I wrote a paper about dance moms in high school and I took count of the number of times each girl is on the pyramid. In the entire series Maddie is on top of the pyramid 68 times. Nia is on top 12 times. I can’t remember the others but I remember thinking that it was insane that Nia was on top of the pyramid that little and she was on the show the longest.

she meant it in a way that explained she knows how to make the kids into stars, idk but i think grooming in the sense we use it commonly is kind of a new term so she just tried to use an elegant word for making but it just didn’t come out as intended…

Also Abby kissing Maddie should’ve never aired. And her mother and everyone else laughed like it was cute and funny? In what world do grown adults get to kiss a children on television? it’s sick.

@@Noname-ds4lothe situation has me kinda torn. It should’ve never aired, sure, but Melissa and Abby had known each other for a long time. I’m sure they all knew Abby didn’t mean anything like *that* . Still gross, though.
@blckoutday6 күн бұрын
@@MrHound-yuhyuh If you grew up as a dancer, you would know how weird is it for a coach of any sort kiss you on the lips. It’s not just that Abby crossed the line, but on top of that she was forcing a child to kiss someone she didn’t want to. Maddie expressed being uncomfortable kissing a boy, what would make Abby think she would be fine with forcefully kissing her? It’s not normal for any one let alone a coach or a friend of her mothers to ever put their hands or mouth on a child. That is just common sense.

I was a dancer from the age of 3-18 and yet I didn’t watch Dance Moms until I graduated. All I can say from my experience and the anecdotal experiences I’ve heard from others is that the dance industry is extremely toxic for children and teens. The teachers tear you down emotionally, mentally, and physically little by little. It feels like being surrounded by mean girls but they’re all 30+ years old and have fully developed brains. I think it’s sad that my memories of dance have been ruined from the bad experiences I’ve had. I still love to dance but hated the environment

Also I haven't noticed anyone else mention this, but JoJo has continued in Abby's name being an 💫abusive💫 dance teacher with her mum. XOMGPop was exposed for some really horrible things, like JoJo (maybe Jessalyn, idr) yelling at these girls through ear pieces while dancing, telling a disabled dancer to "put a pad on her costume so blood doesn't get on it" when she started bleeding out of her belly button. They also pressured this girl to start dancing less than a MONTH after having SPINAL SURGERY even though she wasn't supposed to for multiple months because, you know, being a young person who's just had spinal surgery. As well as not letting the girls do their legally required education minimum, with one girl reporting that she did less than 8 hours of schoolwork in a month? (Don't quote me on this, it happened in Feb and my memory is hazy hahaha.) They also didn't pay the girls/their mums enough and left them sleeping in dance studios and scrubbing Jessalyn and Jojo's toilet to earn more money. Lots of people are thinking Jojo's rebrand was to avoid those allegations and have people talk about that instead of the Rolling Stone article alleging all of this, which I 100% agree with lol. So yeah, JoJo isn't actually the greatest and has definitely been groomed to accept it as normal from a young age

It really was a wild show, I grew up watching this with my mom and younger sister and it was so unhealthy. Abby was low key abusive and the moms were all just insane, it was such a toxic environment filled with drama and kind of traumatic experiences for the girls to have to go through. Seeing this notification was crazy, it brought me back to younger times :). Also, the yuuge orange man comparison is dead on.

It hurts my heart, that none of the mothers really protected their girls from Abby. None of the children learned that its NOT okay for a person to talk to them like that and they will be vulnerable for this kind of people their entire life.

I strongly believe Abby was on drugs in late S5-7 and thats how she could've lost all her money. Plus if you look at her physical appearance and how crazy she was acting it makes sense honestly. No makeup or hair done, manically laughing for no reason. No wonder the Zieglers wanted to leave at this point

I also grew up in the dance sphere and the level of grooming that happens in this world is rampant, traumatizing, and far too normalized. I'm currently in therapy and working through my own experiences which-while traumatizing themselves-still only mildly compare to what these girls experienced on national television. tragic is exactly the right word for it. I have to be in a very specific mood to be able to consume dance moms content because it can be so triggering. that being said, I had no idea about pretty much anything Chloe has been doing post-dance moms, I'm surprised I hadn't heard about anything you mentioned. I would be really interested in that follow up if you were willing to cover it!

Maddie has always been my favorite IDCCC even when everyone thought she was a brat i still loved her. And the funny thing is, she was never an actual brat. Producers manipulated a child’s image on television for drama, not caring if she got hate online, or from the other mothers on the show. I have so much respect for her for constantly having to play down her achievements and apologize for being talented, just to make her friends mothers feel better. My girl has a whole career now i’m so proud of her.
