Oh, the good old days when DigitalRevTV actually had an identity and substantial viewership. Good times.

FILM CAMERAS ARE AWESOME. there's a look from the photos you get that is just so unique. and as artists, the method of creating your artwork is also very important. not saying film is for everyone but it definitely has it's place

After almost giving up digital in favour for film, this is actually a good summary of my thoughts. Yes, digital is more convenient, it's faster but it's boring. If you have to deliver content, there is no way around digital. But if you shoot for fun, nothing beats film. And each time I pull out my film cameras, they are ready to run. Digital cameras are more computers than cameras and 2 out of 3 times, I have to fiddle around with the settings or charge the batteries first. When you grab your film camera, you set the aperture, speed and focus, squeeze to trigger and that's it.

Skynet it's a year later but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. Digital is a tool, and I think film is more for fun and authentic aesthetic. That said, I've gotten enough film cameras, and recently discovered the joy of messing around with lenses. It's a cheap way to enjoy and mess around w digital. I've got several Russian lenses, and they're so much fun to use

I took my old Grandad's Olympus OM10 with me on my trip to HK last week, and had my digital SLR too, it's great to find a interesting shot/place and use the DSLR to judge the best settings then play around with the 35mm a little bit. Waiting for the film to develop now :) Love your channel!

Some of the test seem to be biased. Film cameras are like reel to reel tape recorders. Most of the fun is playing with them. I believe the film cameras won both the burst rate and loading for readiness test as both of these activities took additional time with the film cameras. My rational is that the user has additional time to interface with the lovely and beautiful film cameras. These film cameras offer a cheap time tunnel back to the past. I can still buy and process film locally and at reasonable prices. The delay in getting the prints back also extends the excitement and anticipation rather than the instant gratification (the most people expect and demand these days) of the digital media. Film may be slow but it warms the heart. Being quick as with many things is not always the most important thing.

Bruce Mcmurtrie Plus I have found myself since I have started to shoot film the the photos have a presence the you just can't achieve with digital..my colour shots have a warmth and depth to them and my B&W's have the delicious grain and texture that modern (digital) camera's simply cannot produce.much as I love my DSLR's and the amazing pics you can get with them there's just something very special about using film.

that's exactly what it is. i had one in my collection for a long time but decided to use it now with some ilford fp4. It's a charm to work with. very very compact, all mechanical and just so incredibly solid. it's a joy to handle. The meter's battery might be available today but for a tad more control, go for an external lightmeter or guestimate the apropriate setting. It takes standard hotshoe flashes to try to pick up a cheap one somewhere. Just in case! have fun!

I think the shots you guys took on film look way more interesting than the test shots you're usually doing digitally I still keep my Nikon FE around just so I can still see through my old AI glass the way they were meant to be viewed... they work great on the D7000 but the crop factor changes them into something different... full-frame is still too expensive.

For actual work, digital is pretty much a must in the industry. The work and time needed is just plain faster. But it doesn't even compare to the enjoyment I feel when using manual film cameras. Digital just spoils you, where manual film makes you have to think to get the photos you want to take.

Awesome episode! I just bought a second hand Nikon F60 for around 100$ and it's basically faultless and it feels so nice in the hands; it feels much nicer than today's Nikon DSLR that cost under 1200$. And with this new para-series, I can't wait for that Nikon D700 vs. F6 comaprison; both have full frame and cost about the same. So which one is "better"? Have a nice day

Nice! Until now, I don't give up using film even though I have digital. I still have my Pentax 6x7 and K1000, Yashica & Canon rangefinders, and Yashica TLR. Anyway, using analog cameras challenges you to think more while composing, and force you to have a good to great shot every single frame because of the time and expenses to process a roll of film.
