge you for reading Brandon Sanderson, that's 100% your choice. Personally, I still can't bring myself to support him. TL;DR, I have no hate for the man himself, but I do loathe the system he subsribes to. I just can't bring myself to buy his books, knowing that he donates funds to the Mormon organization.

On Sandy Brandy, I totally think you should start with Warbreaker before you start with Mistborn. Warbreaker was written after Mistborn, and he grew as a writer quite a bit between them. Warbreaker is SO GOOD, and Mistborn is just…fine.

I read Flowerheart last month and honestly... I was very confused and dissapointed. I thought it was going to be a beautifully written story with a beautiful plot. You vould not be more wrong. The language of the book is very simple and plain as is the plot. Nothing happens in the book. I just recorded a wrap up in which I talk a lot about this book, I honestly think you won't like it and you will be pissed. I was a bit pissed haha

Looks like you have some fun things lined up! I am part of the 1% of people who actually enjoyed Survive the Night 👋 I used to watch a lot of Hitchcock and other film noir movies and it had that same tone mixed with campy, silly horror, so I was there for it. I just didn't take it too seriously and had a great with it. Goblin on the other hand...I hated. But, love the cover. Nettle & Bone is Cozy, Feminist Fantasy perfection 🥰 looking forward to your thoughts on all the above!!

I did not know Brandon Sanderson was a previous homophobe. So glad he has changed his viewpoint. I grew up in the South in the 70s and 80s and I can tell you I was a product of the South and times with my opinions of the LGBTQ community. I am so grateful for the movie Chasing Amy. The main character tells a potential love interest why she has same sex relationships. She says ‘Why should I limit my opportunity to finding true love by limiting those opportunities by 50%.’ That was paraphrasing. It just made sense because everyone should be able to love without fear. So I changed my opinions. I just find it ridiculous now when people are homophobes!

Honestly, i haven't read any of the books you mentioned lol. i am just getting back into reading after years of hiatus lol. But i love your videos (been a lurker on the channel for a handful of months now) and recommendations you bring cause they are so different from all the other book tubers or some are out of my comfort zone which i love cause i like pushing myself to read things i never thought to read. Also, you remind me of Brittany Broski when you start mocking the synopsis' of books lol. Like its a "normal" short summary of the book but its just something about it you know it sounds cringy but your still gonna read it because entertaining, right? Then Brittany does the same thing when talking about content creators even though she is one lol. She mocks the lingo used by content creators snd can't stand how cringe it sounds 😂. Anyway, nice line up of books you got this month.

Survive The Night was good. Typical Riley style, nothing too heavy, Quick read! Also the Brandon Sanderson issue. Authors personal choices/beliefs are just that their personal beliefs. It doesn't phase me unless it's written into the story. I just kind of follow the to each their own mentality & if they are promoting their bigotry or hatred within their stories....I probably won't continue reading but who am I to judge. Kindness to all regardless. He is a very talented writer and all we can do is separate his personal from the professional ❤
