I like details like that. Anakin is agile, fast and full of energy. He swings his saber all over the place because he can. Vader is the opposite. Lacking the traits of the past self, he has to compensate it. Every move is efficient, short and strong. Preserving energy is a must.

@Matches_Malone Tbh the Jedi order is full of hypocrisy and stupidity. Anakin was a thousand times more powerful when he was actually acknowledging his emotions. If it’s a matter of full potential dark side versus full potential light, dark will win. The Jedi just didn’t do a good job at all in the way they ran their system. Anakin was a slave until he died, and I fully believe a dark side full potential would be completely free from any restraint, and could easily overwhelm any opponent. We already saw a taste of that in the clone wars when Anakin was defending someone he loved, namely Ashoka, Obi-Wan, or Padme. When he used his emotions, the raw power in his Force was unparalleled. He brought the living Force to its knees with ease when he just opened up to it.

I know I'm repeating much of what is already said but I love the similarities between Vader and Anakin here with the style of combat with Vader's being more controlled and purposeful than Anakin's flashy style. I can imagine if someone saw Anakin with his unique style then years later seeing Darth Vader fighting and you can't help but feel the ghost of Anakin Skywalker within the cold shell of Darth Vader.

I really like how there are some subtle differences in their styles that illustrate the type of fighter and person they were at that point in their lives. You can see that Anakin’s movements, stances, defensive positions, and attack’s all represent a more “wild” and unfocused version of Darth Vader. Anakin’s movements almost burst with life, as well as boisterous inexperience within his current level of mastery. While Darth’s movements reflect a more mature and methodical figure. His movements are purposeful but just as effective. He seems far more efficient, having neglected any superfluous movements, even in his stride and sprint. I’m not necessarily a fan of the game (or what they tried to do to it), but I do appreciate the level of thought and detail in the animations. I think they effectively show the the differences between the same character at two different points in their lives.

It’s not necessarily about the mastery of using a lightsaber between these two. Vader has the injuries from Obi Wan, so in the suit, it is extremely painful for him to raise his arms above his head, or perform any “wild” movements. Not only that, but the suit blocks a lot of his movements, which explains why Vader runs slower, and blocks with his arms lower whereas Anakin is more agile and blocks with his arms raised up.

I love the differences in the blocking mechanics between the both. Anakin is more defensive and calculated with his lightsaber going over and across while Vader holds his in front of him in a sort of dominating stance. When you think about it, Luke and Anakin have extremely similar abilities. Anakin has a force pull and Luke has a force push which are still pretty similar. Luke has his repulse and Anakin has heroic might, which are a 360° force push. Luke has his dash strike and Anakin has his passionate strike which are both variants of a lightsaber strike. Like father, like son I suppose.

I really love what they did with both of them,they have the exact same moves (like in normal splashing) but Anakin seems more fast and arrogant, doing more flashy tricks,same with his dash,he puts his saber to the side because he's fast enough to block whatever he wants anyway,also he seems to like it up close and personal and is always angry and that's why his attacks are close range and his push is all over the place,Vader is more slow and ready as seen in his dash and moves,he is more careful almost like a true master,he has some long range attacks to show that he wants to beat them from far away or at least damage them just so they can't beat his obviously terrible suit,that's why I love Vader,he's so badass and cool but so calm and almost like a Jedi master if anything, always calm,and ready

Don't know why so many people commented that 'Anakin's style is wild and unfocused'. Look at the saber section - those are all solid strikes with excellent footwork, classic moves of longsword/kendo styles. It's not overextended or sloppily executed, nor is it 'wild' by any measure. Ability 1 is a step-through strike that in-universe is a staple opening move of Form V lightsaber combat. Just because Anakin has wider movements than Vader doesn't mean it's necessarily more boisterous or wild. Anakin mainly fights 2-handed, and Vader fights 1-handed with occasional 2H defensive moves or key strikes. There's a difference in style, but Anakin's base strikes are still indicative of solid classical training.

I really enjoy how their lightsaber attacks are very similar, with Vader's having less pizzazz and twirls to them. The cybernetics and armor really nerfed his dexterity, but he made up for it by honing his more simple movements to a razor's edge and perfected his new style.

Anakin was really powerful before he turned into Vader, he was speedy with his lightsaber and movements, he hits hard and he’s agile Vader on the other hand, his strikes are powerful but slow, his speed decreased after the fight with Obi Wan cause he burned up and lost a limb and he’s not as agile as he was as Anakin. Vader’s weakness is his attack speed and agility but his armor gives him more durability. Anakin’s weakness is he’s vulnerable to temptation and also his temper isn’t really the best, and all this made him into a Sith Lord.

I like how this shows the similarities between Anakin and Vader, I feel like Anakin was lile Revan his mind split, so he had 2 sides of him the dark and light but he let the dark consune the like, but the light was still in there I never see them as seperate just 2 halves, but it's cool to see the same stuff like his lightsaber attacks almost didn't change, his jump (which doesn't seem like much but eh still worth noting)

New canon has retconned that. Vader moves just fine and Palpatine did not purposely weaken him. He spared no expense when he was rebuilding Vader because he wanted him to be as powerful as possible.

@@ajaderabbit8399 Only in Legends, but Vader took steps to improve his resistance to lightning. In canon, Palpatine wanted Vader to be stronger so he helped him as much as he could and used state-of-the-art technology when rebuilding him. Vader's weakness to lightning is also greatly exaggerated, since Palps shocks him right after he gets off the table and it barely fazes him.

Honestly, I always thought the reason Vader was so strong was because he fixed Anakin's "flaw". Anakin fights like a madman and gets too excited and trigger happy. Vader cannot move fast nor fight as quickly. He has to make every strike count.

Don't know what the hell you even mean by "fllaws" because in terms of pure combat anakin doesn't have any. it doesn't matter if he has "a lot more experience," so what? so did most of the much older jedi did in the jedi temple yet anakin killed hundreds of them personally. obiwan had more experienced than anakin yet he was getting over powered throughout their entire fight and only lost due to the highground situation where anakin screwed up and that's it.

Yes but then here's the problem. The animations. If they made that skin it wouldn't make much sense, because Anakin would still have to use the animations of Vader, which are there for a reason. He's slow, and does precise swings. Anakin wouldn't do that even on the dark side, he would go all out with his attacks, like light side Anakin. There is a mod, that makes Anakin Darth Vader, they give him retribution, force choke and saber throw, while keeping the Anakin animations, and saber swing speed.

There attacks are very similar Vader just keeps his saber close to his chest to protect himself so he moves allot less stylishly and he moves slower

I like the details they have like the way they swing their lightsabers, they do it in the same fashion but you can see anakin is a lot more agile when he does it since he isn't being restricted by vaders extremely uncomfortable suit, and the way Vader swings is in a more focused fashion, their running is also similar but anakin also seems a lot faster and more agile than Vader because he isn't being restricted by the suit, idk I just like the details that they added
