Great review as always, Brad! A comment on the quote from Dave Hunt: when has Anaal Nathrakh ever had a positive or upbeat album? All their albums are abrasive, angry, and super heavy, and that's why I love them. Constellation is awesome, but my personal favorite is Hell Is Empty and All the Devils Are Here.

@@AggressiveTendenciesIn fairness they are about exposing the horrors of humanity and they are speaking about it in a negative light so it is actually positive in a weird way. Their music is about speaking out, it's not about selling these ideas as a good thing and they really do capture the feeling and horror that they sing about. They are anti-war and anti-fascist actually, kinda the opposite of many black metal bands.

I've been a fan of these guys a decade plus. The way they reinvent themselves and how the album's sound so different to each other, all the while being amazing and yet, somehow still sounding like the band is amazing. I really wish to see these guys live one day.

I completely agree with you, it's fascinating how they are able to craft their sound in a way that constantly creates a feeling of unease. Once again shows that there is much more to making extreme metal than just going heavier and heavier.

The music of John Williams is the best thing in the Star Wars prequels. Duel of the Fates deserved a much better movie. And the new Horrendous album kicks ass. Really like the more progressive sound they have adopted.

Haha probably that! I think part of the problem with that band is people were like yo they're tech death, then I checked them out and I was like ehhh they're technical and there is some death but they ain't TECH DEATH, so it was kind of off-putting from the get go. Glad this one won me over and perhaps I'll get more into their older stuff as I dig deeper into the catalogue.
